Considering they don't like swarthy skin (pretty, pretty swarthy skin!) and are aparently marching ahead in a campaign of war, espionage and ecological terrorismo, this is pretty much how they are being played. Hail Taoiseich Deirdre!

Yeah kiddies, its not even 2200 and in the future, War Was Beginning...

... some helluva beginning, too!

Spartans getting smart, boats are important here. A ship at sea and all that.

Also, Morganites are pretty weak atm, ain't they? 8 votes? Pssh. To be fair, Morganites are probably one of the weakest factions in the early-game. If they survive with enough mass later on they can become a monster with Free-Market economajistics ensuring them immense reserves of Morganvolts.

Well, morganites are pretty much the weakest faction in the game so it's not surprising they don't do that well (especially without starting in one of the few broken areas). Especially against human foes against whom it's rather hard to perform solar array spam and stuff like that. They're really dependant on getting solo continent, just like the spartans are really screwed by getting an entire continent of their own. Unlike the believers, they don't have any kind of economical recovery system. But it's not like you can do much about this kind of randomness in Alpha Centauri.

That's because they suck at early-game, they don't have any advantages like the Gaians' early game mind worms and fungus bonus (which makes them helluva scouters and rushers and tend easier with planetlife), the Spartans' morale and police advantages (allowing for early-game rushes and easier city growth) or the Hive's immense growth, production and efficiency penalty-immunity (allowing them to do a Police State-Planned economy that has killer production and army support without crashing into a halt due to -4 inneficiency).

Morganites only become on-par with the others if they can expand somewhere isolated, expand enough and then go Democratic-Free Market-Wealth and rake on cash.

Still it's somewhat amazing when you get your habs and +1 energy per square and ramp Labs to 100%, while also getting hundreds of energy per turn, blatantly buying world wonders, stacks of copters and space marines.

Just that before you need to survive Santiago's rapists, Allah's rush, friendly green bros and 20 communist impact rovers.
Even bloody Lal is bothersome...

Also, M.Y. 2200 seems to shape up to be the year of ITZ in more ways than mere Believing-Hive butchery. Gaian forces are pushing into Spartan territory, having recently scored a spectacular victory against an unapproved, non-ecofriendly nutrient farm (though sadly, the valiant warriors of nature died soon after). Meanwhile, the University has attacked the Peacekeepers, paid by a suspicious third party. Spartans deny involvement, Morganites stress Switzerland-policy. Fascist plot, chocolate-jew trickery or insidious attempt by Yang to stir up trouble? No one can rightly tell, but the Gaian-University friendship is bound to take a turn for the worse.

TBH, Svensgaard (who is SMAX, but still) is much more suited for that kind of gameplay. Sure, he has no innate economical bonuses, but tidal harnesses (especially when you discover and colonize the geotermal shallows which is really easy because the sea is absolutely yours) are extremely good at pumping out energy galore and Svensgaard has what Morgan really lacks - he doesn't give a damn about any kind of early and even mid rush strat. He's probably a bit broken in that department, even.

:flamesaw:

Seargent Clegane knows how to interrogate, especially if women and babies are involved (gaian troops can be considered both simultaneously since all they can do is burn farming equipment).

In other news the Geopolitical situation is unfolding just as I expected. The next 100 turns will definitely be interesting.

PS. The Pirates are the very definition of broken, although the fact sea bases got considerably buffed in SMAX is the fault of that.

Yeah, the RNG is fucking you quite a bit the last few turns. Looks like no chance for peace and negotiations for 20 turns.

:troll:

You also lost two worms, one due to 5:5 odds and one because my rover withdrew when losing and back up came on my turn to murder your wounded worms. So add that to the RNG screw tally. Can't have it all go lucky after Lal's warfare incompetence and landing near Monsoon Jungle.

Sadly no screenshots of the worm purging, widescreen fix makes me unable to alt-tab and I forgot to turn on screenshot captor.

Also the nautilus killed yet another wild isle of the ITZ despite looking like it was going to be its last battle against the obviously Nazi Planetmind, that ship probably killed 7 by now and it's still going.

Also sadly the RNG did fuck me somewhat by making a monolith vanish (or that was me abusing its morale bonus too much).

:rage:

Mission Year 2206

Fierce battles rage across Terra Sparta as the proactive defence expedition continues with great savagery. Spartan rover teams have been employing hit-and-run tactics, ambushing the less mobile Mind Worms and their Broodmasters, disengaging before the boils manage to close in. Several operatives have been lost to the onslaught, though not without inflicting some considerable damage in return.

Bruised and bloodied blackshirts taste the fury of Planet

As the fighting at the front intensifies by the day, all hope of a peaceful resolution has been obstructed by sunspot activity, temporarily rendering conventional planetary communications impossible. Unable to receive instructions from Eastern Command except by means of extremely long-range telepathy (an unreliable method at best) local officers have assumed near-total control of the operation. Under the new regime, Defiance Freehold, now renamed Camp Joy in honour of its new Commander, has been thoroughly pacified by the Garden Eco-Police, quite likely in a harsher manner than the Council would have approved of.

Surviving prisoners have been put to work, and while nerve-stapling still remains anathema to the Gaian forces, they have made examples out of the most insolent of the manfools. More than a few troublemakers have been sacrificed to the worms, and row after row of severed heads adorn the battlements - constant, brutally efficient reminders of the price one pays for defying Mother Planet.

1st Peacemaker Company destroys Spartan Heracles Rovers

Though clearly inferior in terms of formal training and outfitting, Gaian troops have so far been able to offset the disadvantage with their telepathic warfare. Amplified mind warping attacks, long-range psych scans and non-consensual thought transference has helped secure several victories, while local Empath-to-Empath telepathic coordination has provided an excellent means to work around the sunspot interference. In late December M.Y. 2206, another group of Heracles Rovers was thus ambushed and destroyed, this time by the 1st Peacemaker Company. Mere days later, Spartan rovers in the north were overwhelmed by Broodmaster Starfruit and her psionic host, utterly obliterating both vehicles and crews within.

Despite these successes, however, the Spartans show no signs of giving up, and while they could field near-endless recruits to make up for their losses, the Gaian expeditionary force dwindles at every casualty. Without reinforcements, it will be increasingly difficult to hold current positions, and judging by what the Empaths have managed to glean from Eastern Command, they can expect precious few to arrive in the immediate future.

Rovers retreated again, superior Spartan training prevails :smug:

Also if you call this savagery, in reference to the ferocity of your assault on Spartan clay, wait until I pay you back in kind.

Military simulation software? Violent holoreels? Combat programs? Marching music?

Forget all that bro! Purification of Fort Superiority Datalinks has replaced all non-approved content with wholesome, relaxed entertainment for the whole family! Righteous worm poetry, stunning nature collages, sweet love-making in the wilds and mighty hip drummin solos in tune with Planet herself! Not interested? Sorry bro, this automated cultural enlightenment is for YOUR benefit. No need to spread the word - Gaian enrichment code will do it for you! Peace yo!

Sunk with a 40% damaged foil. Only got one hit on the Kraken. :smug:

Was hunting for that bastard for the last few turns. If it wasn't for the Isle of the ITZ I would have sunk it earlier.

Yeah, thought it was a probe team since I got no message in the event log and suddenly drone riots at 3 pop and no recreation commons.

So Hellraiser is steamrolling everyone else atm?

Lol, no. I'm like 3rd weakest at the moment. Lal and Morgan (Cassidy) being worse off. Zakharov is more or less equal. Kalin with his Gayans is at the top of the food chain, followed by the Hive and Believers (who are finally at war with each other after much unresolved sexual tension between Miriam and Yang over methaphysics and borders).

War effort went a bit south the last 3 turns with Kalin managing to get some gains, making us more or less equal now (ignoring the lost shitty base on my part). Lost 2 Heracles Rovers and a Vulcan SPG. Luckily the mistakes of the past are about to rectified.

I mean honestly what else could the hippies throw at me? :M

Well, that looks like it's going to take a lot of flame gun saw fuel to burn.

:flamesaw::flamesaw::flamesaw:

On a more positive note the SNV Kraken is back to hunting for victims at sea after repairs at Bunker 118. Also this war makes my blood sing.
