Update #12 - The End
Now it's time to deal with Milos. You might notice that the following screenshots are at night, although the last update ended during daylight. That's because we're first going to see what would have happened if we hadn't unooked the cars (it won't affect the upcoming confrontation).
Action Cath to the rescue!
- You won't make it! -
The stoker says something in moonspeak (probably Serbian too, I'm not sure) - I think something about the engineer. I guess they killed him when they hijacked the train. Milos tells him to shut up and keep shovelling.
- You are not a Slav, this I understand.
But how can you help the Austrians?
I'm not helping anybody, I have a ticket in my pocket to Constantinople and I'm not gonna waste it. -
So Cath went through all the trouble to stop the terrorists only because he wants to get into Constantinople. Saving the passengers is just a side effect.
- Is this a joke to you?
Who killed Tyler? -
Seriously? I can't think of a less appropriate moment to ask this question.
- Tyler gave his life for our freedom - and you?
What do you believe in?
You believe in nothing? -
I believe a baby can fly.
Also, I believe you should turn around.
Anna was faster.
Although he has one last chance to blow Cath's head off, he spares him.
Somehow it felt sad when he had to die. He wasn't such a bad guy, after all.
Cath throws his corpse off the train. I guess that means he considered him a friend.
How did Anna get here anyway? The conductors said that the connection between the locomotive and the rest of the train was cut and she didn't go across the train's roof. So what, did she crawl underneath it? Whatever, let's just assume she jumped through a plot hole.
- Good, we're slowing down.
You can stop shovelling now. -
Cath doesn't like slowing down.
'Bout time we kicked this train into overdrive.
- Keep shovelling!
What are you doing? Have you lost your mind? Stop the train!
As I was telling my friend before you shot him, I've got a ticket for Constantinople in my pocket and I intend to use it.
Constantinople? You won't make it out of Belgrade.
I wasn't planning to stop in Belgrade. -
Anna looks around and she finds the perfect excuse.
- There are thirty innocent passengers on this train. Are you willing to risk their lives too? -
Cath should have been more extreme and throw her of the train too.
And by pulling one lever she stops the whole train.
This ending is not so bad actually. Probably the second best. Not as evil as giving Kronos the egg, but I doubt that the medal is worth as much as a briefcase filled with money.
Anyway, let's get back to the point where we rescued the hostages and unhooked the train.
Fastforwarding through Milos, since everything is exactly the same except for the background.
Have a nice flight.
- Good, we're slowing down.
You can stop shovelling now. -
...
The dialogiue is the same for the first part.
I wasn't planning to stop in Belgrade.
We're still within the Austrian Empire. In the name of the Emperor, I order you to stop the train. -
I think this is the third time she pulled her gun on him. Also she did the IN THE NAME OF THE EMPEROR wrong.
And Cath is yet again unimpressed.
- Do you think I won't shoot you?
Go ahead!
Now you've done it.. damned you!
Give me that shovel. -
Now Abbot joins the fun.
- Everything out of control, I see, well done.
Maybe you could have stopped the train before we hit the border crossing, but we can't have everything. -
He turns around and spots a train whose screenshot I didn't take.
- That's a Serbian army train. By the look of it, I'd say it's General Georgovitch. He appears to be following us. -
I'm not sure if I spelled the general's name right. I checked the list of Serbian generals on Wikipedia and there was no WWI general with a similiarly sounding name, so I guess this one is fictional.
That train is on a different track.
Is it? I believe you're right. What on Earth does he think he's doing? -
Uh oh...
Anna translates what the shoveler is saying.
- He says they have switched us on the old track.
He says we have to stop. The bridge is old, it won't take our weight.
It will have to! -
Cath sure is doing a lot of extreme in this update.
Fuck yeah!
Time to celebrate the victory.
The other train stops in the last second. The general is probably shaking his fist angrily.
Now after the cutscene we're controlling Cath again.
Let's check out the locomotive again.
- I say you've had a rather hard morning, haven't you? Why don't you go down and take a bit of a rest?
I think we can keep it going ourselves, don't you?
Da, we run train! -
Let's go back inside then.
Anna's waiting for us.
- Seems you'll make it to Constantinople after all.
Congratulations, you've won.
What about finding out who killed Tyler? Or have you forgotten about him?
Maybe it was one of the Serbs.
Maybe Mahmoud...
what difference does it make? They're all dead. I can't help Tyler, I can't help anyone.
You were right, I never should have gotten mixed up in this. And neither should you.
At least I'm serving my country.
What country? You're Jewish, you speak German, you come from Hungary - what is your country?
My father spent his life in the Austrian millitary, my brother was killed in action.
I think that gives me the right to consider myself an Austrian.
I hope the Emperor appreciates your sacrifice. -
No Emotional Engagement? Cath, I'm dissapoint ._.
What about you? Once you get into Constantinople, where will you go then?
To Jerusalem.
There's a man there who has a manuscript that I'd like to get a look at.
Do you want to come with me?
Oh, if I only could...
Don't you think the Empire can get along for a while without you?
I mean it, come to Jerusalem with me.
I'm thinking about it. -
Moar romance.
The train moves the whole night while Abbot... sings ("When I was a Lad I served a Term" from H. M. S. Pinafore).
I am the monarch of the see,
The ruler of the Queen's Navee,
Whose praise Great Britain loudly chants. -
As I said, most of the journey in CD3 is skipped.
- We should be in Constantinople in an hour.
Where did you get this?
I've... had it for a long time. -
That's the jooish ring that Kronos mentioned.
- I've seen this tower before.
Where?
If I think for a minute, I'll remember.
It's just a design on a ring.
Only an American would say that.
It's a family quest, the tower, the hand, every part of it has a meaning. -
I guess they were planning a sequel already. It's a shame that it never was.
- Maybe they may be bartered in the flea market.
Don't go away. When I come back, I'll tell you where I saw that tower.
Where are you going?
Out. -
Cath notices something through the window.
The train - that car seems familiar...
We should check what Anna's doing.
Not again, for fuck's sake...
- Ah, Mr. Cath. We have been waiting for you.
Not yet, my dear.
Would you bring us the Firebird, please? -
Now we have some time to get the egg. I'm not sure what would happen if you hadn't placed the egg in the dog's cage. You can't do it in CD2, because Kahina would steal the egg if it weren't there, but it should be possible in CD3 to take the egg and hide it in your compartment again. And obviously you would be unable to get it now, since all the compartments were unhooked from the rest of the train. I think that either the egg would magically teleport to where it should be, or:
The same happens if it takes you too long to get the egg, by the way.
So, there it is. The dog wasn't there this time, so I guess someone has released him already.
Now we have to bring it to Kronos.
- Thank you.
And now, if you would be so kind as to open it. -
It opens the same way as before.
- Mr. Cath we're wasting time. -
If it takes you too long to find out how to open it, they'll kill you.
Anyway, here's the Firebird again.
- Ah, how beautiful.
What's that sound?
Look out of the window, it's growing dark.
But what is it?
Don't you know?
It is the beating of its living heart.
Now, make it sing!
Play the song. Play it! -
It's the same song she played during the concert, I think.
The Firebird starts singing too, after a while.
The music wakes Tatiana up.
I'm not sure what's so impressive about it, the Firebird sounds like a typical music box.
Well, a *moving* musical box.
Someone should do a variation of
that looks like the Firebird.
- Sunset. -
Nigga's serious again.
- That's enough, close the egg now, please.
Close it! -
First, let's see what happens if we do as he says.
- Thank you, Mr. Cath. I'm delighted to have made your aquintace. I hope we meet again, although, I doubt it.
Miss Wolff.
Don't bother.
Mr. Cath, I'm not ungrateful.
You have brought me my Firebird, now I shall give you something. When you go to Jerusalem, ask about the 13th tribe. -
Yeah, whatever.
- What's the matter, what happened? -
Now, this ending wasn't so bad either (except for the explosion). Let's find out what caused it in the one TRUE ENDING:
Instead of closing the egg this time, we'll use the whistle.
But now the Firebird doesn't start singing.
It looks angry.
- NOOOO! -
Kronos is fucked.
The Firebird claws his face while everyone else watches.
The marks... they look familiar.
- Tyler... -
So there it is. Tyler was killed by the Firebird.
I think that if you try to make the Firebird sing after sunset it will try to kill you instead. Maybe Tyler found out how to open it and then used the whistle during the night. And when it killed him, it reassembled itself into the egg, I guess?
Oh and the whistle isn't dormant anymore.
Kahina decides that she should probably save her master. And the best way to do it is to attract its attention by shooting in the air.
Oh shit.
She deserved it anyway.
Cath and Anna decide to flee the scene before the Firebird changes targets again.
- Jump! -
The dog's still alive too.
- Max!
Oh Max!
Wo kommst du denn her? Hab ich dich fast vergessen. Mein kleiner Schatz.
Oh, jetzt ist alles wieder gut. -
Haven't we forgotten something? Like... all the other passengers still on the train?
- Tatiana! -
Cath's a quick-thinker.
She's arming herself so that she can deal with the Firebird personally.
A bit too late for that, isn't it?
-
They mustn't get the guns. There must be no more war. -
*Zippo lighter advertisment*
Kaboom!
Oh and she kills all the other passengers along with the arms.
Poor Abbot, I think I'm going to miss him.
She even kills her own grandfather. Alexei's last will is done.
But the Firebird escapes, of course.
Freedom!
- Let's go. Take me away from here.
Now, please.
What are they saying, what's happening? -
Cath asks a younger Andhaira what all the commotion is supposed to mean.
- It's war! -
ITZ came to Europe.
- I know a skipper who can take us to Gallipoli. We can get a boat there to Jerusalem.
Don't look at me like that.
This war won't last longer than a month. I will come to Constantinople as soon as it's over.
I'll take the first Orient Express that runs after the war.
If I don't see you, I hope you'll find what you're looking for.
Take care of Max for me. -
And she leaves...
Happy ending?
I guess not.
The end credits are great, you can watch them with music here:

:manly tears:
Now that concludes this LP. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I did.
