Chapter 7: I Do Some O' Dem Dae-dric Ruins!
Chapter 7: I Do Some O' Dem Dae-dric Ruins!
Alright, let's just speak to Boromir and get this over with.
Have you been smoking Aragorn's pipe again?
Yeah, man! It's some good shit!
Anyway, the second item is the counterpart to the first: the blood of a Divine. This was a terrible puzzle to me.
Unlike the Daedric Lords, the gods have no artifacts and do not physically manifest themselves in our world.
How then to obtain the blood of a god? But Jauffre solved it. The blood of Tiber Septim himself, who became one of the Divines.
This is a secret remembered only by the Blades, passed down from one Grandmaster to the next. Jauffre should tell it to you himself.
The Armor is in the Shrine of Tiber Septim, in the catacombs beneaththe ruins of Sancre Tor. A holy place, once.
But Sancre Tor became evil long ago. No one has returned from the Shrine of Tiber Septim for many lifetimes.
As usual, I will pick the second option.
Most likely.
YEEEEEE!!!!!
The four mightiest Blades of Tiber Septim's day, Alain, Valdemar, Rielus, and Casnar, went to Sancre Tor and never returned.
Here, this is the key to Sancre Tor's outer door. I fear I am sending you to your death, but we have no other choice. You must succeed.
Aw, I hate dese ruins and graves an' shit!
It's the only way! Now, get your black ass to Sancre Tor and don't swipe anything besides the armor!
This is Sancre Tor at night. Spooky!
Here is the entrance. It is a fairly standard Oblivion dungeon. Look at some screenshots if you want to see more.
Eventually, we get to some blueish skeleton guy and, after beating his ass a bit, he becomes this ghost guy.
Apparently, this ghost guy was one of the Blades mentioned above. He and his comrades were cursed by Zurin Arctus, the Underking, and made to stand guard for eternity. Now, I stopped caring about Elder Scrolls lore after Oblivion, so I don't know much about this Underking. Can anyone fill in the details?
Screw who he be! Smash his ass!
Calm down, Snails! Apparently, he left long ago, so now all we have to do is beat up three more Blades, and then we can get the armor and get out of here.
Tccch! Fine!
Here are some screenshots of the skeletons. They all go down pretty easily.
After getting them all, I head back to the throne room.
The four Blades then deactivate the forcefield around the Mausoleum of Tiber Septim ....
... thereby allowing me to swipe the armor!
I then return to Martin.
You can reassure Jauffre that I will not destroy the armor. All I need is a scraping of Talos's divine blood.
It's not like Oblivion actually gives you this option, of course!
The Blades are as touchy as priests about relics of Tiber Septim, it seems!
They are also pretty touchy with the ladies too!
....
What?
...
Oh fine! What else do I need to do?
The third item we need is a Great Welkynd Stone.
A whatzit now?
You may have run across lesser Welkynd Stones; they are fairly common in Ayleid ruins.
Nope.
Well, anyway, a Great Welkynd Stone will not be easy to come by.
It figures!
There is only one place that is rumored to still contain one: the ruins of the Ayleid city of Miscarand.
It is said that the ruins are still haunted by the vengeful spirit of its last king. True or not, it is not a place to enter lightly. Be careful.
You might find 'Glories and Laments Amon the Ayleid Ruins' useful. I have the library's copy at my table if you need it.
Here it is!
I then travel to Miscarand.
Miscarand is a three-level dungeon. The first two mostly involve a fight between goblins and zombies. The third seems to be just zombies.
If you want a little money, make sure to grab the Lesser Welkynd Stones littered around the dungeon.
Here are some of the goblins now!
Whoopie! </sarcasm>
After all that running Snails has done, he has become an apprentice in Athletics. Apparently, everytime a skill hits 25, 50, 75 or 100, the player gets a silly little ability in addition to better usage.
Miscarand has several of these stupid little gates that only open once I have found the switch.
This is what the chests in Ayleid ruins look like.
Now, here is a quick guide to the stupid switches on the second level.
This switch ...
... located here ....
will open the cage to this Varla Stone. I can't remember what it does, though.
Now then, ...
this button ...
located here will open the way to the third level.
The third level is pretty straightforward.
I just grab the Great Welkynd Stone and ....
face the Lich King ...
and his badass zombie minions. Pretty simple, really!
Here is a better photo of the undead king. I make sure to grab the key from his corpse and get out of here!
Nice! It looks to be a straight-shot to the exit ...
Aw hell! I be trapped!
Apparently, this is a secret door.
Anyway, I blow dis joint to go play some other games for a bit. See ya' later!
