So, balance is bad?What's missing is the "lol i win" spells from Daggerfall - Banish daedra/Dispel undead/Disintegrate.Anyway, casting quick isn't nearly as hard as casting smart - in before 'baaw mages r underpowered'.
Besides, 1s drain health effectively makes instant death spell for anything below given HP threshold. (Up to 200HP for single casting if you bundle it with weakness to magic, up to 100 otherwise).
It won't even dent truly powerful enemies, but it can nuke whole groups of weaker ones.
I'd like banish/disintegrate spells to be in, of course, but they would have to have numerous drawbacks.

Balmora is north of Seyda Neen. The road passes Pelagiad village and fort Pelagiad, crosses a deep ravine, passes Fort Moonmoth, then turns west across the Odai River and into Balmora. The South Wall cornerclub is in southeast Balmora, on the east side of the river. For more detailed directions, talk to Elone the Scout at Arrille's Tradehouse here in Syda Neen. But take my advice. You're new here. Take the silt strider to Balmora. Fast, cheap, safe. Cross the bridge and head east. Can't miss it.

That will give you a nice view of all Seyda Neen. If you keep an eye on where he goes, I'm sure you'll be able to figure out where he's hiding that gold.

Man, I can't even remember the whole tax collector saga.
Yeah I somehow missed the tax collection quest every time I played.
Reminds me of what I like about Morrowind. No real cackling villains just believable, logical factions and people trying to do what they think is best. It's not a grimdark "who can out dick move the other" type thing either. Hard to explain but part of why this game is so atmospheric.

Incantations do look better in daedric glyphs, though.
Pro-tip:
Ancestral ghost is surprisingly useful. It's very weak, but incorporeal, so it can't be hit with mundane weaponry - in other words anything your typical ruffians can get their hands on.

Yup, it's saved me a few times in a pinch while low level fighting brigands.

It's also an endless magicka source if you have magic resistance and absorption.

Meh. If you want to go this route, you'll be better off using more energetic summons using the kind of spells your character has high natural or gear based resistance to.
Of course, Altmer are at severe disadvantage here.
