Also, this mod has a few things that needed to be fixed about it:

1) The building tech progression is borkered, as the unlock tech levels are as they are, but the buildings have been jumbled into a different order for some reason while they were rebalanced. Easily fixed.
2) Religious fervour is still a largely broken mechanic that operates in a far too clandestine manner to be functional. I recommend enabling the old slider-based working for it, or using the old temple_contribution value for it.
3) Province demand costs along with the lowered infamy limit are stupidly high. Now, this wouldn't be a problem, but it makes Holy War and Tribal Conquest even more overpowered CBs, while Conquest CB is utterly worthless because annexation cost is beyond belief.
4) Why the fuck are people still fucking around with Inflation? You only make WORSE ffs.
5) Settlement Policy decision seems to be broken in a very mysterious manner, I can't use it to commit Balt genocide despite filling the qualifications.
6) The Finnish name file is completely inadequate and doesn't work at all for the alternate history. Rewrote the whole thing pretty fast.
7) In general, it would have been better if the modder would have made a new country file for a different Finland for the alt-history, since the Swedish ducal coat of arms for Finland is not very fitting for a pagan empire.

I can post stuff I fixed if anyone cares.

EDIT: And someone please tell me why the Settlement Policy decision is borkered.

EDIT2: Managed to somehow fix Settlement Policy. But now I've found that Dissolution Act removal is also borkered, as it removes despite me being an Emperor.

Always good reading about medieval Finland and Eastern Europe, Vaarna. I don't know shit about the region at those times, I think its the Luso-Brazilian focus on the Modern Age, Renaissence, etc. We don't get to learn much about Potato and beyond.

Also, Navarra woudl't lasted a day.

Damn moors they are already getting dangerously close to become a greatest threat than even the Mamluks against Jerusalem.

Islam regna Europa, Deus regna Jerusalem

Crusader Song

B7BO7.jpg

"Kingdoms without God are like castles of sand." the king briefly commented upon hearing the very good news on how the massive threat of the Timurids collapsed after the death of their heathen Khan Tamerlane. One less threat for Jerusalem is always welcome, considering the number of threats the kingdom faces. And thus, with the threats subdued, it was time to make good use of the gold plundered from the infidels.

By funding extensively missionaries to save many souls and purge Islam and HERESY from the Holy Land.

EpSv7.jpg

The first fruits of their works appear. The Franciscan Order proved itself excellent to spread the Catholic Faith beyond the borders of Christian civilization through their display of unwavering humility and devotion.

DHapq.jpg

Of course, some of the heathens became restless due to the missionary work, and were trying to breach the fortifications to behead the missionary because he insulted Islam. The studies of many theologians may be right after all: Satan personally came to the impious Muhammad disguised as an angel to spread these lies. It is our duty to correct this iniquity. Meanwhile, in a sign a new enemy may soon raise their arms against Jerusalem, the Eastern Roman Empire starts to display hostility towards the Blessed Kingdom.

rlKEZ.jpg

The Crusader kingdom of Tripolitania has been all but wiped out as, empowered by their alliance with Iberia, the infidels of Algiers advance from the west. For now, this is not a threat to Jerusalem, but if this continues, soon they will have a new enemy to contend with. With this growth of Algiers, another unfortunate side effect. The pirates among the savages have grown stronger, but this is of no relevance to the Kingdom of Jerusalem as their entire economy is self-sufficient.

S7sbt.jpg

The Mamluks are at war with the other infidels of Khorasan. Hopefully they will both weaken each other.

2vm0d.jpg

More infidels try to revert the victory of the Holy Kingdom, but they all perish and now march right into Mamluk territory. This will disrupt the Mamluks a little, which serves Jerusalem interests a lot.

7XALG.jpg

The Mamluks never expected so many, and a thousand of them perished. Hopefully the heathens will head deeper into Mamluk lands, although if they don't, then they'll be easily wiped out by the superior forces guarding Iraq.

Vc17e.jpg

The conflict drew Egypt as well as the Mamluks, in their pride, think they can defeat all their enemies at once.

HTQMo.jpg

The heathens of Khorasan prove themselves more than capable of defying the Mamluk ambitions. But Egypt is in a precarious situation. Adalbert II cannot intervene because their truce with the Mamluks is not over yet. But there was another way to help their allies:

3MAdZ.jpg

2RZDy.jpg

Hopefully rebels have risen against the heathens but it is impossible to know for sure, what matters is that Jerusalem did what they could. It is in God's hands now.

rvDBt.jpg

After seizing Basra, the foolish heathens return to Iraq and are completely wiped out. May their fate serve as a lesson to others who'd dare to raise their arms against the only true God.

KvLK2.jpg

The king is a very pious man, he'd never defy the last wills of a man willing to donate his lands to the Church.

vmLRi.jpg

Fighting in multiple battlefields, the Mamluks are forced to sign a white peace with Egypt, and for now, the only major ally of Jerusalem is safe.

tpHLa.jpg

Deep into the lands of the heathens, the Franciscan Order spreads to preach the true faith. Hatred and nationalism however must end first before any conversion not involving killing all Muslims can have chances of success, and although that would be equally acceptable, it would harm the kingdom in the long term.

MGWcV.jpg

During one night, Adalbert II began to scream loudly:

"They march on Ile de France! They march on Ile de France! The Holy Roman Empire is crumbling! The fires, the fires! They are killing everyone and enslaving and... my God!"

And during the morning he was at a visible state of catatonia, and thus a regent with a major administrative talent was appointed.

MMlKO.jpg

The spread of the word of God continues successfully. The Oriental Orthodox however continue to stubbornly refuse conversion.

wx1ad.jpg

The Eastern Roman Empire ambitions are finally revealed! They want to destroy the Catholic Church, depose the Pope and reinstate their throne in Rome and their heretic Patriarchate as well! And while the leaders of Orthodoxy and Catholicism fight each other, more news of wars worry the kingdom of Jerusalem.

UVnk9.jpg

The Moors of Iberia begin to advance against Guyenne, and already conquered some territories. Many began to wonder if the king's nightmare was more than mere madness as Europe's finest hour seems to be at hand. Meanwhile, the king finally back to his normalcy realized, by pretending to still be out of his mind, that his regent took advantage of his temporary position to mount a massive scheme of stealing from the kingdom's treasury then minting more coins to disguise it. Angered, the king made a spectacle out of it: all would see the sixty crooks involved burning in a massive pyre. But this kind of practice was long entrenched, and many opposed the ruthless punishment against it.

gWR0r.jpg

Advances are made in warfare. Jerusalem needs all it can get. With the bulk of their equipment imported from the Byzantine Empire and Eastern Europe, their forces are not as formidable as those of Western Europe, but nevertheless capable, and on the good side, the Eastern European influences many Polish Crusaders left in the kingdom grant to Jerusalem the capability of fielding far more cavalry effectively, if only they could afford it.

nKBaK.jpg

1314507428543.jpg

w0FuT.jpg

moors.jpg

The heathens have conquered near the entirety of Iberia, Guyenne is greatly reduced and their ambitions are far from over. Islam is knocking on Europe's door like child rapist Muhammad knocking the door to an orphanage.

aZGho.jpg

The mass of heathens is a clear sign that for Jerusalem, which meek navy would be crushed by the Iberian navy anyway, a massive army is the only way to secure their future.

wMAZO.jpg

The kingdom did their best. Quarantines were established to contain the plague and much gold was invested to support whichever means they had of ensuring it would spread the least possible while many brave missionaries tended to the ill. Perhaps such a display of care would help later with the conversion.

SKvSB.jpg

In the year of the Lord 1419, Jerusalem has enjoyed decades of peace and prosperity after their greater victory during the beginning of the century, but the same could not be said about the other two crusader kingdoms. Tripolitania was on its dying throes, and once again Egypt is under siege. Except this time it is much, much worse than before. Outnumbered their own forces try to besiege the capital of the Mamluks fast enough, may God help them, because, upon seeing who was supporting the heathens, the king of Jerusalem was not so sure if his involvement would even make a difference.

After completing their siege first, the heathens advanced to Cairo. The battle was bloody, but it was clear Egypt would lose, when suddenly:

W2pal.jpg

The greater threat of Islam has made religious differences less important. The Papal State supported the independence of Egypt and boldly sent a small force to help them. This small force arrived almost too late but they came just in time to turn the tide of the battle in favor of Egypt. This is truly a sign God has not forsaken us no matter the trials ahead as Islam grows over Europe.

KroZj.jpg

But, ultimately, that was of very little relevance. Egypt was doomed as both Algiers and the Satan spawn of Iberia attacked Egypt together. It is in God's hands now. Yet this would end proving itself a far less devastating defeat for Egypt than it would have been otherwise. Thanks to their victory against the Mamluks in Cairo and their routing of most of those heathens, the Mamluks agreed with a white peace instead of potentially seizing most of Egypt as they had cores on all of Egyptian territory, while after the battle of Cairo, they lost "only" Cirenaica.

8oLEB.jpg

A Patriarchate still existed in Iraq despite decades of Islam. Believing fanatically in the ideal of Unam Sanctam, Adalbert II ordered for the dissolution of this institution, hoping that leaderless, the heretics would be more willing to convert. Some HERESY spawned out of this but it was too small to stand any chance against the blessed army of Jerusalem, and like all HERESY, it ended in the same way.

XhiWs.jpg

Yet, the menace of the Durka durka is greater than ever. The infidel now stands next to the Gates of Rome itself! The future of Christian civilization is at stake at this very moment, and Jerusalem is sure now they cannot count only any foreign help, they must survive on their own, counting only on the Knights Hospitaller of Gaza, on Egypt which will hopefully not collapse before the "infamy" of Jerusalem is small enough for them to resume their Crusades and on their newest ally of Cyprus, headed by the former ruling dynasty of Jerusalem before their defeat by Saladin, the Lusignans, because Europe itself is under siege, and so far, Islam is winning.

YPmSU.jpg

eva-green-sibylla3.jpg

As if all this turmoil was not problem enough, in the year of the Lord 1423 Adalbert II von Hohenzollern passed away. His legacy was a Jerusalem triumphant against the Syrian heathens, but still, their victories have been long overshadowed by the victories of the heathens against Christianity in Europe and close by. Why must in these turbulent and dark times, from all possible successors, a wommyn inherit the Kingdom of Jerusalem? Now decline is not a possibility, but a certainty. [/lyric suite]

The future of a Crusader Kingdom lies in the hands of a very young woman. Time will tell the consequences of it. Trouble already happens as the very chauvinistic ambassador of Armenia makes a very offensive comment on how she should renounce and go back to the kitchen.

The king is dead, Long Live the Queen Sybilla II von Hohenzollern!

Gotta say, fun2eu is overall a great mod, I already fixed the inflation bullshitz and the rest of the problems I encountered (namely religious_fervour being a cryptic as fuck mechanic that served little purpose when you got a perfectly good slider doing the same damn job), with the exception of the Conquest CB for annexation purposes.

Currently running a Finnish Empire campaign and shameless rampant imperialism has been going well. The Pacific has been reached and Persia conquered. Though the pesky fact I started with Russian as accepted culture has motivated the two hundred years of conquest so far, since it protects from from RUS GENOCIDE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE for the time being.

PS: All Turk has been removed from world.

Jerusalem and Egypt are more fun. Map-painting without ever treading a thin line between defeat and victory is too boring and predictable.

Blame pocahaunted for more Latin than usual. He actually asked for this.

too latin; didnt read

Just look at the screenshots, they are epic enough of a show of how close to ultimate defeat Jerusalem was during this conflict. The only reason I defeated the Mamluk army was because they failed in an assault against the garrison of Sinai and then I immediately sent the Jerusalem army to crush their exhausted forces. This is more or less how the Battle of Vienna where the worst turk was defeated happened. And it was very fortunate because thanks to it the Mamluks have no more cores in Jerusalem or in the Knights of Gaza.

And by the way I just wanted to do one full Latin update. Enough is enough. From now on only the titles for flavor reasons.

Also I cannot leave the following as a mere link, it's too awesome of a song/video to not embed directly here.

====================

Exterminatis Heretica et Infidelia! Ad Victoria Semper!

kTC95.jpg

kingdomofheaven-jerusalem_siege_1115317724.jpg

The finest and darkest hour of Jerusalem carries on, victory and defeat both close-by, because while in battle the crusaders have been near undefeated, the kingdom have lost much of their fortresses to the infidel and is devastated by this war. Time for a decisive victory is running out, as the battered army of Jerusalem seeks to desperatedly crush the only Roman occupation over Jerusalem, to convince the Romans to agree with another futile victory as the one they had against Cyprus, and this massive Syrian army besieges the very holy city itself, which walls have finally broken. Meanwhile the Armenians didn't waste their time to take advantage of the long conflict to seize some heathen land for themselves.

X1TPI.jpg

Now, after a sadly needed small shame for Jerusalem and empty victory for Rome, the war is only between Syria and Jerusalem, but Syria has a mighty army against which Jerusalem will truly need God's blessing to prevail.

God works in mysterious ways. Who could ever imagine that the very bane of the faithful, HERESY, would end indirectly helping Jerusalem by driving the heathens away from the holy city? No, it didn't happen that way! The infidels were simply frightened from seeing the angels of God coming to defend the holy city and thus gave up their siege, any other explanation is obviously HERESY.

And if someone didn't hear it well enough, considering the mere thought HERESY may have unwillingly helped Jerusalem against the heathens is:

HERESY

And from this blessed gift of the Lord, Jerusalem had an opportunity to deliver a crushing blow against the heathens.

qJqvv.jpg

Unholy heretics besiege Gaza, but in better news Damascus is now the site of another victorious battle for the holy. A battle not merely victorious, but better for Jerusalem as well. The heathens lost more than half of their cavalry, and although many good men died again for the holy cause, the army of Jerusalem is in an excellent shape to crush the entire army of Syria now, and then at last: the conquest of Damascus will be done.

GrCrv.jpg

The mere fact Jerusalem has managed to survive and overcome such apparently impossible odds, now clearly emerging victorious against nations whose armies vastly outnumbered theirs is already a miracle. But to truly show God really blesses this country, men and women whose kindness and devotion are akin to those of the original apostles, realizing the devastation the war the heretics and heathens started brought and determined to do something to help, travelled through the land, tending to the sick, to those who lost their loved ones, and according to witnesses, one of them has done further, making soldiers who were blinded by swords and arrows regain their sight, men who lost the movement of their legs stand up again and more. As these news spread, the people feel they are in the most blessed land of the world, no matter the current hardships of the war, of the desert, of the heretics and of the heathens.

nNHIn.jpg

The infidel capital has fallen, their army is in shambles, but other than Damascus, their remaining lands are mostly poor, and of course filled with heathens. Their complete defeat would be desirable, of course, but let the Armenian take the most worthless pieces of their land for themselves, because Jerusalem has been at war for too long, it is time to conclude the issue that has been central for the kingdom since the beginning of the century, or at least, half of the issue, because Damascus must also have most of their population made of faithful to ensure the holy quest is completed.

2inse.jpg

Syria is left to nothing. At first they launched an opportunistic war against a Jerusalem seemingly doomed to total defeat in face of vastly superior Mamluk and Roman forces, but they forgot one important detail: God is with Jerusalem. Now they are nothing but a bait for the ambitions of others.

kPkO1.jpg

DEUS VULT!

There is however a serious problem growing to worrisome levels. The ravages of war have been a trial of faith for many, but they have also been seen as an opportunity for all types of enemies of God to spread their sweet lies into the more desperate peasants, and their numbers have now outnumbered the entire army of Jerusalem, as Sybilla prays for guidance after both a glorious victory against the heathen and a dark tiding of heresy.

R0frl.jpg

2myb1wk.jpg

As the heretic legions outnumber the holy army, they choose to simply take the holy land back from them through their superiorly executed siege.

There is obviously only one way to handle this. There will be no negotiations and no concessions for such servants of the devil!

MJeFH.jpg

The achievements of the heretical are like a castles of sand. They will be crushed sooner or later because they cannot defy the will of the Lord.

Eventually a messy three-way fight between heathen patriots, heretics and the holy army begins over damascus.

PYGnS.jpg

Casualties mount up quickly, for their legions are vast, but their poor training and lack of God will doom them to their ultimate fate:

SUFFER NOT THE HERETIC TO LIVE

8TAqI.jpg

And somehow, they end surrounded between a wall of heathens and the holy army, having nowhere to retreated and being forced to fight and lose battle after battle. It is the duty of every person in the Kingdom after all, to exterminate the heretic.

TlQvk.jpg

Their doom is coming. Their numbers however show that any moment of laxity can spawn a lifetime of heresy. Perhaps it would be wise to establish an Inquisition to weed this plague before it gets out of control again.

k2uLj.jpg

Yet ultimately, they all end like every heretic should, and Jerusalem is once again triumphant, against both inside and outside foes.

2a7j9.jpg

Dozens of thousands of heretics were purged, their vast numbers a display of the dangers of prolonged wars and their exhaustion warping and straying the flock from the righteous path, although in this case Jerusalem didn't really have a choice. What matters is that for all accounts, heresy is now officialy defeated!

Vnh6g.jpg

1314507428543.jpg

Obviously any research related to Jewry is EXTRA-HERETICAL

(Guess how Narrowminded Jerusalem is. Protip: Number of times skyway played KOTOR minus two)

tZE48.jpg

The experience of past wars of Jerusalem has shown to the kingdom that ultimately, a superiorly trained army is their best bet, for they will never manage to outnumber significantly their foes, and thus it is better to ensure they force is as superior as possible, while the recent adoption of proper Knights will give the base for this transformation from a mass-recruited to a high quality army with stricter standards of physical fitness and discipline in recruitment. From this move Jerusalem gains a valuable advisor.

8r57D.jpg

He is quite decent, and his skills will greatly enhance the victories of the holy kingdom in the coming wars.

evl1l.jpg

The war has brought many problems. To keep the mercenaries on that were once required to ensure their victory, as their other alternative was to be crushed and defeated, Jerusalem had no choice but to mint a lot of gold during all the years of this holy war, and this will now bring long-term consequences for many decades.

lTNob.jpg

396px-Joan_of_arc_miniature_graded.jpg

Other heathens have failed, and for now, Jerusalem is safe, heresy was completely purged and its leftovers are being ruthlessly exterminated, the infidels were defeated, Damascus was conquered, and from the darkness of a devastating wars a bright future now shines ahead. Once a reign questioned by serfs and nobles alike and mocked by neighbors like the ambassador of Armenia with his disrespectful bar on how she should "return to the kitchen", Sibylla now is hailed as the "Savior of Jerusalem" and those who once mocked her now stand silent. Having led the kingdom through by and far its darkest hour, having issued strategic missives that led to the decisive victories against the numerically and technically superior forces of the Mamluks, Romans, Syrians and Heretics, she will die as a heroine for her kingdom, and might even, in this darkest hour of Islam rising over Europe, be canonized in the future, her kingdom an example of resilience against all odds, which now stands ready for whatever may come.

You haven't answered my latin question :(

Anyway, why did you went into war with the Mamluks & Syria in the first place? I thought you were focusing on peace to reduce your infamy? Even if that's not the case, I doubt you want to start a war when the Byzantines are knocking your door

Oh, it certainly wasn't easy at the start (btw, AI Finns get a special modifier that increases the land force limits and manpower by 50% until they hit 20 cities in this scenario), since you're a pagan with three potentially hostile threats on your borders from get-go (Golden Horde, Lithuania and Muscovy). The best asset you start with is actually the fact that you're butt-buddies with Scandinavia, which in turn can be very vital in order to handle the early expansion and neutralization of threats before you can start beating the shit out of Siberian nomads for lebensraum.

By the way, if it was not clear enough, in the latest conflict it wasn't Jerusalem which declared war against any of the enemies they fought. They were the ones who started it.

And one more thing. With this update there are too many in a single page already.

spanish_inquisition.jpg

Nemo Expectat Inquisitio ab Jerusalem!

Appropriate theme

pLnqT.jpg

The queen receives a proposal both unbelievable and interesting, for it seems that the infidels of Khorasan care more about politics than faith, and thus believe Jerusalem is the enemy of their enemy, and a powerful enemy of their enemy, they offered an alliance. Alas, accepting this is within a thin line between righteousness and HERESY! But to refuse something that would greatly help the maintenance of Jerusalem in good hands is far more heretical than the temporal politics necessary to ensure the continued survival of the kingdom. More importantly, the enemies of Khorasan, other than Syria and the Mamluks, are far away and thus not a threat for Jerusalem at all, and the only "Christian" kingdoms that would have ambitions against Khorasan are HERETICAL.

ln6c2.jpg

Under the same thoughts of how ensuring the continued survival of Jerusalem as a Christian kingdom is of paramount importance, because of the small contribution their sworn loyalty could provide, and in respect for the fact that Jerusalem was once their kingdom, and of the Jewish origin of Jesus himself, the Jews will continue to be tolerated in Damascus.

b006v.jpg

Some say it is a curse of God against the heathens, like the plagues inflicted upon Egypt when their proudly Pharaoh, proclaiming himself a living deity, challenged the only true God. Nevertheless, Jerusalem chooses to do whatever can be done to help the sick and dying, hoping such gestures of goodwill will gain more converts to the true faith.

gRneB.jpg

It is in God hands. The Queen washes her own hands from any responsibility of judging elements of the clergy accused of corruption.

LQViD.jpg

But not from the responsibility of purging all forms of HERESY! Their heretical patriarch was deposed, and missionary work will immediately begin to wipe this heretical stain called Eastern Orthodoxy from the holy kingdom.

oZsXN.jpg

The alliance with the Khan is more than convenience. It is an excellent opportunity to fight against both heathen and heretic, although, in face of the limited reserves and of an economy already somewhat harmed by excessive minting, it's chosen to let God sort out the fate of Georgia and the degree of butthurt of Liberal/Glyphwright.

fwubY.jpg

In 1438, the Queen Sibylla suffers from a terrible illness, impairing her capability of ruling the kingdom. Whispered voices among the most zealous(by the already absurdly zealous standards of the kingdom) claim this is divine punishment for the unholy alliance with Khorasan, but they, like all venom, wither away and end forgotten, as, silencing them comes a decision of appointing the landed Archbishop of Ibelin to help her, a man who proposes to the ill queen a set of decisions that will finally completely steer Jerusalem towards the path of righteousness, for the stain of heresy, of the traitors who formed a legion of dozen of thousand heretics against the kingdom was far from forgotten.

OoWL6.jpg

Fulk della Rovere is hired as an advisor to support the implementation of this decision. The heretic, the heathen and the other servants of Satan have tainted the kingdom and betrayed it from within long enough. They are now going to get Fulked.

rg9Fb.jpg

A State-funded Inquisition directly controlled by the Kingdom of Jerusalem, to purge the kingdom of heresy. Nobody expected that.

Random passerby: "I did."

Inquisitor: HERESY! *BLAM*

bOXp9.jpg

The pathetic Georgian Navy is completely crushed. White peace sounds a reasonable decision but they pose no threat to Jerusalem.

X2Qt3.jpg

In 1441, Jerusalem signed a peace treaty with Georgia, where they highlighted how the demise of their once much mightier kingdom is a divine punishment for their heresy.

F1miS.jpg

However, as a side-effect of this growing zealousness in the kingdom, rumors began to surface on how Sibylla's first son was a sodomite and fornicator who already deflowered several women in his escapades. She refused to acknowledge these rumors and claims.

EXU0U.jpg

The inquisition on its own however was not sufficient. More laws were required to further crush the heretic and facilitate conversions.

Iv9TD.jpg

Like her father, Sibylla, now a middle-aged woman, had a burst of insanity as one night she began to cry, and despair:

"GOD FORGIVE ME! GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE? Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust!" she repeated over and over while crying, obviously mad. Thus, generals stepped in temporarily to support the ruling of the kingdom.

Two years later, the madness fortunately gone, once again blood will be shed over the holy land. The infidels in their ambition seek to crush Egypt completely, except this time, fortunately, the Mamluks ended diplomatically isolated as Iberia and the other damn moors probably have its own ambitions on the region, and thus an opportunity like no other shows up.

Rather than answering the call, Jerusalem chooses to start a war against the heathens on their own terms, with their own goals rather than merely defending their allies. The goal of spreading the only true faith and crushing heathens and heretics alike.

The accusations of the alliance with Khorasan being HERESY! ended when it became clear this temporal alliance could serve the cause of God. Now everything is set for another major conflict, one that will define the future of the entire Levant and could end with either far more territorial gains for Jerusalem than Damascus... or terrible losses.
