The Skill Crack is a function that analyzes an enemy's ability and saves it to your COMP.

[NOTES]

- The enemy selected by the crack must be defeated by the team with the COMP that set it. The crack will be nullified if any other team defeats that enemy.

- Only a single enemy is targeted by the crack, not the entire enemy team.

- The target of the crack and the COMP user who is targeting it can be viewed on the top screen.

We got some new skills, but nothing really fancy. I gave Neku ice skill and Yuzu fire one, because I think they fit them better. We'll be switching their skills around a lot anyway.

We don't really have many skills to crack in this battle because of those free battles we've previously fought in. We can, though, crack an Ice dance (command skill, I quote SMT wiki now because I don't really remember how it works - Inflicts moderate Ice damage on random targets. Hits 2-5 times total, max 3 times on one enemy.) or Anti-Ice (passive skill, grants resistance to ice damage). Thing is, Wendigo has them both so we have to choose between them. I think we'll get Ice dance later on anyway and AFAIR elemental resistances are harder to get so I chose Anti-Ice.

Let's do this!

Devil Survivor OST – Pinch Battle

There's one group of enemies in the east...

...and the second one, on the northern side of the map.

We don't have the time to fuck around so we attack Wendigo straight-up.

...I don't really want to miss out on macca and exp tho so let's defeat his minions first.

Wendigo hits like a truck and is very difficult to hurt. Fire – his weakness – hits him for, like, 25 hp or so. Yeah, I gave Neku fire for this battle because Yuzu's minions use ice and she wouldn't be that useful against Wendigo anyway. Or so I thought. Whatever. I'm not much of a strategist

Healing skills are always useful.

It'd be too risky to let Atsubro fight the eastern group alone, so I decided to keep our teams close to each other.

Even Ogre can't really hurt him, but we're chipping away at him ever so slowly.

He manages to hurt and freeze Kabuso tho.

Moh Shuvuu's team's close enough to attack us, so we try to eliminate her before she takes us by surprise.

They won't be a threat any more. Unless you consider a single Moh Shvuu as a threat.

Like I said, they're pretty damn tough.

In the meantime, Wendigo almost managed to run away, but Neku used his Devil Speed in the last possible moment and caught up to him.

Ugh, we don't have 6 Vit. Vitality is pretty useless for non-fighters and people who don't give a damn about survivability (me). Resistances can be very useful though so I guess I'll have to spare 2 points later on.

The Cathedral of Shadows is an organization that has existed for many years for the purpose of fusing demons together in order to create new demons. This program allows you to remotely access the Cathedral of Shadows network and fuse the demons currently registered to your COMP. Use this to create more powerful demons.

- Two demons are fused to create a new demon.
- Pre-fusion skills can be carried over.
- Defined rules determine which skills are carried over through fusion.
- Powerful demons not available through the Demon Auction can be created with fusion.

: We have an access to one of the mainstays of SMT series – demon fusion! It's all nicely explained, so I won't bother with repeating that. You should know, however, that we can choose which skills will be carried over, so it'll be much faster and easier than in most SMT games. We're limited to 3 command skills and 3 passive skills though, so we'll be forced to make some tough choices.

We can give him up to 3 skills (two command and one passive). We don't have any physical skills tho so it's kinda useless. It's not like he'll be able to cast many spells with 13 MP

He belongs to Genma species which allows his team to move through obstacles and halves the cost of movement!

Bilwis is just a fusion fodder. I bought these two a bit earlier.

This is a standard battle with one twist – that orange square spawns enemies every few turns (the number varies between missions, I think) so it's important to either defeat all enemies ASAP or just step on those squares and destroy them.

I've never actually used this passive skill before. I think I'll give it to Atsubro to test it out.

There's a new demon available, but we already know him.

Eh, he's pretty average, but his Elec Dance (Inflicts moderate Electric damage on random targets. Hits 2-5 times total, max 3 times on one enemy. - copied from SMT wiki once again) will be invaluable!

Counter allows us to counterattack when someone strikes us with a physical attack. The chance is pretty low though.

Sacrifice regenerates some MP and life whenever we kill someone. It's not really useful right now, because it's, like, 2 MP per kill or something like that. So, yeah, he's not that great.

I also bought two pixies and made Aeros.

Elemental demons (Erthys, Aeros, Aquans and Flaemis) are exceptionally useful because they allow us to “promote” our demons without any need to dick around with fusing. For example, Fairy Pixie becomes Fairy Kijimunaa etc. We have to watch out though, because only specific elementals can improve certain races. Fusing Aeros with Jaki race will...

...make it weaker. We can make them by fusing two demons that belong to same race. We have to pay 1000 macca each time, so it's far from cheap. Still, I'll try to get 'em all.

I wanted to try out today's free battles and totally forgot about our pre-fight stats. I snapped them anyway, but please, forgive me that our pre-battle team doesn't feature Gagyson. :<

I gave that free auto-skill to Atsubro. It's called Tailwind. It's really useful for Atsuro because it increases his team's agility at the start of every battle dramatically which allows him to deal critical strikes much more often! I think it makes Anger Hit more accurate too, but I'm not quite sure about that.

Our first battle (the normal one) was really easy, we squashed them without any trouble. We cracked one skill, but it's far from useful.

Yeah. We're humans so we'll be able to deal more damage against, well, humans.

We have A LOT of macca now, so I bought lots of demons and fused two Sarasvatis.

Megami race is awesome, because their Affection fully restores targeted team's health and removes all ailments. It's totally superior to Charm and Devotion, but is balanced by being really expensive. It costs, like, 30 MP, so Sarasvati can cast it two times and – boom, she's almost out of mana. Still, Affection's a wonderful skill to have.

I think they'll be happy together :3

I gave Neku that useless skill because we have barely any passives anyway.

Atsubro's Anger Hit seems much more accurate now, but I'm not sure why. I hope Tailwind's just that good!

Yuzu's really useful, but her offensive abilities are kind of lacking, so I gave her Elec Dance. She can't cast Amrita anymore, but Moh Shuvuu can use it so it's not a problem (for now).

To get those Sarasvatis, I had to buy and fuse lots of demons so we went from 2000 macca to, like, 100 :<

Aaaanyway, now that we're done with skill grinding and fusing let's check out what's going on in Tokyo.

Holy shit, that's a lot of events. You can't see it, but there are TWO MORE EVENTS available. Two of them also unlock MORE events just a bit later on, so, ugh, it's a headache (it's cool though we have so many choices – some of them with actual consequences - and can't access all content in one playthrough. I wish AAA games were like DeSu :<). I'll ask you guys which one should we choose because I'm really stumped. I tried out many options and it seems like even the order of seeing them matters. I wanted to end this update now, but it'd be way too short (and the next one probably too long ), so let's check out one of the mandatory events.

Like I said, we have A LOT of events incoming (and yes, I'll ask you to vote next time too!). I took the time to check them out and we won't be able to see them all. Thus, your choices are:

- Omotesando/Haru and Gin route (1 event now, second one later on), where we will encounter a very shady man who wants to meet Haru. We won't actually encounter Haru and Gin, but it's very much connected to them.

- Kaido (gang leader) and Gin scheming together/Kaido route. (2 events now)

- Atsuro, who... well, he's our bro. (1 event, it will be available later on).

We CAN, let's say, talk to Atsuro and THEN to Kaido (because we have to see Gin and him talking together so we can't just skip it), but if we do Kaido&Gin event first we'll be able to talk with Kaido which won't happen otherwise. We'll be forced to skip this event if we don't, so if you vote for Kaido you vote for the whole package. If we talk to Atsuro, we'll be able to access Omotesando route later on, but we won't be able to complete it.

I'm not actually sure whether I'm right or wrong about Omotesando route because I didn't play past the mandatory battle at 12:00 and I don't remember it from my previous playthroughs.

Battles against human enemies are quite profitable, because they usually have auto skills which we can crack. We'll try and get Marksman (enemies become easier to hit with physical skills) and Hustle (increases team's evasion and accuracy by 25%).

Let's go medieval on their asses!

I didn't manage to snap this screenshot properly, but demons with Evil Wave race skill can attack from a distance without facing any retaliation. Evil Wave reduces team's speed though, so they aren't as effective as usual in a direct battle.

They aren't that strong, fortunately.
