The City written by James Herbert and illustrated by Ian Miller of Games Workshop fame. Pretty minimal story, but I really like the surreal illustration. There are three novels by James Herbert also in the same setting, but with unrelated stories. This is pretty short, 60 or so pages it will fit on the first page.
