Seeing as the game I originaly wanted to LP broke down, I decided to LP this game instead. Surprised no one started an LP already, but I guess everyone is too busy playing it right now.

Here we have our playable races, Humans, Elves, D0rfs and Orcs. Classes are tied to a race, with every race having 3, one might class, one magic class and one hybrid class. As seen above each race has two racial abilities that don't really matter much. Mostly one resistance and one other thing.

    Human

    10 Air resistance
4 Skill points at start instead of 2

    Classes

    Mercenary:

    Crusader:

    Freemage:

And here we have their portrait options! Due to low budget of the game there are only 2 per gender for each race. There are also two voices, heroic and cynical.

    Elf

    10 Earth resistance
    5 Evade Value

    Classes

    Bladedancer:

    Ranger:

    Druid:

    Here are elven portraits:

    Dwarf

    10 Fire resistance
1 additional HP point per Vitality

    Classes

    Defender:

    Scout:

    Runepriest:

    Dwarven portraits:

    Orc

20 percent chance to resist negative effects (stun, paralysis etc.)
    20 percent more critical damage

    Classes

    Barbarian:

    Hunter:

    Shaman:

And here are their ugly mugs:

Here is a nice table of skills someone put together:

That said, I need a party. Feel free to submit your characters, with their name, portrait, gender, race, class, skills and voice set (though the only one hearing it will be me). I will randomly pick four of them, assuming I get more submissions. Hopefully we won't end up with something like full ranger party :D

Edit: Oh and skills - Dark Magic is a must. Magic Focus and mysticism sounds good, and rest goes air magic, as I don't know primordial one.

Forgot to tell you, each class starts with two skills at novice level and can choose another two during character creation (four if human). They are as follows:

    Mercenary: Sword and Medium Armor
    Crusader: Sword and Light Magic
Freemage: Primordial Magic and Magical Focus
    Bladedancer: Sword and Dual Wield
    Ranger: Bow and Dagger
Druid: Earth Magic and Water Magic
    Defender: Axe and Shield
    Scout: Crossbow and Axe
    Runepriest: Fire Magic and Spear
Barbarian: Mace and Two Handed Weapons
    Hunter: Spear and Dodge
Shaman: Air Magic and Earth Magic

As for what the skills actually do, refer to this page: http://supremegamer.hubpages.com/hub/might-and-magic-x-legacy-level-up-guide

As for the names, there is a 9 character limit, but you can have spaces, commas etc. in them.

    Attributes are as follows:

Might: Increases melee damage. Also needed for secrets and traps testing Might.
Magic: Increases spell effects. Also needed for secrets and traps testing Magic.
Perception: Increases attack (much less important then it sounds) and Ranged Damage. Also needed for secrets and traps with Perception test.
Spirit: Each point gives 3 Mana
Vitality: Each point gives 3 HP (4 for dwarves)
Destiny: Increases critical hit chance and Evade Value

I haven't been following the news to this game, but judging to the Codex's reaction, it seems it is better than what I've expected. I suppose this LP shall be a good demonstration of its quality, as I'm not interested to play this these days.

Captain Crusade: Sure, it's still this millenium, right?

Thanks everyone for their submissions, party was chosen by the will of the dice.

    Krivol: 11
    Azira: 18
    Captain Crusade: 5
    MicoSelva: 6
    MotherMachinae: 2
    Arkeus: 12

And so our heroes shall be:

    Pariah the Human Crusader
    Krivolina the Human Freemage
    MicoSelva the Dwarven Scout
    Arkeus the Orc Shaman

    1. Let's start the game and meet our heroes.

    Show Spoiler
    [IMG]

After admiring the main screen for a bit, we shall go about creating our party of murderous psychotic thugs brave adventurers.

Let's go with warrior before someone calls me filthy casual.

And so here we are presented with another choice! Default party is tailor made for people devoid of imagination PC gamer reviewers. It contains a dwarven defender, human freemage, elven ranger and orc barbarian. A reasonable mix if you really feel so overwhelmed by character creation and just want to jump in and play.
Random creation isn't as random as it could be, since it always gives one character of each race (or atleast it seems to), but whatever. Manual Creation is where it's at!

Azira wanted to be a Crusader:

Next is our resident d0rf MicoSelva, the Dwarven Scout:

The only "girl" on our team, Krivol AKA Krivolina will be a Freemage:

And last but not least, Arkeus an Orc Shaman:
Everyone but Pariah is a cynical asshole, which I kinda regret since now they just won't shut up about their fellow adventurers poor hygiene.

Once everyone is ready we get one last look at our party and into battle we go!

The intro is probably too long for it's own good, but atleast the voiceover girl is better then the one from Realms of Arkania HD, if a lot less amusing.

We have just started and already the game is asking us such deep philosophical questions. Planescape: Torment eat your heart out!

[IMG] "Last night I dreamed such a clear vision of past events, terrible things I'd wanted to forget. They refused to fade away, demanding, pleading to be told one last time."

THE MEMORIES!!! THEY DEMAND TO BE TOLD! MAKE THEM STOOOOP!!

Screw that thing, let's just continue on with the story and hope we forget that ever happened.
[IMG] But I am the new dimension of RPG! You can't possibly forget me!:smug:
    [IMG] :killit:
    [IMG] :negative:

    Anyway, as I was saying...

What follows is lengthy introduction to the current affairs on Ashan, 10 years after Heroes 6 and a recap of that game aswell. Suffice to say, Emperor is dead and his young daughter inherited the throne. Angels were revealed to be manipulating the Empire and used them for their war against the Faceless, committing crimes and blaming it on them. Also, they were breeding humans to use their bodies as hosts if they ever died. That wasn't very well received by public. Uriel, the main angel bad guy, was defeated by the protagonists of Heroes 6 and his resurrected brother Michael either died off-screen or we know the Tears ending was canon.
Following all that, a civil war broke out and the Empire is in decline, collapsing upon itself. The new Empress Gwendolyn tried to calm the situation with several reforms, including the separation of church from the state, but only succeeded in further alienating some conservative nobles. The setting of this game, Agyn Peninsula is planning to secede from the Empire and join the coalition of the Free Cities, effectively becoming it's own state. So, nothing that should interest our characters much. Atleast that means there will be things to kill and loot to steal. :troll:

    Oh yeah, that's us!

Wait a minute, that's not us! So we are going to risk our asses to save the world or something and then these four default casual assholes swoop in and take all the credit? Fucking :decline:.

    Well whatever, let's start off.

Loading times start off reasonably, but quickly get worse. Like two minutes long.

Oh yes, that's us. Paragons of honour and virtue :troll:. We are sailed away, hopefully towards :incline:, from the province of Hammerfall located in the popamole land of Tamriel. (I loved Skyrim btw.) Or something.

So, this is our epic main quest for the moment. We have to get to Karthal and dump our dead mentor's ashes there. Should be easy enough, right?

Finally we are in control of our characters and narrator leaves us alone for a while.

[IMG] So, this is Karthal, right? Great, let's dump this here and get out of this shithole.

[IMG] Wait, you didn't hear that disembodied voice in your head? This isn't Karthal, just some random backwater village. We have been duped!

[IMG] Eh, human cities all look the same to me. Simple, popamole architecture that crashes every two years and requires constant patching. Not like those hardcore things we d0rfs build in Grimheim.

[IMG] Sorpigal, eh? You know, that seems oddly familiar, but I can't remember why... hmm.

    [IMG] Nope, got nothing.

[IMG] Arkeus be big. Arkeus strong. But Arkeus hate sea. It make him sick- Oh, sorry, my dear colleagues, what matter were you discussing this right moment?

[IMG] What did the ork say?

[IMG] Dunno, just ignore him. I don't speak orcish. It's probably just hungry or something. Give him some of that in-sail food we got, he is too stupid to realize its made from recycled biomass. I heard they ate trash from the streets when we had them as slaves, so he should be accustomed to that.

[IMG] What? That insufferable wench doubts my intellectual capacity? The outrage! I will show her with my sharp wit. Arkeus no dumb! You dumb! You!

[IMG] Sheesh, calm down, you are in civilized society now, you can't act like on your little islands here. Think it understands that, guys? Or should I use hand gestures?

    [IMG] :x

[IMG] That's enough! Let's just go back to the captain and demand an explanation.

And with that, our party turns around and meets up with Sir Christian.

[IMG] Why hello there my former passengers, what can I do-

    [IMG] [IMG]
Listen bitch you better take us straight to Karthal, or I'm gonna go EXTREME on your ass, you got that?

[IMG] Hey dude, keep that popamole shit away from here, this is a zerious oldskool blobber, not some mainstream console garbage where you can just collargrab everyone to get what you want!

    [IMG] Oh right, sorry.

[IMG] Whatever, just take us to Karthal, we paid you to get there, didn't we?

[IMG] Look, I'd really love to, but-

[IMG] Well, shit. Do we atleast get our money back?

[IMG] Nope. No refunds. But don't worry, just go do some tutorial quests in that village over there, I'm sure everything will work out.

[IMG] I guess we have no choice then, brave compatriots! We shall go help these poor people with their menial problems like true champions of justice. Onwards to glory!

[IMG] Wait! Easy there, Arkeus. I know you are hungry, but you should run off like this, people could kill you if they see you rampaging like that and shouting. Don't worry buddy *pat pat*, we will hit the tavern soon and then we will get you the finest garbage you ever ate, how about that?

[IMG] Sheesh, I told you we should keep that thing on a leash.

    [IMG] Fuck my life.

And with that, our "heroes" set out for Sorpigal! What adventurers shall await them there? Will they die horribly within the first few minutes of the game? Quite possibly.

Sorry for all the LARPing, I wanted to include a tour of the town, but it already got too long as it is. Next update should be soon.

I'm happy with dices too... And I'm not going to die - mages never die first, right? Right?...

False edit: And that orcish dialogues are great!

So, what's the official 'dex verdict on the game? Is it worth the price? Should I wait for the price to drop?

    2. Let's explore the town and die horribly from poison

    Show Spoiler
    [IMG]

Last time we left off, our heroes were dumped on the docks of some quaint town named Sorpigal. Unfortunately Sir Christian can't get us to Karthal directly because rebels took over the city and blocked off the port, so now we have to find our own way. Let us make way to the city gates and start off the game proper.

Once we make from the pier we are greeted by this fellow. He shares models with Sandor from Heroes 6, as you can see if you have played that game. Also, everyone keeps calling us raiders for some reason. I guess they know what we are really after.:smug: (The real reason for that is because adventurers are commonly called raiders on Ashan and not seen much better then brigands, vagrants or highwaymen).

[IMG] Well yeah, and you are...?

[IMG] "Me? I used to be a raider, just like you."

[IMG] Until you took an arrow in the knee?

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] :nocountryforshitposters:

    [IMG] :troll:

[IMG] ...okay then. As I was saying, my name is Dunstan.

[IMG] So, what can you tell us about this place, Dunstan? I swear, I keep having some weird flashbacks here...

    [IMG] The hell is that...

[IMG] Anyway, I heard you guys need to get to Karthal. Can't get you there, no one can. The rebels have taken over the city and...

[IMG] Yeah, yeah, we heard that from Captain Douchy over there. Could you skip straight to the point?

[IMG] Look, just go to Maximus, he gives out the lowbie quests. I am sure he will have something to kill for you. If you want, I can show you around the town and take you to him.

[IMG] You know, it might be better if we just went straight for Karthal. No offense, but you don't seem like the most honest man on the-

[IMG] Oh my, this will be an opportunity to test my Hydromantic spells in combat engagement. I better agree to silence all dissent before it's even born, so that those simpletons don't blow our opportunity for testing and monetary gain. "Orc always happy to help. If asked nicely!"

    [IMG] Great then! Let's go!

    Congratulations! Dunstan joined your party!

You can have up to two NPCs with you at any given moment. Some join you on a quest, but majority will be hired for gold. Quest NPCs can't be fired and you can only get rid of them once you complete their quest, but they are free, don't take away a portion of gold every time you loot something and also have the abilities that can be replicated with hirelings. Dunstan here is no different, but we are not going to have him long enough to use it.

[IMG] Why did you do that Arkeus? We can't trust that guy. For all we know he is just leading us straight to his buddies to rob us blind!

[IMG] Oh no, I need to give them a reason and persuade them with my rhetoric. "Orc like new friends!" Fuck.

    Persuade check: Success

[IMG] Just give it a rest, Mr. Paladin. You can't get a straight answer from the beast, they do everything instinctively, like animals. And haven't you heard? This Maximus guy will send us to kill something! And if he leads us to an ambush we can kill them too! You a pussy or what?

    [IMG] For god sakes, move!

With Dunstan in tow, we decide to explore the docks area first, coming along this barrel. I wonder if we can loot it?

Well, technically, yeah. Pariah drinks the contents of this barrel, gaining a permanent 1 resistance to light magic! They are all over the game, pulsing liquid gives permanent resistances, dark liquid gives permanent stat points.

    [IMG] Yummy!

[IMG] Can you explain to me why did you just smash a barrel and drank that weird shiny yellow liquid without knowing what it was?

[IMG] And did not even share? That's not cool, man.:rpgcodex:

[IMG] You two... seriously, I would expect that from the orc!

    [IMG] Hey!

Moving on, the city guards don't have get our hopes up much.

[IMG] Great, so we are stuck here, in a town where people disappear without a trace.

[IMG] Why would they keep people locked up here when there is danger here and they keep disappearing, this doesn't make any sense-

[IMG] Don't question our public safety measures. And keep that thing on the leash, we don't want it to cover our streets in orc shit.

And so, here we are in Sorpigal. A nice little place. Before going to the garrison we will explore the town for a bit.

In a back alley, we find a floating book on a pedestal. Must be a powerful relic, right?

Sadly, turns out it was just a history book about Karthal.

And here we have another tutorial popup! Moving one tile in a city takes 1 minute ingame time. Outdoors, it takes 5. The shortest route from the ship to the town gates is 10 tiles long, so that means it takes 10 minutes of walking. So we can conclude that if our party moves at an average human speed, the distance is about 800 meters. Sure didn't seem that way ingame!
You also get different mobs in the outdoors based on the time of day, like giant spiders during the day and ghosts (and ghost spiders) during the night.

We also find our first shop.

[IMG] If you want quality armor, or need you old one repaired, Thurmond is your dwarf.

[IMG] A dwarven armorsmith? I was afraid I would have to put up with some simple human "craftsmanship", if you can call it that. But now I can buy from a real master! Let's go there and get you noobs some real armour.

[IMG] Hello there, master Thurmond! I can't believe we found a dwarven armoursmith in this d-

[IMG] -definitely magnificent place, yet so far away from dwarven lands, right MicoSelva?

    [IMG] Sure, whatever.

[IMG] Yeah, and I am a Winterwind, been shooting things with my crossbow, climbing trees and mountains, dancing with polar bears, hugging trees and playing with forest animals in the snow ever since I was a-

    [IMG] -modern Disney princess?

    [IMG] Fucking hippy dwarves.

[IMG] :desu:Oh Thurmond-chan, stop. You are making me blush-

[IMG] You guys need some time alone?

    [IMG] :x

Unfortunately it seems that anything we would want is out of our budget right now and the other things are either useless or overpriced.

[IMG] Say, Thurmond-chan, since you admire me so much, could you give me something as a gift to honour the service our clan does by keeping the borders safe-

    [IMG] No.

[IMG] Come on, atleast a discount?

    [IMG] No.

[IMG] Please, can I haz quarter off?

    [IMG] No.

    [IMG] 15% off?

    [IMG] No.

    [IMG] 5% off?

    [IMG] No.

[IMG] 10 gold off and I will give you a foot massage?

    [IMG] No.

[IMG] Either pay up or get out.

    [IMG] Real smooth there, MicoSelva.

[IMG] Yeah, nice job whoring yourself out for nothing.

[IMG] Well, you are obviously the expert here, so I didn't want to intrude on your-

[IMG] Finish that sentence and I will blast you off with-

[IMG] Oh dear, these imbeciles are going to fight inside a shop. *sigh* Let's get them out of here, before they break something. Orc not like this place and you fight like dumb wolves. You go now. *drags everyone out*

Outside in the streets we come across this treasure chest and promptly loot it.

[IMG] You sure this doesn't belong to anyone?

[IMG] Shut up, treasure chests are free game. Everyone knows that.

On the town square there is another smith, this one selling weapons.

We also pick up another floating book, this one containing sailor songs. Not sure which mage thought this book was worth such a pedestal, unless it was a Pirate mage.

In one house, we come upon Eileen, a cleric hero from Heroes 6 who is in Sorpigal for some reason. She also changed classes to a knight, judging by her model. We are going to meet a lot of heroes from HOMAM 6 as random NPCs.

[IMG] Hey there, you are a crusader? Cool, I am a crusader too!

She decides to blabber about her life instead of answering to Pariah.

[IMG] Paladins are always cool, how can I become one?

[IMG] Cool, thanks! Okay guys, once we get out of here, let's go find that governor so I can become a paladin!

 Before you go, could you kill my three kids- I mean, three dangerous criminals for me?

[IMG] Sure, since you were so helpful and stuff. ;)

 Thank you! The first one is named Lucas, but he calls himself Luke Skywalker to distance himself from George Lucas. Second is Captain Kirk on his pirate ship named Enterprise and the last is Ripley, like Ellen Ripley. Though if they just atone, you can let them live.

Moving on, we come across this guy.

    :yeah:

    [IMG] Hehe, human funny!

Here we have the alchemist, selling potions, rings, magical foci and identifying magical items for ridiculous prices. We are going to rise primordial magic to expert for the Identify spell, unless we want to be horribly broke.

[IMG] Ahh, look, another barrel. Surely another permanent boost, let's just smash it-

    :rage:

[IMG] The fuck is wrong with this town? Giant spiders in barrels? And you just had to break that barrel, you munchkin. Oh well, let's kill it!

    [IMG] Feeling dizzy here!

[IMG] Primitive beast, you stand no chance against my magical abilities! I call Ice Bolt upon thee!

Ice bolt and some other Water spells reduce the number of attacks an enemy gets in addition to damage. Useless here, since I am sure the spider has only one attack, but the damage is still good.
We can't flee or move right now, btw. Once you are in combat you either win or die. And when enemy gets in your melee range, you can't move at all unless you push him away with some spell. Our characters can do one action each in any order you want. Right now, Pariah is poisoned, that's why he looks like something from a zombie apocalypse.

[IMG] You call that magic, orc? Here, watch this!

Right now, magic is pretty much the best way to kill things even with our limited mana supply. Enemies evade and block attacks frequently and the damage is pathetic until we get them some better weapons. Still useful though.

[IMG] Agh, kill this thing! Here, one steel bolt should do it...

    [IMG] Or maybe not.

Ranged attacks suffer 50% damage penalty in melee, an improvement over Early access where they couldn't be used in melee at all. They are still weak though.

[IMG] I'm... gonna hit it... I must do it... please don't kill me.

Once all characters used their turn, it's the enemies who get theirs. This one seems to have taken liking to hurting Pariah and continues to munch on him as the poison slowly sips his HP away.

[IMG] Screw this, let's just him him with an axe instead of my crossbow.

[IMG] Wait, you hit him with the crossbow? Why didn't you shoot him instead?

[IMG] Shooting in melee? You insane?

That's my explanation for the damage penalty:troll:.

Here we can see that MicoSelva does about three times as much damage with his crappy one-handed axe.

The spider then get's quite a beating with another barrage of spells.

Unfortunately, he also manages to poison MicoSelva before we can finish him off.

[IMG] Don't worry guys... it's nothing, we dwarves are naturally resistant to toxins-

[IMG] No, that's elves. Dwarves are resistant to fire instead.

    [IMG] Well fuck me.

Pariah eventually finishes the evil spider for great justice!:salute:

Unfortunately the spider didn't drop any Antidotes.

[IMG] Hell yes, that was a fun fight, right guys?

[IMG] I feel like my bowels are gonna explode...

[IMG] Please, put me out of my misery...

[IMG] OMG, you two are such pussies. Here, let's just rest here in this back alley, while I make fire in the barrel to keep us warm. I am sure you will be just fine after 8 hours of rest.

[IMG] You know, if any guards spot us, we are going to seem like a bunch of hobos to them.

[IMG] Well, we kinda are... let's just shut up and let these to recuperate.

And so, after eight hours of rest... nothing changed. You can't get rid of poison by sleeping:incline:. You can only get rid of those status effects that would make sense for sleep to remove. Like Feeblemind, Weakness and Stun.

[IMG] Well guys, you were right, I feel really- oh god, no, the pain AAARGH, ITS EATING ME FROM THE INSIDE!

    [IMG] The pain! The pain!

[IMG] This was a stupid plan to begin with. Why did I let them go through with this. It got worse only. Go find healer now. Me not know the spell.

[IMG] Yeah orc, you are right. Ok boys, try not to die on the way.

[IMG] Hah! You dropped first you... siss-

    :hmmm:

[IMG] They died already? Okay then, let's loot their bodies and find some ditch we can throw their bodies into-

[IMG] Wait, they no dead. They breathe.

Fortunately poison can only reduce you to unconcious, but doesn't get removed. If we healed them in some way or rested, they would still take damage until we manage to cure them.

[IMG] Allright then, orc, what was your name, Arkeus? Okay, Arkeus, take the Crusader and Dunstan can carry the dwarf.

[IMG] And what are you going to carry then?

[IMG] Shut up, slave, you were the one who wanted to help.

    [IMG] ...fine.

Night falls and our heroes manage to find the Chapel of Elrath, where someone can heal our two poisoned companions.

Thank you Duke Anton, you were always a bro!

Finally we can end this bullshit.

[IMG] Donation? I should've figured the church would be nothing but a bunch of moneygrubbers. Our friends are dying here.

:oops:Hey, these fancy robes and chapels don't pay themselves. Besides, we use the money we get to help the needy.

[IMG] But we are needy! We sleep on the streets, don't have a have a home, drink foul liquids from random barrels and those two here are dying from being bitten by some stupid giant vermin. Who the fuck is more needy then us?

:oops:Sorry, but this is not actually a charity. We just donate the money for tax returns and pretend to give a fuck to improve our public image. Either pay up or go die in a gutter.

    [IMG] *grumbles* Fine:takemymoney:.

Church of Elrath sure is full of greedy assholes.

So we heal everyone to full and then cure Pariah and MicoSelva, blowing half of our money in the process. Since we are here, let's chat up the greedy bastards holy priestesses.

Well, good you see it that way. Let's go talk to the other, another selectable hero from Heroes 6.

[IMG] Finally, sweet salvation. Hey you, can you tell us somothing about the governor? I need to impress him so that he will promote me to a paladin.

Well, I am sure this won't be important later on whatsoever.

[IMG] Guys, do you think that if we find the old governor that he will promote me to a paladin in case the new guy doesn't want to?

[IMG] I wouldn't get your hopes up boy.

    This won't be important either.

[IMG] Yeah sure, sounds like fun!

[IMG] "Bah, don't we have better things to do?"

[IMG] Like what, camping in the streets like hobos until that blockade disappears?

    [IMG] Touché.

And with that Rosalie joins our little band of adventurers. This is actually one of the main quests you need to finish (the others are given by Maximus and he would've sent you to her eventually) and Rosalie is pretty damn useful. She allows us to discover secrets and traps, which is otherwise only possible by either having Expert Dark Magic and casting Whispering Shadows, using scrolls of said spells or with another kinda obscure hireling (atleast he is free) later in the game. Well, and by obtaining the Blesssing of Malassa, but more on that later.

Moving on through the dark streets of Sorpigal.

We come upon an abandoned house with nothing of interest in it.

[IMG] Bah, there's nothing to loot here guys, let's move on.

Here we have finally reached the city exit, only to be told by Dunstan that we suck to much to wander off from the city.

Some other scenic pictures from our night walk. Like this guard who won't let us outside until the tutorial is over...

Or this well which seems to have dried blood on the inside walls.

Or this quiet corner with the full heal fountain on the right.

Or this nice little barrel which surely doesn't contain spiders of any sort.

[IMG] Yay, stat boost! Let's open it!

[IMG] You crazy? There is gonna be another spider leaping out of it so leave it-

Or this nice cuddly spider who immediately attacks Krivolina.

[IMG] Shit. Okay buddy, you asked for this, Firebolt!

[IMG] ...fuck no, please stay away from me! I don't want to go through that again!

This one is a pushover though and quickly dies without poisoning anyone.

[IMG] See? Everything is fine, don't worry.

[IMG] ...spiders, they are going to get me, they are everywhere, waitting for the right moment to eat me alive, please no more spiders...

Horse Haven, eh? Let's go there.

    Maybe later.

[IMG] Oh hello there. Finally, I thought that jerk Christian with his ship was the only means of transportation in this backwater shithole.

[IMG] Oh, you know Christian? We have a gentlemans deal, me and him. He rips people off at sea while I exploit them on land. Fair, huh?

[IMG] I think this is the sort of situation where everyone loses. Most of all truth, justice, fairness and solidarity.

[IMG] Who cares about that shit. What do you want anyway?

[IMG] Can you take us to Karthal?

    [IMG] Figures.

[IMG] Since we are stuck here, let's talk about the time I was a Windsword instead...

Sadly none of us can join the Windswords since we don't have a Mercenary among us.

[IMG] Well can you take us to that Seahaven place? Anywhere better than here, this place is full of spiders.

[IMG] No, complete the tutorial noob!

The marketplace is as bustling as ever.

We will definitely head there later, but right now we are still level 1 and nowhere close to reaching expert in any skill.

Near the training centre we find this guy, apparently the Harbourmaster and the closest this town has to a major.

[IMG] Great, another one of Christian's asshole friends. Let's just keep moving.

[IMG] No, I am sure he has something important to tell us.

:salute:"The fellow in the tavern, Jassad once told me that he visited the "other Sorpigals". I wonder what he meant by that."

    [IMG] Surely nothing important.

[IMG] Sure, let us do all the work for half the reward. Great. I see why you and Christian are friends.

Moving on, we check out the alchemist.

[IMG] They also give me lot's of money to identify trinkets for them, teehee. It's a gold mine, I tell you.

And afterwards let's stare creepily at some girl in the middle of night.

:oops:So, you gonna ask me something? Like my opinion about the imperial reforms?

[IMG] Well, I was going to but... well... I enjoy the view.

:oops:Please go away before I call the guards.

We find Sorpigal's Arcane library, where we can buy any novice spell. And some expert ones aswell. Let's check it out.

Oh yeah, it used to, before some asshole named Kiril blew it up and plunged it to the depths of Hell. Thanks Kiril!

    Yes, finally! Let's go shopping:desu:.

[IMG] Yes, the vast amount of knowledge stored here shall make me powerful. Ork like books!

    ...or not.

[IMG] 400 gold just to read a book? Are you crazy?

:obviously:Hey there, young lady, do you have any idea how much money do I need for porn- ehm, keeping these priceless relics intact? Thousands gold I say! Thousands! Right, thousands! Definitely not using it for anything else...

Lacking the funds to read the old mans books we go smash some barrels...

    ...invade some more privacy...

    ...bother old women...

    ...and get some new quests...

...and visiting the weaponsmith while absolutely broke for no reason other then to say Hi.

[IMG] Let's just hit the tavern guys. I swear, when I offered to show you around I didn't know it would take 2 days. Some newbies...

Sure, that's a good idea. Let's meet the inkeeper who looks like he is doing the trollface. While others are busy getting drunk, Arkeus chats with the goblin chef here.

[IMG] You have no idea how glad I am to finally talk to someone with a brain dear friend. For the last few months it was as if I were surrounded by the definition of ignorance itself.

+MI sure did enjoy your presence, oh wise shaman, chosen of Mother Earth and Father Sky. Your kind words calmed my troubled heart and gave me a new perspective in life. No longer do I wish to simply survive. If you can promise me some money I can travel with your group and cook delicious meals for you. No longer would you have to survive on tough jerky and whatever the dwarf manages to hit and your spirits shall surely rise after a good meal. Do tell that to those ignorants you travel with.

[IMG] Thank you, great Kengi, that is indeed a generous offer. Hey guys, can Kengi come too? He cook. Goood!

[IMG] A goblin chef? You serious? What would we need that for? Pass.

Let's go talk to the other customers. And not to Orlene's and Catarina's triplet in the background.

:pete:My other colleague is busy cataloguing eastern side of Ashan while I explore the western part to help the Ancients protect this world from an imminent Kreegan invasion.

    [IMG] What?

[IMG] You know, that seem oddly fammiliar.

:pete:...nevermind, just act as if you've never heard the last sentence. Will you help me with my research?

[IMG] Sure, you will pay us, right?

After meeting our cyborg ancient in disguise lovely fellow Jassad, we finally head where we were supposed to go 2 days earlier.

[IMG] "You see, I don't exactly abide by the law."

[IMG] You are a criminal? Sweet, let's kill him and turn his head in for a reward!

[IMG] Hold on, I'm sure he will be worth more alive, Arkeus hold him while I go fetch some rope.

[IMG] Wait everybody, he has the right for a fair trial before they hang him for his crimes. Let's not be hasty and just turn him in.

[IMG] Filthy evildoer, I shall smite you in the name of Elrath!

[IMG] Mother Earth, what are they doing, is this what it comes to? "You. Go. NOW!"

[IMG] You don't have to tell me twice, buddy.

    And so we lose Dunstan.

[IMG] Shit, he escaped! I told you we should have turned him in dead.

[IMG] He can run, but that filthy sinner shall not escape the radiant justice of Elrath. I shall pursue him and any others like him to the ends of the world. They shall face the light of Elrath and burn until only ashes remain!

[IMG] Sweet, you said it girl!

    [IMG] ...let's go inside.

[IMG] Hello there slave, we wish to speak to your master Captain Maximus. Don't keep us waitting or else...

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] ...

    [IMG] What?

[IMG] Krivolina, let me introduce you to Captain Maximus, leader of the town guards.

    [IMG] Since when do orcs-

[IMG] One more word and I will gut you like a fish with my bare hands, understand?

    [IMG] ...sorry.

    [IMG] Heh.

[IMG] So what was it that you want from me?

[IMG] We heard that you have need of raiders, noble chief. We wish to assist you in any way neccessary.

[IMG] Please, let us prove ourselves to you. We shall not disappoint.

[IMG] Very well, but only because you asked so nicely... I have something for you. "Don't worry, I won't ask you to kill rats in a cellar."

    [IMG] Well, that's a relief!

[IMG] We will go kill spiders in a well instead.

[IMG] ...fucking knew it, those spiders are coming for me, Arkath have mercy...

[IMG] Oh, don't worry about that. We already killed lot's of giant spiders arround town without breaking a sweat, right guys?

[IMG] ...fucking spiders, they are going to eat me alive and suck my blood and devour my soul and...

And with that Maximus joins our party. He is about half as effective as the actual Bodyguard hireling, having only two blocks unlike her 4, but it still helps a lot. We are definitely going to get that hireling sometime.

With that out of the way, let's go to the town well...

...and into the dungeon we go!

[IMG] Say, why is the town well connected to some catacombs?

[IMG] Don't question things and go kill stuff.

    It sure looks welcoming.

[IMG] ...I knew it, we are going to the depths of Sheogh itself, depths of hell, spider hell, tormented by spiders for all eternity...

[IMG] Would you shut up and get a frip on yourself?

And the first spider shows up! This is basically the tutorial of the game, showing you different positions the enemies can attack from. This one just popped in one tile before us and moved in to our melee range. There would be tuturial tips showing up if I didn't already get them during the fights with the barrel spiders.

Let's get tactical. First we hit him as hard as possible with the other three characters and Krivolina then pushes the spider one tile backwards, forcing the spider to use it's turn for movement.

Rinse and repeat and we kill it.;)

Moving on, we encounter a spider on the other side of the bridge, while the game would've explained ranged attacks to us.

We kill it with magic instead, though crossbow also helps, as MicoSelva manages the coup-de-grace.

[IMG] Haha, take that you eight-legged bastards! Man, I killed that spider with one shot, did you see that?

    [IMG] [IMG] Yeah, right.

MicoSelva continues to outdamage Pariah in melee as a ranged character even though I never put any points in Might with him. Kudos to that :salute:.

    [IMG] Taste my axe, fiend!

Right now, this is basically popaspider corridor made to teach you basics of the game and not to scare away the Mass Effect crowd.

Like when we get to this room at the end of the popaspider tunnel we learn a new thing, enemies ambush you by appearing out of thin air like in Dragon Age 2 and surround you. Thankfully it's far less jarring here. No squad of templar ninjas in full plate armor is gonna drop from the ceiling here.

Thankfully we have great luck with blocking and the spiders themselves don't do any damage anyway. The worst thing they can do is poison us and I think only the boss and the ones after her can do that anyway.

After dealing with the "ambush" we can loot two chests in the room for some gold, potions and useless trash we can sell.

Also while we were at the alchemist I identified one of the four Uplay relics, Crag Hack's Helmet for 300 gold and gave it to Pariah. Right now it only gives 3 armor, but soon it will level up.

Onwards to the obvious boss room.

[IMG] Heh, this wasn't hard at all. Stupid spiders, can't believe I was ever afraid of you. You hear that? MicoSelva is afraid of no spider!

    [IMG] ...mommy!

[IMG] Nasty little bugger, truly this is the spider queen.

    [IMG] Kill it!

[IMG] Right on it! Try to keep up with me at spellslinging, orc!

    [IMG] Not worry about that.

Spider Queen is the first real hard enemy in the game. She hits hard and constantly poisons you characters. Melee also keep getting blocked and missing, with spells being your most reliable way of doing damage since she doesn't seem to have any resistances.Mana runs out quickly at this stage though and you need to keep using potions to stay alive and antidotes to get rid of poison. But thats why the spiders before her dropped lots of them.

    [IMG] Oh no, not again!

We just have to keep peeling off her life bit by bit until she dies. Really simple boss.

We can also stop nuking and use some defensive spells, like this handy thing. Unfortunately due to being poor we couldn't afford regeneration. Pariah uses his mana to cast Celestial Armor, which absorb a set amount of damage until it breaks.

[IMG] Oh my, I can feel the spider venom coursing through my blood circulation. The toxins have to be neutralized before too long. Arkeus not feeling well.

[IMG] You and me both, buddy.

[IMG] Just grin and bear it you crybabies, it's not that bad-

Only by a miracle does Krivolina stay alive, as only about two damage more and she would have died. Right now she is just unconcious, but another hit will kill her off. Since we don't have healing spells and you can't use potions on unconcious characters it doesn't really make any difference in this fight.

[IMG] Finally, that shut her up. Heh.

[IMG] Only three of us left, we have to hold together!

[IMG] ...spider queen, she came for me, I can feel it...

The ice bolt reduction of attacks does help a lot in this fight though.

    Let's just keep hacking...

    [IMG] ...no, no, NOOO!!!!!

    [IMG] Relax just drink this.

    [IMG] Feeling better?

    [IMG] ...much better...

[IMG] I'm glad for that. Should be a breeze from now on and-

    [IMG] Fuck you, Pariah.

    [IMG] AAARGH!

[IMG] Ok, I still didn't want that to happen to you.

    [IMG] Nor that...

    [IMG] ...definitely not that...

[IMG] ...shit. Well, it's just me and you, spider...

    [IMG] Arkeus here too.

[IMG] Yeah, yeah, don't ruin my dramatic speech please.

    [IMG] Sorry.

[IMG] You think I'm gonna run just because you are poisonous? Well think again, you eight-legged monstrosity, MicoSelva doesn't afraid of anything! I am going to chop you down to tiny pieces and make you into hamburgers, you hear that?

And so he does, because Arkeus just ran out of mana and got poisoned.

    [IMG] "And stay down!"

Well and so the spider queen is dead. MicoSelva and Arkeus get 1000 XP and immediately jump a level, the others are screwed, since they were unconcious at the time and as such do not get XP.

[IMG] Yeah, that's right spiders, no one messes with me and lives!

    [IMG] Orc not feel well.

[IMG] Just drink the antidote and rest until those two wake up. Me, I'm gonna make some spider burgers *chuckles*

As you can see on the map, thus far the dungeon was about as nonlinear as any Mass Effect 1 mission. Don't worry though, from now on it's much better.

    8 hours later...

[IMG] Morning guys. Wanna some spider burgers? They are really crunchy, I made them myself!

[IMG] Ugh, what happened. Is it over already?

[IMG] Pretty much. I killed the spider with Arkeusis help, the orc gave us our reward and we leveled up while you guys got nothing.

    [IMG] [IMG] What?

[IMG] Oh don't be so surprised, you missed half of the battle. Let's clean out the rest of this cavern, maybe we can find some stuff.

[IMG] Dwarf fought like true warrior.

[IMG] Alright then, but for now I am gonna keep in the back.

We can improve Arkeusis and MicoSelvas skills and attributes, but I hold on to them for now since I am not sure what to put them in.

The rest of the dungeon definitely branches off a bit, but nothing major. Just more spiders to kill and more rooms with treasure chests where spiders ambush us.

    [IMG] Ugh...

[IMG] Just grin and bear it, Krivolina.

[IMG] Yeah, you don't want to be some kind of crybaby, right?

[IMG] I... fucking... hate you... all of you...

Moving on past the spiders we find a treasure chest...

...obligatory barrel with a spider in it...

    [IMG] Oh for fucks sake.

    ...some more spiders...

And finally the cove the harbourmaster spoke about.

[IMG] Oh, so that's why the tunnels exist in the first place. After the smuggling operation ceased the spiders must have moved in.

[IMG] Or the operations ceased because of the spiders.

[IMG] Let's just take the chest and get out of this hole.

And so we do, but not before being ambushed by spiders after picking up the chest.

Suffice to say, they are easily dealt with and the poison is cured.

[IMG] Suck on my Fireballs freaks!

[IMG] You mean that literaly or-

    [IMG] Shut up!

We just kill spiders in the neighbouring room and loot the chest there. Done, the dungeon is clear.

And with that, we can return to the town!

Another update, hopefully you don't mind all of that LARPing.

I'm fine with it. For what you have shown so far, it doesn't seem to be too diferent compared with other fantasy murderhobo simulators M&M titles.

One word of advice, you might want to hide the updates in [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags for easier thread navigation. I like what I see, keep it up!

Azira: Judging by the reactions in the MMX thread the reactions are mostly positive. I love the game aswell, though the loading times and lag gets worse and worse. It's worth the price regardless.

MicoSelva: Glad you are enjoying it :D And sorry for Thurmond-chan, couldn't resist:troll:

Next update should be on the weekend, unless something changes as I am now really busy. It should include the whole Lighthouse plus some minor things.

Anyway, I thought I would post something about what builds I am considering for our 4 heroes.

    Pariah:

Attribute-wise, this class is probably the most MAD one of the bunch. Perception is useless but that's about it. I have been investing points mostly in might and spirit. Magic is definitely going to be raised aswell, replacing spirit once I get a comfortable mana level. Some points will go to vitality, destiny could be useful, but he is spread too thin as it is.

As for skills, definitely going to raise sword as fast as possible so that he will hit reliably, I think heavy armor and shield could stay on expert for some time so that Light Magic can be developed sooner. Not sure about Endurance, Air Magic and Arcane Discipline. I guess that depends on whether we want him to be more of a tank or caster. I think Light Magic Grandmaster would be great for him with Air dumped to oblivion since we have a Freemage. Warfare could also be another option.

I will try to make him a Paladin as soon as possible for the great abilities they get, but that is a long way to go from now.

    MicoSelva:

Attribute-wise, I put points into perception and vitality, but probably going to switch to might and perception since ranged combat is underwhelming. We could also raise spirit and magic if we want to use him as a secondary caster.

For skills, that depends on what we want from him, since he can grandmaster axe and master dual-wield we could turn him into a melee fighter and still gradmaster crossbow (since turning a primarily range class into a melee fighter seems kinda lame to me :D), or we could throw some magic into the mix. He can master Fire and Light, both of which are good schools. Medium armour is going atleast to expert.

I am going to promote everyone, but the Pathfinder abilities are probably the worst ones in the game. Range is useless and snaring shot mimics earth magic novice spell.

    Krivolina:

Attributes are a no brainer, 2 Magic 2 Spirit all the way, with some minor investment to vitality so that she doesn't die in one hit. She has only 52 HP right now :D Going to ignore spirit and go straight magic once the mana level seems good enough.

Skills are also mostly set. As Krivol wanted, Grandmaster Magical Focus is going to be our goal, as is Grandmaster Air Magic. I realize she is mostly using Firebolt right now, but that's because Air doesn't have single target ranged damage spell until Expert (I don't count Gust of Wind). And with high Magic stat Firebolt should still be viable in case Air gets resisted. Dark will definitely be atleast expert for Whispering Shadows, I don't really see a point in going higher except for sleep. But if you really want to, we can Grandmaster Dark. Primordial Magic is something I would like to get aswell, since Implosion is crazy powerful at Grandmaster. Hour of Power is also a great buff. I am not sure if we should dabble in other schoos with her at all, since we also have Arkeus for the other ones.

Archmage ability sounds great, so definitely going to finish the quest as soon as possible.

    Arkeus:

Attributes will probably be the same as for Krivolina, with less spirit because of the advanced class ability.

Like Arkeus wanted, Water magic and Earth magic will be a no-brainer. Going to leave Air for Krivolina. Magical focus will probably also get to master, not sure what else to get.

Bloodcaller gets a nifty passive that restores mana for health lost which makes him less reliant on potions.

If you have any suggestions or comments in regards to the builds, feel free to share them. :)

In M&M 6 and 7 dark magic was probably the best offensive magic. If here it is worthless, then feel free to skip this and go with primordial (sounds shitty, but implosion was great in previous games). And about Krivolina's HPs - don't be afraid! Mages almost never die in M&M series

It's not shitty, it just has only a few good spells and the few spells it has are really good. It has mostly debuffs with the only offensive magic being life drain and that spell sucks. I am not sure how many skills we can take to Grandmaster, so that's why I am considering what to take. Especially when we want Grandmaster Magical Focus.

Here is the spell list btw. http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/826946-Spell-list-Forums

Plan for 3 Grandmaster skills + a bit of left over points. 4 Grandmaster skills is possible but requires razor-thin focus + XP boosting sidekicks + you'll only GM your 4th at the very end and barely be able to use it.

Eriador, you missed a secret door in the spider lair (it gives a chest, a funny anecdote, and a secondary exit/entry to the lair).

Whispering Shadows is actually a novice spell you can already get (yay!), and you can count on getting 3 skills to grandmaster by the end (and 1 in Master) but that's only if you focus them.
