He should be able to give us some helpful information about the hold itself, and praying to the machine-god together with an adept of the priesthood might enhance our fighting capabilities with our new arm. Maybe he can upgrade it a little. Please let him do it. Pwetty pwease? :)

Btw, does Schäfer get some information about the success of the other companies? And what the fuck is the deathwatch doing here, when the IG is sent to deal with both the boltershells and the enemy at the refinery? Do I want to know?

But it'll add to the drama when another platoon gets raped in the refinery! :M

The Deathwatch are the chamber militant of the Inquisition's Ordo Xenos. So, while they hate Chaos as much or more than your average space marine,* their focus is the alien and ooze threat.

*Aside from the force commander on the Thronum, who is a pariah and thus doesn't really hate.

Yeah, that's what I figured. What I wanted to know though is what exactly it is they're investigating, and whether Schäfer knows about it.

Did you miss the strange mutagenic black ooze infesting the hive and the xenomorphs that have been killing guardsmen left and right? :M

He's not going to give it back, he's a commissar! plus, the legality of us owning it already sketchy due to bureaucratic shenanigans.

Ezekiel Hex was a protégé of Silas Marr IIRC, and Nils Aggern most likely has connections to him as well. Add in our protagonists connections with the Calixis Sector (and the Tyrant Star, Marr's latest obsession) and maybe we can look forward to an appearance of that pleasant Inquisitor in this LP as well. :M

They're not exactly strolling around on the planet hoping it falls in their hands, do they? Do they have some actually leads they're following, are they secretly dissecting specimen together with the magos biologis, are they having a wining and dining at the starport tasting different samples of black ooze with Mr. Agern?

They are probably just waiting until you pinpoint the center of command or hive or whatever, then they go, clear it and return to their watch fortress in time for the next assignment.

Hm... Sounds somewhat similar to the last deathwatch round we played. We basically waited in our battlecruiser for like a month. The only action we had was when some servitors got corrupted/reprogrammed. Our Assault marine managed to lose an arm in the "fight" and our Psyker summoned a daemon that now calls that very cruiser home. Funniest dicerolls of my life.

That's why I love any modern Warhammer RPG. Fantasy mages get Chaos manifestations not unlike the stuff psykers cause. Oh, and even the ancient 1986 version had BRUTAL critical hit tables to be used on unsuspecting players :smug:

You forgot to add the part where the squads have to climb on the hull, but forgot to bring climbing equipment. :M

"Why would I ever bother training climb and swim, surely Darth Roxor would never devise a scenario where both are needed. Dump stats..."

Yeah, it's just a shame that those chaos manifestations in WFRP are completely pathetic compared to 40k perils of the warp.
And the part where the squads carefully examine each and every door and corridor for signs of traps, tripwires, surprise rapes and stealth fields before proceeding :M

And the part where the players meticulously study every inch of a hallway lined with paintings for clues for several HOURS worth of IRC chat without ANY of them ever wondering if there's something BEHIND one of the paintings.

It's k brah, you should have seen them yesterday, when they ran across a non-puzzle secret door, didn't even bother doing anything with it, and just walked away saying 'we are prob too dumb for this puzzle, let's return later' :M

 Majestic. I should start kibitzing again. It's like watching a mixture between shadowrun and paranoia with arrogant eldar sprinkled liberally on top.
