My computer has been exclusively used by my brother for his Mafia/GTA4 playing. Not playing anything.

But I think I will quit after Chapter 1. If I have to finish this game, it will have to be without the burden of a LP at the same time. But I really want to get this till the end of Chapter 1.

Do you mind if I continue it afterwards, then? I think this was a good idea, and the game deserves some publicity...

Oh my god does this bring back memories. Never played THIS game (but now I want to!) but man, did I play a shit-ton of Sierra titles... nothing like failing Police Quest I because you didn't do the full five-point walkaround of your car before you got in it (but leaving the locker room while only in a towel, okay, THAT was an obvious mistake).

Plz to post more pics.

Update.

I start the game all over. This time, after investigating Goltsin's office, I go to meet my uncle, and retrieve American currency from my own room.

It helps, because I use it to become a member, and I get entrance to the Enthusiastic Progress Club.

A man with a punk hairstyle is getting fidgety and nervous around here. I keep an eye on him. But first, I go to the toilet.

kgb4hk9.jpg

Hmm, Someone has dumped money there. If I take it, the young man gets inside later on, doesn't find his money, and then suspecting me, gets others to beat me up. So I leave it.

Instead, I go through the whole set of activites I had done on my previous playthrough again, and then I re-enter to find two other thugs inside.

kgb6ci3.jpg

I go with them.

kgb7vd9.jpg

I don't buy it.

kgb8oq0.jpg

Hmmm, lockpick. Useful.

I come back to the bar. The guy with the punk hairstyle is gone. I re-enter the toilet.

Yeah, making progress now. I think I am nearing the end of the chapter. Still quite difficult to get through with the meatshop guy.

Hey, a curious question for you guys.

To your knowledge, has there been a harder adventure game than this?

Oh yes, you should absolutely continue this LP you want to, Tintin.

I think you would do a bang up job.

Just tell me whenever you want to quit and I'll take over.

To your knowledge, has there been a harder adventure game than this?

If there is, I haven't played it.

Maybe you could take over from here itself. I have been quite stumped for a while, and I don't have nearly enough time to play it.

Besides, you have played the game before and you are familiar with it, so maybe you will know how to make it quite entertaining.

I don't know about the "entertaining" part :) I'm not good at being witty, but the game itself seems to be carrying interest pretty well on it's own.

Anyways, sure. I'll probably start from the beginning of Kursk street mission again when I post.

Personally, I feel lulzy LPs work better with some games than others (usually ones everyone has played, like fallout or half life). In this case, I feel the game is interesting enough on its own because of the inherent humor and difficulty (sort of like The Very Big Slayer's Wizardry 4 LP) that I won't be reading this one for the lulz from the poster.

I don't usually play games like this because I suck ass at them, but I like seeing others play them, especially when they talk about why they chose to try one thing instead of another and are very clear in general about what steps they are taking.

Anyways, :salute: if you do a good job. ;)

Okay, here's a starter post, then.

I'm starting from the beginning of Kursk Street again, right after solving the first mission with Golitsin. First I have to go get the money from my house.

I'm going to try and show a fair bit of the dialogue and interactions and take it slow.

kgbprg_004.png

I arrive home to find my loving uncle welcoming me home.

kgbprg_189.png

Well, maybe not. He's being helped by his mute nurse. I ask him how he's doing.

kgbprg_007.png

He has a point, I guess. I ask him about my parents death.

kgbprg_005.png

He continues on to say that my father started the car and then everything went blank. Mysterious. Anyways, I go into my room, get my cash and head towards Kursk street.

I go into the bar. I overhear a conversation between the gents in the back.

kgbprg_011.png

Romeo? That was the codename that was heard on the tape. Obviously this guy is involved in my case. I hit up a conversation with him. So what's a guy like you doing in these parts?

kgbprg_013.png

It wouldn't be discreet to disclose myself, so I try and tiptoe around and say I'm waiting for someone. He doesn't take the bait.

So instead I talk to the young gentlemen in the foreground.

kgbprg_026-1.png

...okay then. Let's leave the bar.

kgbprg_027.png

I enter the side door right next to the bar.

kgbprg_033.png

It's a storage room. I pick up a clip board.

I leave the area and look around until I find apartment doors.

kgbprg_035.png

Looks like a good place to begin my investigation. I knock on the very first door to the left.

kgbprg_037.png

This appears to satisfy him, and he lets me enter his home.

kgbprg_041.png

I ask him about himself.

kgbprg_045.png

Er...I ask him for a drink.

kgbprg_047.png

........ I ask him if he's seen a psychiatrist.

kgbprg_049.png

Something tells me that I won't learn much with this guy, so I take my leave. He tells me he will pray for me. Thanks, I guess.

I knock on the next door.

kgbprg_051.png

I ask her if she knows anyone called "Hollywood".

kgbprg_054.png

Well, I have my first lead.

TO BE CONTINUED....

Continuing onwards (trying to get as far as possible before Christmas Break finishes)

So last I checked, we had our first lead, so let's check it out:

kgbprg_055.png

I have a clipboard, and apparently that's enough to convince her. Once I'm in her apartment, I ask some lame questions and then just give up the pretense.

kgbprg_059.png

kgbprg_072.png

kgbprg_073.png

Good stuff. I leave them and go and knock on Belussov's door.

kgbprg_081.png

kgbprg_085.png

This gets him frightened enough, and he goes on a small rant.

kgbprg_086.png

It's seems everyone in this building is either A) insane B) a prostitute or C) a former criminal. I go question Ryumin.

kgbprg_092.png

Like the other one, he gets frightened, but lets me into his home quickly.

Like Belussov, order him to tell me whatever he knows.

kgbprg_099.png

kgbprg_100.png

kgbprg_102.png

Take a look at his shop. Seems as good a lead to follow as any other at this point. I go outside and go around to where the meatshop is. When I leave the apartment, I notice these guys:

kgbprg_104.png

Well, anyways, to the meatshop...

kgbprg_137.png

But it's locked and there's no one else in it. I go back to the apartment. Still haven't tried some apartments, so I try the one upstairs near the right.

kgbprg_110.png

kgbprg_112.png

I cough up $30 and that's enough to get me in.

I'm now a member of the Enthusiastic Progress Club. He gives me a free drink.

I strike up a conversation with the couple seated near the bar.

kgbprg_127.png

kgbprg_128.png

kgbprg_129.png

I'll wager that they aren't vital to the plot.

The punk seated near the front goes into the bathroom and comes out with a smirk. So I follow and enter the bathroom.

kgbprg_117.png

How convenient. Anyways, after doing my business I find something in the wastebin.

kgbprg_118.png

Now I wonder what that could possibly be?

kgbprg_124.png

Well, the game is right. I am a law enforcement official. How could I possible leave drugs where anyone can find them? Plus, when the game gives you a hint, take it.

I take it and flush it down the toilet and leave the bathroom a better man.

I can't believe you didn't interrogate the prostitutes about their stance on casual sex. Be great if you chose that option and the game played a humorous porno clip, but then showed it was just your imagination, and then the two whores say yes, for the right price, you say how about for free since im KGB bitch, and they hit you with a black jack and you wake up naked in an alley with your anus about 3 times larger than it used to be.

C&C!

I was distracted by the bustling traffic of this thread

Anyways, on we go:

Flushed the cocaine down the toilet then back to the club.

I can either talk with the twins on the left or the two guys I recognize from the stairwell. I talk to the guys on the right:

kgbprg_130.png

kgbprg_133.png

Well that doesn't sound suspicious at all. But, I agree. Outside:

kgbprg_134.png

Right.....I have a few options here. Fight, run, etc.

In the stairwell I overheard them talking, and the little guy said, "They always go for the little guy". Taking the hint, I choose to attack the big guy.

My KGB training comes in handy and the small guy runs away in fear.

kgbprg_135.png

I search him and find a lockpick. I stash the body in a nearby trash can.

Now, what can I do with this lockpick? Well I can gain entry into that meatshop that was closed earlier.

kgbprg_138.png

Well, that's bad. But I notice that there's a side door.

kgbprg_139.png

Success! I go into the meatshop.

kgbprg_141.png

It's too dark to see anything. I light a match, not wanting to turn on the lights (I'm sneaking around, after all).

Now, I don't remember this game perfectly from when I played it, but one thing I do remember vividly is that there is an alarm under the desk. If you don't shut off the alarm before touching anything, then the suspects are warned and you're screwed over for finishing the game. But the game NEVER TELLS YOU that you've done something wrong, so you just wonder wtf you're supposed to do.

Anyways, I turn the alarm off.

kgbprg_143.png

Continue to look around. There's a door on the left. I go through.

kgbprg_144.png

kgbprg_145.png

Ryumin was telling the truth, it seems. The butcher is clearly a psycho. I leave (and turn the alarm back on), then go over to the apartment once more to question the butcher.

I ask him about his shop:

kgbprg_152.png

He tried to deny that he's a nutcase, but I tell him that I know all the details about the alarm so he knows I'm not lying. He starts sweating and lets me into his apartment.

I tell him to explain himsel:

kgbprg_158.png

kgbprg_159.png

kgbprg_160.png

So basically, some gangsters in the neighborhood (possibly related to the ones we're looking for?) kidnapped his daughter, took some unpleasant photos of her with men in masks, and threatened to do worse if he didn't do what they said, which was allow them to use his meatshop as storage.

kgbprg_168.png

kgbprg_173.png

Now that is the kind of lead that we need. He kicks me out of his apartment, but in the hallway...

kgbprg_177.png

So, I take out my lockpick and I make my way inside her apartment...

Apparently. Actually, apart from kingcomrade, me, you, and Wyrmlord are the only people who have posted on this entire page.

And where are all the dudes who posted on the first few pages

Oh man, this game is fucked up.

This the most amazing turn of events.

And now I know what to do with that lockpick.

You're not the only one.

I remember playing this game and really needing a walk through. That was in the time that you had modems and BBS's. This game was really hard.
