Anyone else notice we are having an explosion of Gothic-Like or Gothic-Inspired CRPGs? Off the top of my head, we have these just-released or upcoming games:
  1. Gothic Remake
  2. Knight's Path
  3. Of Ash & Steel
  4. Drova Forsaken Kin
  5. What youtuber C4G is working on
  6. Древние Русы/Elder Legacy
  7. The Chronicle of Myrtana Update 2.0
The title is not a complain, mind you. Gothic 1 & 2 are inclined, so I'm glad to see so many new games trying to follow its footstep. Still amazed at how the Gothic series has such a lasting influence on European devs even 2 decades after the release of its first game.

I think the commercial and critical failure of ELEX II made it clear that PB would not survive, which has accelerated the quantity of, and funding for, Gothic-likes.

Perhaps of greater importance was the success of Kingdom Come Deliverance. A lot of the games you listed aim for photorealism in a high medieval setting, which is not really the style nor substance of Gothic, which had its own fantasy critters and enemies (mine crawlers, orcs, swamp sharks, etc)

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I think it's pretty clear that Archolos has shown that people didn't stop liking good RPGs which are now archaic, but instead that there's a significant niche to fill which everyone ignored.

Yes and its great to see, any game that follows the standard Gothic design of open-world and no level scaling is only a good thing

Sure, I have noticed. Classics were and still are classics for a reason. They were fathers of genre and foundation on top of which you can build any good game's identity. With downfall of industry giants (in large part thanks to WOKE incompetence), this period is golden opportunity for small(er) devs to shine brightly. They don't need much to offer: give us believable worlds, inhabited by believable people FROM that world, drop us in, make us weak scrub at beginning, make exploration exciting and fun, make quests interesting and have multiple ways how to tackle them, cherry on top offer one innovative new game system and voila! You are new Messiah of RPGz

P.S. I don't know how much fair would be to put on the list two more games coming out of Poland: Alkahest and soon to be announced RPG from Rebel Wolves studio, ex CD Projekt Red devs. If they are -ex because they were too based for modern WOKE CD Projekt, game might be really good. We will see...
