I think every single traditional forum I go to has a distinct lack of people younger than 30-years-old posting. It is not a gradual drop-off like you would expect, it is an instant cutoff. People born after certain years pretty much only use the Internet through their phone and mostly through popular social media "apps".

The funny thing is that even 4chan is too low on dopamine for the zoomers and it's visitor count and cultural relevancy has been steadily declining.

Given our resident zoomers, this is a good thing.
The problem is not zoomers.

The problem is zoomers who, instead of experiencing adolescence as it was intended, spent it on discord servers.
an adolescence is not worth experiencing unless there's a world war and you're going to sit in the trenches for a few years possibly getting shot

I don't think it's dying. From what I see (even from campaigns) numbers are getting lower, but there are still lots of discussions.

It's always nice to have your own circlejerk, am I right my fellow codexers?

True, I’ve been off codex for the past 3 weeks now in favor of twitter. But I have returned because this is the only place where people have good taste.

I joined codex before I joined discord.

I had no social media prior except Skype if you consider it “media”.

The youngens only use tiktok and instagram and other such stupid things. They can't absorb anything unless it is presented to them in a 10 second video with a dance.

Welcome back to the codex, this place has missed your severe aspergers syndrome!

Antarctica market is lacking, need to focus on bringing them in to save the Codex.

Ok, that is one codexer? Where's the other? Already on the mountains?

Nah man, it's not dead. It's resting.

(Also, the poll completely is invalid without this option.)

I wonder if I can get a collection of DVDs... not that i have a tv or player or house.

I heeded the call of nobility. When do I get my servants and riches?
Right now good sir, every servants and riches you could wish for

Haha, all this pic needs is a black robed dude with a Murray skull slaying those rats.

The irony is not lost on us

RPGCodex, where two-tailed rats roam.
I know i got another one but it was decent enough, there's always something off but it can do different styles very well.

Well, there's a really fun activity to do when you have the means: take your private jet, fly there, and travel a few hundred kilometers on a jet ski to organize a barbecue on the ice. If, at that moment, someone is incredibly bored, even under a beautiful starry night, and decides to check the codex on their phone, I suppose that counts as a visitor. I don't recommend this activity, as it's not very environmentally friendly to says the least.

Good. These insufferable cunts ruin everything, I don't want them anywhere near the places I frequent.

Eh, in many cases but sometimes younger are relatively mature and older are fucknutz crazy. You're probably correct just based on raw data analysis and statistics though. The pool of these studies can be very misleading but then again, look at general media. Yeeesh!

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
The fact this thread got 9 pages shows that the codex is far from dead. People saying the political section is useless I tend to agree with, but the one I don't see mentioned is, "SCIENCE!!". I've been a longtime lurker and looking in that section lately has killed so many braincells. Why would anyone on a niche RPG forum think, "Gee we really need a section for science because surely there is a large crossover between RPG fans and PHD's in STEM fields". Some of the topics and responses in there appear to be 4chan levels of math/science posts. I'm not interacting with RPG fans for their "insights" into things they have zero credibility in. Shocking!

My point is that the threads in Science are filled with such useless posts. I didn't even have to look hard at the first page to find these, 1, 2, 3, and 4. Even in threads that stay on topic regarding science related things like the Dark Matter one, there are a handful of people pointing out the obvious among a handful of shitposters. If you think that section has immense value on a forum that's supposed to be about RPGs, then I don't know what to tell you.

I don't, apart from the gaming threads almost nothing here is of value, and even then its slim pickings

I mostly stick to the RPG subforums but people don't have to be scientists to talk about science. I have a PhD and when people find out irl they're generally curious about it and often already have opinions on the broader field that they want to share. I'm not saying that those opinions are necessarily very well informed, but it's still clear that reading and thinking about that sort of thing is something a lot of people can enjoy without being experts, and if people are having fun in the discussions it makes sense to keep the forum even if you have to take the posts with a pinch of salt.
