This is a watershed in this thread, you'll see why in the end of this update. And because of how really important this watershed is itt, there will be for a change options for you to vote for. And they are very important too, bringing totally different consequences that will completely change the future of this AAR.

    ==============================

    The Beginning of the End

Advances continue to happen over Lithuania, with an increase in the administrative and legal means for direct rule for the King being one of the highest priorities in the cultural field.

Polotsk becomes a valuable title to prevent fragmentation because of Gavelkind, but now there is no more titles to share to other children of the King.

While the armies are recovering for a new expansionistic drive, Butavas had another son, which means expansion is necessary to given him a ducal title, allowing the current kingdom's desmesne to remain undivided.

Of course, there is an advantage of security in having many children, but it is always hard to manage for the best future of the kingdom.

Then, in the year of 1317, a tragedy began to unfold from the worst Giltine could concoct. A terrible plague began to bring massive deaths to Prussia, and it was spreading quickly. Not even the wealthy and noble were spared, for it likewise afflicted those from the most decadent gutter to the highest palace, leaving behind a toll never seen before by any other kind of plague. Some believed such was Giltine, the goddess of death personified, for it was truly frightening and deadly.

Kernave wouldn't be spared for much longer. The very life of the King was at stake. All precautions were being taken, but there wasn't much to be done. Butavas has chosen to lead his men into battle once more, this time to finish the liberation of Latvia from the false god and the Catholic Church, for he would rather risk his life in the battlefield than waiting for the black death to claim him inside his castle.

It was another trivial conquest, and now all Baltic peoples were united under Lithuania.

The Black Death continued to ravage through Lithuania, yet so far Butavas has been blissfully spared.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, the previous setbacks have meant nothing. Islam now is clearly and without a doubt a dying faith. The Mongols have expanded dramatically over the Middle East, and it is only a matter of time before they turn their attention to Europe instead, hopefully before the Catholic Church turns their attention to the Baltic. Having those Polish and Russian scumbags with their massive armies and ambitions set over Lithuania even after their past defeats already is enough trouble without a Crusade.

The Plague has hit the capital, while some rebel humanity has risen against the "devil's puppet king". Butavas didn't waste time, and led an army to crush the rebels, and hopefully avoid the plague while on the move.

Close people are starting to become afflicted. If Butavas dies now, the kingdom will be internally divided. This is not good.

Fortunately, Butavas outlived the dreaded Black Death by advancing with his soldiers. He lost some of his children, but such is life in the middle ages.

Epic Score - Prepare for the End

Then, as another trivial conquest against the remnants of the Livonian Order was on the way, the scum of Poland once again has launched a crusade for Prussia, gathering their massive legions to assault Lithuania. And they would most certainly not do it alone, for they are cowards, Slavic scum barely better than Russian scum who rely on massed numbers to compensate for their weakness in courage and personal strength.

For some funny reason, while the falafel was utterly removed from the Levant, the Reconquista never achieved complete success, and the stupid Kingdom of Castille gave land to the Teutonic Order in Iberia.

As the situation of Lithuania grows dire, Butavas became less of an edgy, jaded and cynical king. Pessimism was not a good trait in these times, for hope was needed for one to not succumb to despair.

The Polish scum have drawn to their "holy" war not only their massive armies, but also the even more massive armies of England and Bulgaria, making of this conflict a true crusade, a state of near total war between Lithuania and the Catholic world, considering how many of the mightiest Catholic kingdoms are supporting Poland. Lithuania lacks in numbers, and mercenaries are too expensive to be relied upon for anything other than one or two major battles at most. Yet, there still could be victory.

The victory against the Livonian Order could ultimately become a hollow victory, for a massive army advanced against them in Tartu, and new mercenaries would take too long to reinforce the weary men holding that province. A defeat here would not be bad, it would be a disaster that would erase any hopes of victory for Lithuania, specially now that the English have sent an army of over forty-thousand Crusaders to the Baltic. Against such numbers, the cynics would argue only intervention by the gods could bring victory.

The battle was shaping into a tragedy, and the hired mercenaries would arrive to late to stop it...

With his retreating army, Butavas swore to fight to his last breath, and he refused to give up, in spite of how vastly the enemy outnumbered their armies, specially after the terrible defeat at Tartu. They may conquer Prussia, but they will pay a high price for it!

Over Rezekne, the arrogant English were so confident in their victory they never sent reinforcements. It was there that heroes would be made, no matter how futile this may ultimately be, for even if this is the twilight of the gods, it will be a twilight with burning crosses and fanatics choking on their our blood. Victory or death!

    :salute:

However, the English legions are many, and this victory may have been devastating to them, but still far from enough to change the outcome of this hopeless conflict, where over sixty thousand crusaders are attacking Lithuania, while the treasury of the Kingdom will soon be unable to afford the Russian mercenaries. Another of such crushing victories is needed to save Lithuania, something near impossible considering the numbers and odds against them.

Then, at Chelmno, the disaster came. First they delivered massive casualties to an isolated enemy army, but they brought reinforcements, and massively outnumbered, the Lithuanian forces had no choice but to retreat, a disastrous retreat with an immense cost in lives.

Lithuania has lost the war on the conventional battlefield. Only a masterful Hitman operation could save Prussia from falling to the Potato scum now.

After the Battle of Chelmno, the Lithuanian Army was utterly defeated. It was only out of sheer stubborness that surrender didn't come, for defeat at this point was inevitable. The mercenary army was disbanded, for their wages ran the coffers of Lithuania dry, and the remnants of the Lithuanian levies, they would stand absolutely no chance. The King's retinue of cavalry had to be disbanded, otherwise it would have been annhilated by the massive legions after them.

"Why have the gods forsaken us?" from Kernave, the infamous words of Butavas would echoe and be registered in the History of Lithuania. There was no more hope. All they could do was to make them pay the heaviest price possible for such conquest, through massive attrition. Lithuania has lost...

Unless the allies of Poland were to suddenly perish, but at the point such a devious and truly Lithuanian way of turning the tide of this war was ready to be put in action, it could already be too late. Besides, Lithuania has literally nothing left. Even if all allies left them, Poland would still win. Yet, this was sought not for victory, but for revenge. Let them taste death, let them choke on their own blood, begging for mercy where there is none.

LET THEM EXPLODE IN A PIT OF SHIT TO MEET THEIR GOD!

Butavas actually dreamed of taking that bitch Queen of England as a concubine, but that was far beyond the capabilities of his kingdom. Thus, a grisly fate by the hands of the masters in the craft would be reserved for her, and it would happen soon, for her court had many who hated her enough to be willing to make deals with "heathens" for the sake of bringing her death.

Lithuania has survived the Black Death, but the winds were clearly blowing with dark tidings, of something much worse than the Bubonic Plague about to strike this great kingdom, much, much worse.

This is the beginning of the end for Lithuania, for, as if the gigantic hordes from Poland, England and Bulgaria and the almost certain loss of Prussia weren't enough bad news, the gaze of the Unholy See has been cast upon the Baltic, now that they have long secured their "holy lands" in Jerusalem, with Islam ceasing to be a threat, it was only a matter of time.

Losing Prussia means a terrible setback.

Losing the Crusade for Lithuania means the complete annihilation of the Lithuanian Kingdom and of the Gediminaitis dynasty.

Yet, even with the heavy attrition they shall suffer, with the armies of Lithuania decimated, this situation may mean the utter annihilation of Lithuania. The gods seem to have abandoned Lithuania, and perhaps now there is no other option than to convert to their vile religion, not honestly, but cynically, to then later, through the use of the masters of the craft, ensure all children of Butavas that converted to those lies shall die, leaving the throne again to a heathen, and thus saving Prussian and Lithuania at the cost of damnation for Butavas. Should Butavas convert to Catholicism or fight to the death, risking a 99.99999999999999% certain total annihilation of Lithuania and of his dynasty?

    1) Yes, it is the only choice. The Hitmen shall later bring Lithuania back to the old gods*.

    2) Never! Fight to the last breath against these Catholic tyrants, oppressors and fanatics!

*As they historically did by putting Mindaugas down after he converted to Orthodoxy

    =============

    Trash

Choo choo Crusade rape train ahead!

Looks like this is the end of the road. Options are essentially Convert or Die. There is absolutely no way to survive for Lithuania at this point, so think well about which choice to vote for, because voting for 2 almost certainly means there will be only one more update at best depicting the ultimate demise of Lithuania powerless to do anything but witness their forts falling to sieges one by one, while the conversion in 1 can be reverted through masterful hitman jobs later.

Alright, considering the likelihood of the "an hero" option getting more votes, here it goes.

    ==============================

God have mercy on England, because the Lithuanian Hitmen will have none!

    Hitman Blood Money: Ave Maria

With the complete subjugation and annihilation of Lithuania at stake, Butavas was faced a hard choice between fighting to the death for the gods, ultimately a futile gesture, or kneeling to the cross with deep seated cynicism, pretending to worship their God to put an end to the wars before they put an end to Lithuania. Butavas thus was baptized with much of his family, a hollow gesture in a still mostly pagan kingdom to save Lithuania from a final demise. The Pope rejoiced the news of a new kingdom joining their Church, yet they were fools to expect this to last.

The spiritual battle lost by Lithuania was only one of many successful "holy" wars, for since the conquest of the city of Jerusalem, never before in History the moral authority of Catholicism has been so high, unlike Orthodoxy, rife with Bogomil and Iconoclast heresies since Constantinople fell to the devious Republic of Venice.

To pretend to accept Jesus as Lord had some benefits. No longer trapped by the frail Gavelkind succession, Butavas began to take measures to transform Lithuania into an elective monarchy, where all Dukes would be able to put a vote for the next king... and all dukes in Lithuania remained faithful to the old gods, with the recently converted king having very little desire or interest to change that. Naturally, this was all according to the plan to trick the hypocrites, to spit on their cross during the night while praying to it during the day. For once Butavas dies, the Romuva faith shall once again return to the throne of Lithuania.

From retaining a pagan as the "court chaplain" to research rather than getting a priest to convert, to voting on a bright and pagan son of his, Butavas actions never hid his contempt over such essentially forced conversion.

With only 38 years of age, the Pope responsible for putting the Kingdom of Lithuania on their knees died. Whether an industrious and patriotic Lithuanian had anything to do with that or not is something the king is unaware of. Good riddance, and may he despair once he realizes there is no Heaven. There were however others that deserved to die, and one whore in particular was on the hit list of Lithuania.

Butavas have appreciated the deep irony of the title his Catholic subjects have given to him, too simple-minded to realize what happened.

To keep the Christian zealots distracted, a Grand Tournament was organized, the first in the history of the Kingdom, and probably the last as well.

Unfortunately, accidents happen. No, really, it was an accident, not a crafty Lithuanian assassination attempt.

While pagan, Butavas had to deal with Catholic peasant mobs... now it is the opposite, how annoying.

Champions rose, the crowd cheered, and the Lithuanian tradition of excellent light cavalry was proven once again. A valuable distraction indeed.

The Kingdom of Lithuania may have a Catholic ruler for now, but the plans to conquer Pommerania and Cape Arkona were never abandoned. Yet, they needed a claim now that they temporarily joined Christendom.

There will be much intrigue and even conflicts over the same family once Butavas dies, the price to pay for preventing the extinction of Lithuania as an independent kingdom, for the Romuva and Catholic family members will likely fight each other for a long time.

Butavas has always been a kind ruler, and when a certain nuisance bothered him, unlike some of his distant predecessors, he sent him flowers.

When the Spymaster of England agreed to help Lithuania with their long plans of revenge for what England did, the fate of England was defined.

    Shit.

Lithuania continued to advance thanks to a consistent intelligence effort, and in the field of military organization, Lithuania was ahead of most of the world.

Die bitch, die already! This is what happens when outsourcing hitman jobs, even when they are organized by a Lithuanian.

    Hitman 2 Theme

While one of the daughters of Butavas was about to get married with the king of Leon, finally the whore that brought victory to Poland in their "holy war" for Prussia got what she deserved, but that was not enough, not enough at all. England has grown too powerful, somehow inheriting Denmark, something utterly against the best interests of Lithuania. It was then that the legend of the Lithuanian Hitmen would truly rise, for Butavas has decided to decimate the English royal family, to bring enough turmoil for their empire to fall apart so that their planned conquest of Cape Arkona will not be borderline impossible due to their rule over it and their massive size.

The last of the Livonian Order shall not be tolerated, for they were de jure part of the Kingdom of Lithuania, and thus, even after conversion, Butavas still had a justification to crush them.

The successor of the bitch queen had a very short reign, and as long as England was that massive, all reigns over there would be short-lasted indeed, until something very unfavorable could allow for the rest to happen on its own.

No matter how many times it was unsuccessful, a curse without equal, the murderous gaze of vengeful Lithuanian Hitmen for what they did, remains over England, and all their kings shall be short lived!

Butavas planted roses with a great serenity and calmness, and a few hours later plotted the deaths of those who forced him to convert.

Three kings murdered in an incredibly short time, and more would meet the same fate soon. The wrath of the Lithuanian Hitman is truly without equal, and no matter how many massive armies, how many guards, how much security one has, when a Lithuanian is at it, being killed is inevitable.

The great turmoil of three short lasted reigns starts to crack England, but it still is not enough, but perhaps enough for the claims made over Pomeralia to be pressed through war.

With the King of England being only 1-year old, his immediate heir meets his demise as well. Revenge is a dish best served cold, but it still tastes delicious.

He should be directing such cruelty towards the Polish and English scum instead.

No mercy! Now it is time to throw an inbred degenerate Innsmouth look baby out of the window, and let a 60-year old Portuguese assume the throne of England, with all the chaos it should ensue.

The conversion could secure a great future for the Gediminaitis dynasty, even if soon religious differences would forever divide their family. One of Butavas sons secured a Bethrotal with the queen of the Rus, which meant that eventually the Lithuanian dynasty would rule over those lands, provided the queen of Rus doesn't die first, of course.

Requesting The Brazilian Slaughter opinion about this.

Through the turmoil the revenge of the Lithuanian Hitmen, who now became truly legends across all of Europe for their mastery of assassination, for being such assassins of the most powerful kings, for putting an empire on their knees, finally England lost Denmark, and now the time was perfect to begin the invasion of Pommerania. England under a Portuguese old king who only had female heirs, truly what they deserved.

And now it is time to finish this long revenge with its final touch: the gradual conquest of Pommerania.

Butavas had a long and peaceful reign, the relative degree of religious tolerance and the elective monarchy pleasing his Romuva vassals, and he was now determined to leave his successor much close to the goal of forging a Romuva Church.

The last independent Persian Kingdom fought in the name of the thunder god, and conquered the city of Kiev. The Mongol Empire, bloated and rife with peasant revolts failed to become the most successful participant in such great holy war for the reformed Tengri Church. However, considering the vast distances, it is unlikely the Persians will manage to keep what they conquered. Now that Islam was crushed like a skull of pig, hopefully the Tengri hordes will turn their attention towards all of Christendom, except for those pretending to be part of it, hopefully.

While the Lithuanian armies glorious besieged the capital of England, Butavas became sick. His illness became worse and worse. This could be his end.

An alliance with Armenia placed Lithuania in a holy war against Muslims, and naively, the Pope decided to give them some support while the Catholic king growing ever worse in his illness would be succeeded by a heathen once he dies.

Maimed and suffering with a terrible fever, Butavas died with only 37 years of age, and once again, Lithuania has returned to their roots.

It is said that the last words of Butavas were to the priest near his bed. Word on the street is that he told the Catholic priest to shove his crucifix up his ass, although there is no confirmation those were his dying words. Yet, once again Lithuania has returned to the old gods, and also to the troubles of Gavelkind succession because the Elective monarchy that allowed a heathen to succeed ironically depended on Catholic institutions no longer relevant for the Kingdom, but eventually that will no longer be a problem. Regardless, Butavas I became later iconic as THE Lithuanian Hitman, and as the scourge of England. He died certain that what Lithuania went through because of zealotry has been avenged.

    LONG LIVE KARIJOTAS!

    DEATH TO ROMANISM!

    TO BE CONTINUED

Alsio, that was some epic Lithuanian Hit-Maning. Three Kings man, Three Kings!

Also, bro, you need a alliance and a border with the Mongols. I feel that's your best chance.

The Defiance of the last Pagans

    Skyforger - Cekulaina Zile Dzied

    WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

But he molested children! How can you?

Karijotas "The Apostate", as the Romanists called him, reigned over a divided Kingdom, where the shadow of the cross loomed larger and larger every year. Through the power of the Lithuanian Hitmen, extremely faithful to the old gods, Karijotas hoped to revert part of such situation, but there was much work to do. Meanwhile, another closer step to cape Arkona. However, now there was truce, but, if they waited, England could grow too strong for Lithuania to stand a chance of victory again.

Therefore, the truce can go to the abyss! After all England did against Lithuania, they deserve no honor.

Giltine's Chosen are feared by a reason. All Catholic bishops desecrating sacred sites of the Romuva faith were eliminated very quickly, in no small part thanks to the Russian spymaster support, who had little care for the Catholics after what they have done to Constantinople.

    Guess what happens now?

Thousands of lives were saved by the deeds of one Lithuanian that entirely averted a war.

    Meanwhile in Poland

    They never change.

Arrogant, the English thought they could defeat the Lithuanian armies with only a fraction of their forces. Mercenary reinforcements from Russia and Finland proved them wrong.

Karijotas actions in battle have tempered him with patience, a valuable virtue, specially when defending ground.

One of the unfortunate consequences of the less than honest conversion of his father was how the rabble and sheeple over Vilnius lacked the intelligence to realize such conversion was not genuine, and fell to the siren song of the false god. Now, the traitors rose against their own kingdom. They won't be forgiven!

While the war with England for Pommerania was proving more complicated, even more traitors rise to defy the legitimate king and the legitimate gods.

More mercenaries were hired and more men recruited to the siege of Stettin, and the English suffered another terrible and crushing defeat, but they still refused to surrender Stettin. More blood would have to be shed for Lithuania to end one step closer to Cape Arkona, the key to reforming their faith.

Eventually, England had no more choice, suffering defeat after defeat for falling into the trick of not checking the seas for reinforcements. Victory!

Still, some Poles and traitors needed to be taught a lesson in blood.

The war however had a significant cost in lives, and the mercenaries weren't cheap to maintain, and now, while they prepared to return those invaders to their precious Poland, Danish scumbags decided to start a "crusade" of their own as well. It seems that blood and war will be a near constant for the last pagan kingdom of Europe, and the Danes will be tough foes, specially because they brought Norway to their "holy" war as well.

A great battle happened at Stettin, the Danish scum having the advantage of numbers and of having killed one of the Lithuanian commanders. The future of Lithuania demanded victory. There was no other acceptable outcome.

The victory at Stettin was a great victory for Lithuania that not even reinforcements could change. Crush the liberals without mercy!

Karijotas learned much from these trying battles, from the difficult wars he waged ever since the kingdom of Lithuania returned to the real gods, against much of Poland, against England, Norway and Denmark, where ultimately, through superior maneuver over land and sea, Lithuania prevailed so far. Then, after finishing off the Danish forces, a Norwegian army approached their reduced forces, both even numbered, but with the Norwegians having much more heavy infantry.

It was one hell of a fight, but Lithuania once again prevailed, and their armies now marched to finish the Potatoes and the Snowmen off.

Then more scum rise over Vilnius, demanding a king that will kneel to the false prophet known as the Pope. They will soon meet their deserved fate.

With their crusasder armies utterly annihilated, Denmark and Greater Potato were forced to pay heavy indemnities to Lithuania, and these two great victories against too unholy wars gave a very important boost in the moral authority of the Romuva Faith, that will be sufficient with a few more conquests and the capture of Cape Arkona for the long hoped dream of doing the same the much larger Mongol Empire has done and reforming their religion as well.

The peasant scum thought they had a chance. They were given no mercy, sent to see there is no god as they believed at.

Karijotas was not overtly cruel, but he nevertheless ordered for the leader of the massive revolt in Vilnius to be publicly executed as a warning to the rest of the heathens.

The other malcontents were vanquished shortly after, and Lithuania has prevailed against such numerically superior threats.

Karijotas got hurt during the war, for he fought many hard battles, yet, like Lithuania recovered from its darkest times, from a forced conversion even, so did the king.

    No way!

There is however a serious problem. His wife was a bit old but a genius. Now she is too old and he still has no heir. If he dies, another Catholic will inherit. Having too much pressure, Karijota would end making a grave mistake.

His traitorous brother plotted his death, to which he reacted by ordering his arrest.

    And banishing the traitor.

    And then...

    :rage:

Some bribes will be needed to gather enough supporters for a now necessary Hitman job to secure Lithuania won't end in Russian hands. Meanwhile, Karijotas is strongly considering a divorce to marry with someone that will have greater chances of bearing him a heir, any heir.

All along, Denmark was crushed again in revenge, and, being depleted, they simply agreed to give in Wolgast after a while. Victory!

Never before has Lithuania been so close to both the extinction of its traditional religion and its greatest glory. Once the truce with Denmark ends, because the price for breaking truces is too painful to be endured a second time, then the decisive moment, the reformation of the Romuva faith, provided that asshole in matrilineal marriage with a Rurikovich fat bitch doesn't inherit Lithuania first.

Cape Arkona will be Lithuanian, as will all of Pommerania!

Even more, a new dream, still distant, slowly gains form, but that is for another time, and it may never, ever happen. Right now, the reformation of the Romuva faith is the greater goal of the kingdom, a goal that may require much bloodshed yet.
