The Diviner looks kinda interesting -- it's basically an illustrated text-based CYOA RPG:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1871839191/the-diviner

Its inspirations seem to be a bit all over the place though, from Wasteland and Fallout New Vegas to Diablo and Pokemon, not to mention Bioware-style romances.
I will wait before add this, by the look of it seems a scam to me or maybe is genuine retardation, let' see if proves to be something feasible.
What makes you think it's a scam? It might not be my cup of tea but it seems legit.

A gamebook with the depth of a full RPG is a cool idea. Having stuff based more on text allows a wider range of interactions with a smaller budget.
The reason I don't like this kind of projects in the ten thousand dolars range is that rarely delivers and there have been cases were the money basically served to bootstrap a startup studio more than making the promised game.
Here are at least two small budget RPG Kickstarters (with initial goals at 5 or 6k) that delivered their promises:

Paper Sorcerer (also getting good reviews here at the Codex)
Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox

It sounds as though you are biased against small indie projects - which is a shame since they're the ones who need Kickstarter / exposure more.

Depends, I backed a couple of small projects (often under 5k) that where well along the way and just needed the final push, those actually delivered (Phantasmaburbia, Crayon Chronicles) and some of the games I backed who where under 20k (Tiny Barbarian, Two Brothers, Full Bore, Spud's Quest) either partially or completely delivered too. Though platformer seem to work out more often than more ambitious types of games

Mine was a general statement, in fact many projects in that range were added, nonetheless I think they need more scrutiny on average.

That applies to a lot of stuff on Kickstarter, scams aren't as bad as people not being all that financially sound nor sane nor able to actually do what they set out to do

which is why I like demos, gives me a pretty good handle on the abilities of those invovled

Some information about what can happen to a Kickstarter project:

A warning for all Indie game makers on Kickstarter and elsewhere.
We, Coded Emotion have had the astounding privilege of working with a graphic
designer that goes by
"Jordan Limbach", "PriestlyNinja" and sometimes "Calvin Ragnos".

He e-mailed us one afternoon saying he was a fan and would like to work with us.
He seemed very productive, was friendly with our staff and worked at an excellent pace.
Little did we know, he was intentionally the cause of a gigantic leak of information and resources including the closed beta after its release.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fourbitfriday/catacomb-kids-a-very-roguelike-platformer/

Catacomb Kids. Another roguelike-like platformer.

Catacomb Kids is a procedurally generated platformer, with an equal emphasis on quick reactions, tactical engagement, and strategic character growth. Wield swords, spears, axes, and daggers -- unleash powerful magicks to burn, freeze and poison foes with -- overcome traps and beasts both deadly and unrelenting.

The goal is to make a game that is streamlined but not "simple"; a system where basic elements interact to create complex outcomes and stories. Lure monsters into combat with one another or take advantage of environmental hazards to trick your foes into their own bloody demise.

Or maybe just face them head on, tearing through enemies with the magical might of a hurricane, or as an unstoppable manifestation of brutal physical violence. Each Kid is randomly generated to guarantee a unique experience every time, but from that starting seed you can grow in whatever direction you wish.

Added to the Platformers section, already in green.

Interstellaria looks interesting: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/11/19/space-sims-get-in-ter-interstellaria-it-looks-stellar/

It's like FTL except with (even more) indie graphics, but also with planet exploration.
That does sound very cool at first glance (I'm a huge fan of Starflight)...
Interstellaria is a 2d space SIM/RPG/Sandbox game by Coldrice Games LLC created in the same vein as the best space exploration games of the past. Inspired heavily by games like Starflight or Star Control, Interstellaria is all about allowing the player freely explore space. Every star has something interesting to see, and every planet has it’s own unique feel. In addition, each alien race follows its own culture and moral values.

After seeing that I was all :takemymoney:

But then I saw this...
BDFEUll.gif

:keepmymoney:

I guess I'm still waiting for a proper Starflight successor....

Maybe I can struggle through the platforming if the rest of the game is really good. Aside from the platforming and over-used elongated pixel characters, it does look intriguing.
The awful platforming is really a let down, I won't add it for now, got funded by the way.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/astrobasecommand/astrobase-command?ref=category

Astrobase Command is a character-driven survival and building simulation in a 70's sci-fi setting.

Astrobase Command combines elements of Base-Building, RPG Sandbox, and features AI-generated stories.

We're inspired by our favorite sci-fi TV series and films (Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Stargate Universe, Alien, etc.); as well as our favorite video games ranging from Star Control lI to Startopia.

Sandbox -- You can actually go anywhere and do anything, and as a core premise the game is built around making this as true as possible.

Actions have Consequences -- Your choices fundamentally shape the world, and also how the world informs your future actions in a feedback system which extends into all aspects of the game.

RPG -- The game encourages attachment and emotional investment in characters by imbuing them with personality, which is expressed during the moment-to-moment gameplay.

Immersion -- You feel like you're inside the game-world to such a degree you forget you're playing software. The world is credible and the characters behave not as scripted plot devices or bags of stats, but as individuals that live and exist in that world.

Science Fiction -- A setting that explores how technology creates novel predicaments for characters, but can also yield the solution to those same predicaments.
Added to Space Simulators., will fail tho.
