Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Why would anyone on a niche RPG forum think, "Gee we really need a section for science because surely there is a large crossover between RPG fans and PHD's in STEM fields".
I mostly stick to the RPG subforums but people don't have to be scientists to talk about science. I have a PhD and when people find out irl they're generally curious about it and often already have opinions on the broader field that they want to share. I'm not saying that those opinions are necessarily very well informed, but it's still clear that reading and thinking about that sort of thing is something a lot of people can enjoy without being experts, and if people are having fun in the discussions it makes sense to keep the forum even if you have to take the posts with a pinch of salt.
This is a fair point. I guess I agree that people don't have to be in a field to discuss these things, and if people enjoy the section then more power to them. I just personally don't go to the gaming forum to discuss Science or Politics. C'est la vie.

Going into a section briefly != perusing the science subform on the regular. In my short post history do I have anything in the Science section? Oh right because I have zero interest in that section, and will not be going in there at all moving forwards. Why do you have such a hardon to respond to my posts? Also how do you think opinions are formed? Obviously to have an informed opinion that the section isn't for me I'd have to engage with it at least once you dumbfuck.

Everyone on the codex has their own personal parasitic troll! It is a standard and mandatory. If you're lucky, you'll eventually have a Legion of them tormenting and harassing you.

https://rpgcodex.net/page.php?id=about

Originally conceived of during a series of IRC discussions between Deathy, Saint_Proverbius, Ibbz, Shagnak, Xerophyte, Calis and a handful of others, the Codex was born during an era where basically everyone involved wanted to whinge about Computer-Based RPGs (cRPGs).

At the time, companies like Interplay (the king of RPG developers at the time) ran their own forums - however kept a strict lid on any criticism of their games. Fan run sites like No-Mutants Allowed existed but were only focussed on the Fallout series, while places like Terra-Arcanum focussed on the efforts of Troika Games.

RPG Dot existed but they covered everything RPG, including console games and MMORPGS, things the founders of the Codex weren't keen on covering - expressing a strong preference for single-player, PC based RPGs.

And so, RPG Codex was conceived as a place where any cRPG could be discussed - and more importantly criticised - without over zealous fan bois coming in to silence dissent or locking topics for getting "too heated".

Calis built the original site in PHP running on a MySQL database and the rest is history.

Online since 16 June 2002 while various features were designed and implemented, the site didn't really officially launch. At all really. We kind of just ran with it and here we are today...

Still running with it.

IT's dying because you guys set up 2FA process~ I gave up and install app necessary to meet 2FA just for Codex doesnt mean I have to like it. This surrendering just took my soul out of me and I just dont have the bile to argue, troll, and laugh at you guys any more~

Driving away posters like that is just your steadfast steps toward you doom.

I said it like 10 years ago and I’ll say it again, there are way too many subforums. What is this, reddit? sports can go into GD. Mmo can go into general gaming. Etc.

Also chat needs to be better.

The main website should be integrated better into the forums.

Etc etc.

The main issue though is that the world is currently in a bad place and everywhere will reflect that. The dex is not rivendell or some shit.

It's OK, people will be distracted from the death of the Codex by the upcoming global depression.

Yep. The future is automation, robotics, virtual intelligence, and artificial intelligence. After that will be universal digital identification. Then will come social credit scores. Last but not least will be central bank digital currency. Once all is in place the masses will be herded into mega cities creating techno feudalism. Going forward 75% of the population will live in poverty and 75% of the population will consume little to no good food. The masses will also be under 24/7 electronic surveillance via artificial intelligence. Only the top 25% will live something resembling a decent life but only the top 10% and above will live well. The top five percent will live in splendor and the top one percent will have it all. It'll be a caste system as horrific as India and it'll be global in other words there will be no escape. Anyone claiming otherwise is a grifter selling copium. Whatever salvation will be found will be at the individual level only.

Don’t worry, there’ll always be space for some injuns eking out an existence deep in the hinterland.

It won’t be an easy or long life, much like a wild cat. But anything is better than the pod.
