Country is in midst of losing war and military police is every day scanning streets, searching buildings for fresh male meat to send to frontlines' meatgrinders. LI-TE-RA-LLY. Obvious things that make patching niche game a wee bit more difficult?
Maybe he found some cozy rabbit hole with internet connection where he can dedicate all his time to fixing this game. Or maybe (gasp!) he's Russian from Ukraine in downtown Donetsk. Now half of Codex has cancelled their Insomnia replay

Fact: an Ukrainian guy is trying to save a Russian game because he is based and a true gamer at heart.
My point is that this is somewhat insane in the current climate when nafoid retards are pretending that no good things come or ever came from Russia [see the Atomic Heart debacle].

I couldn't even remember what the game is. Looks like some kind of nu Bioshock? I had it on my watch list but the reviews sound really bad.
Reviews were usually bad because this game is still a broken anthill of a bug-fest, with treats such as quest items randomly disappearing from your inventory, even years after its release.
It was abandoned by both the publisher and the developers. I suspect not 100% sure) that it followed the typical, nefarious pattern: the publisher pushing for a release to meet the deadlines, the game clearly not ready, poor reviews and poor sales follow. However, the atmosphere is superb, and the game itself is reported to be fairly solid by those who like it. Some reviewers, able to look past the wall of bugs within their judgement, have even pointed out that it has the markings of a cult classic.
Enter today and this community patch. After years of players banging on the heavenly doors of the god Mrat (Miraculous Resurrections of Abandoned Titles) at Steam forums, a group of insane and dedicated fans has started sort of reverse-engineering and patching the game in the devs' stead.
As for what it is: a blend of RPG, adventure, 3rd person view shooting combat, and rust'n'sci-fi-punk on a star-base.

Unfortunately, not yet. This sub-topic is about the community patch. It's nicely chugging along (salutations to unrelated Morrowind efforts, hh), but it will take some time before it's finished.
