E) Because there's nothing possibly worse

And here's how we escaped from captivity:

Shoulda picked Catachans, bros. Now I want to play a badass dude like Michael and I'm on the brink of flopping... and/or watching the Deer Hunter again for the fiftieth time.

D. Because the Tyrant Star is awesome and I know root has a stiffy for the Haarlock legacy. As do I.

5. Stitching ourselves and others up is useful, and it opens up for gathering more intelligence in the current mission.

3. Big guns make loud boom

M. Because womyn belong in the kitchen, not on the battlefield. :patriot:

X. Stern, because that's what we are.

EDIT: Flipflopped a bit.

Shame I just flopped. :M

Surviving an encounter with any of those means we're exceptionally tough, skilled or just damn lucky, but witnessing D) and staying sane while entire star systems go batshit means we have some seriously resilient mind and in the end that counts for more than anything else in the 41st millenium.

fucking occularians

Origin story - C) Fuck spehs mahrines, surviving a close encounter with a jeanstealer is much, much more impressive. And besides, jeanstealers are cool. That is, of course, assuming the encounter was survived and not 'survived' :smug:

you see its barbed tongue spearing Private Jensen’s chest.

He never asked for this :(

Specialty - The genestealer origin would suggest some seriously serious wrestling, so 2

Gender: M

M. Because womyn belong in the kitchen, not on the battlefield. :patriot:

Name - Shepard

You're all wasting a perfect excuse to enrich this thread with imperial nurse pics.

Combat medic's gotta be a hell of alot more exciting than filling out a bunch of these:

B) because we are fighting chaos here, and taking out a chaos marine is pretty awesome for a guardsman

5) because it sounds useful for our mission, and making ourselves useful to the Inquisitor makes BLAM less likely

F) because why not

Z) Shepard

A chaos marine killing combat nurse - sounds interesting.

Sounds like munchkinry. That's actually why I flopped. Just seems so convenient that we're going to a place that we think might be Chaos-tainted and *surprise* we pick a background related to Chaos. C,D,E seem like my favourites.

Remember, we don't know if it's Chaos out there. It could just as likely be Tyranid goop all over the hive-city.

D, because the black star mentioned is the Tyrant Star; surviving its manipulations (and possibly the Outsider, although probably not in this continuity) is by far the most remarkable backstory.

5, bio-knowledge seems useful for a bio-based mission

M

Y; for those of you not familiar with the reference, it's this guy:

edit: nevermind, flopping to Shepard

I just went with what seemed most Awesome. I hope you're not all taking me seriously when I predict we'll be shitting nurglings within 8 updates. (Although we totally will). We went with ork trophy at the start and it had no impact on the enemy we ended up facing.

What's more likely is that our background is going to decide what our psychological condition's gonna be like. For instance, going Derp eldar will probably give us a fuckload of insanity points. tyrant star/chaos mehreen will probably mean we start with some corruption points. Genestealer means we've got a risk of being infected by tyranids etc. Or possibly they'll give us some sort of benefit. IE Forbidden Knowledge (enemy type) or bravery/jaded/toughness depending on the circumstances survived.

I though it was obvious it was Nurgle cultist we were facing (what with the summoning and all). Now, I admit that a chaos fighting background does sound a bit too convenient, but taking out a chaos marine is so awesome for a guardsman it is just too good to pass by.

D) also means we have some seriously powergamed willpower, it doesn't matter that you're Sergeant McBadass slayer of xenos and heretics if you faint like a lovecraftian character when you see somebody being posessed.

You see, when you say things like "we'll be shitting nurglings within 8 updates" it just rolls off the tongue so nicely that I can't not take you seriously.

Not if your name is Shepard. Flopped the origin story to D

WITHIN 8 updates. Sooner is far more likely. Do we get to name the nurglings too, or at the very least pick which orifice they emerge from first?

B because KHAY-HOSS
3 because MORE DAKKA
M because what Esquilax said, and less chance for direct Slaanesh tentacle raep.

This is a good argument for picking a female character. More orifices to choose from.

Slaanesh isn't picky. Just means your orifice will be tighter :mhd:
