Part 1
Game starts with cutscene in a harbour
Bro is walking around
Then shadow appears out of nowhere and bro gets killed
Enter protagonist (who appears to be living in convent)
Finally game starts, protagonist is apparently called Bernard.
According to Menlaus, these are the piers where Ivan was murdered. I have to take a look around and search for any clues that would confirm it.
I hope Menlaus is wrong and I won't have to search for his corpse.
There is some rpg shit here, with stats and spells.
Runes are needed to cast spells.
And we have quests
In the opening area there is a chest but Bernard cannot open or smash it.
Locked.
No way. I don't think I can open it without a key.
First thing to do is explore for a key it seems.
Around the area there's some consumables to find. Pharmaceutical substances are used in this game for healing and buffing instead of potions.
We can also pick up a lightbulb... maybe this'll have uses later?
As Bernard finds the stairs to leave the starting area, he is attacked by something. There is turn-based combat here, with a timer to determine who attacks first.
Better not to waste a spell on this starting enemy I guess.
Bernard attacks with his fists
It seems attack skills go up by using them in combat, which leads to new and more powerful attack skills at some point (and raising spell skill by casting spells in combat leads to learning new spells).
After enemy is dead Bernard loots a knife from its body, and it is used to give it permanent death to vampire. The knife is also equipped as a light weapon.
A new quest also appears
Bernard can now descend in peace
Down the stairs is an accessible area where Bernard picks up some junk
Bernard acquires crowbar
Also, a lightly erotic magazine
