Is the Codex dying?

  • It died a long time ago.

  • It's already dead.

  • Yes, it's dying.

  • Not dying, all is well.

  • All forums are dying.

  • What is life?

  • I want to have sex with my hot neighbor.

When the floodgates of unsophisticated people opened around 2015 it was the last straw for me. Many things used to be taken ironic when I joined, but they were taking them literal.

Also I don't like a certain kind of people, who have no friends and no endearing qualities but try to make everyones life online miserable.

You have <1000 posts in GRPG in almost 20 years, vast majority in GD and other subforums.

Sounds like a you problem.

Fair game that you feel insulted even though you were not personally attacked.

But I don't think you know what this was about, it wasn't about having a perfect character or number of posts in RPG sections, it was about deplorable characters rooting for Breivik and genocide and their general lack of education.

Who said I'm insulted? I'm just stating a fact. Even here you're talking about politics, and some Norweigen guy.

You're the one bitching about it when you still have thousands of posts in those subforums, just walk away from the screen ahahahaha

Even if youre in GD/Politics, you have to actively search out threads where such claims will be made, and even then they're sparse.

Just ignore the politics forum. I doubt there is a single thread of value there in its entire history. GD is also worthless and a nuisance.

There are plenty of good posts in the relevant threads, and enough good posters. Ignore the retards and move on.

Seems to me the forum is doing ok given its age and the circumstances (everything in games and culture turning too shit, no quality RPGs in sight, death of forums in general, clown world political situation). Unfortunately the casuality list of esteemed oldtimers is getting longer each year, but that's life I guess. And every now and then, someone returns from the dead miraculously like Saint_Proverbius.

I will say though that the most exciting times are probably behind us never to return. I mean legendary stuff like the Sir-Tech penis monster / Stones of Arnhem reveal, everything surrounding Cleve and the release of Grimoire, Chris Avellone's drunken rants on Feargus and Obsidian, the excitment and controversial discussion during the development of Age of Decadence, the Kickstarter craze and subsequent drama surrounding the (mostly) failed games that it produced, lot's of stuff. it was great to experience all of this first-hand.

I hope the forum and some of us will be around in 20 years...a forgotten corner of the internet, some senile old geezers poking fun at the world and discussing how to get Arcanum to run on the latest Windows quantum-computing machine.
