If that average is taking into account all time (however long this tracking was being done), that's a very steep decline.
What do you mean by "all time"? As I understood this are the total of unique IP visits per month

Read the screenshot. The chart is showing average visitors month over month for 2023 & 2024.

At the bottom, it shows average visitors at 131K.

Average visitors (what I'm assuming is all time, or whenever this tracking started) is almost 3x higher than the most active month in the past 1.5 years.

I imagine last year with BG3, Starfield and the Cyberpunk DLC releasing almost back to back was a pretty good year for the Codex.

Pulling up the stats and there is indeed a year-over-year loss

I see what you mean, only the mods would be answer what exactly the 309 and 130 numbers are exactly

He means that the most active month in the past 1.5 years according to that graph received 47,197 visitors, which is still x2.77 lower than the average of 130,761 indicating a clear decline since the tracking started.

No I understand that but I mean that only the mods would be able to tell if the tracking is accurate, if the number actually declined or simple became more accurate by blocking crawlers and other bots, other types of traffic, etc. There could be other reasons as well, since it seems that the peak users was during the pandemic in 2021, the 309.167 one, so it could have been that the numbers were simply unsustainable in the first place once the pandemic was over.

How much worse/better is when you see the stats for the last 5 or so years?
Enforcing 2FA and locking non-posting accounts out of GD did a number on the stats.

We killed the lurkers. Their corpses litter the membership list. No longer able to lurk, their ghosts have drifted off into the wind.

So you're going to change how 2FA works in order to get some of those people back, right?

If Codex is dying it's because of retards like Vic who contribute nothing to the threads they post in. Every thread you see the same exact personality type who will die on any hill at all to defend their pet games. There's no way to have a proper discussion if everything ends up with literal retards denying the most basic issues. You may as well just troll them since the mods don't care how bad a thread gets and lets them run riot. It's a shame as there's some great people here but many threads are unusable due to fanboys like Vic who won't stay in their containment threads and won't shut up about space skyrim.

Why do you even care how many lurkers or bots visit codex. What matters is how many quality posters here are.
Lurkers are part of the community too. Maybe you can't see them but it's a big thing with forums that there are always more lurkers than participants in a discussion.

Codex has had a surge of new users in the past few months. Or maybe the accounts belong to those lurkers who were forced to out themselves. Regardless many already have considerable post counts.
