Based on the legendary Frank Herbert novel of the same name and visually inspired by the 1984 David Lynch movie, Dune is a strategy-adventure hybrid where the player takes the role of young Paul Atreides, the son of Duke Leto. The Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV has given the Atreides House the rights to manage the extraction of the most precious substance in the entire universe - the Melange, commonly known as Spice in the desolate desert planet Arrakis (Dune), the only place in the universe capable of producing the substance. While everything indicates the offer is a trap orchestrated by their enemies the Harkonnen, the Atreides family agrees on moving, as he who controls the spice, controls the universe.

It's probably the only game that combines adventure with RTS

Yes I know that father , but what do you want ?
father.jpg
My son, we must mine the spice as soon as possible or the Emperor will recall us from Dune
paulon.jpg
Ok father , where do I have to go first?
father.jpg
We've spotted three troops of fremen around the palace and I've sent Gurney Halleck to meet them. He's not returned yet.Go there and see what's keeping Gurney.

Did you notice that all the Fremen we meet have blue eyes, totally blue, no whites in them. It's linked to the saturation of the blood with spice
gurney.jpg

The fremen seem to be organized in tribes or troops

OH HECK YES!

I loved this game back in the day. But everyone seems to think of westwood studios sequel whenever someone mentions the Dune computer game.

This'll be a nice stroll down memory lane

Nah, music was the best on Amiga version, even if it was only 3 tracks. Same with Dune 2 which on Amiga had basically one looped sample, had more atmosphere then those whole silly music in DOS version.

btw. drop colouring for the lines, normal one is just fine and more readable then green one.

I love this game especially the "sci-fi" hair styles. If you don't know, there is the possibility of going to attacks in person (ride a sandworm there). Your troops will gain morale that you're there.

Are you going to try to find as much sietches as you can? I suspect that there ones i never found on the south and i tried a lot. There are many more than those you encounter normally.

I uncovered the entire planet when I played, its a good game but a lot on the easy side after you grasp the basics (and nukes!) with the only annoyance being the Emperor "The Spice Must Flow" demands.

Man, I played this game to death on the Amiga back in the day and later spend an ungodly amount of time on the expanded cdrom version of it. Easily the best Dune game out there.

This is either a great troll thread or the greatest insult ever. Either way, it's proof that the Codex is a bunch of idiots.

This is shit. Fuck you all.

I believe our majestic horse is referring to rule #3 of LPs: a series of screenshots does not a good LP make.
