We're Back on the saddle ! Will we be able to save the Queen ? You can learn the answer only if you read this chapter. That's right.

As we enter the monsters' den we're greeted by diabolical winged creatures. We could avoid them, but we decide they should feel our boots on their face.

Frog carries himself around nicely, the diablos aren't much trouble.

Let's meet our new pal :

FROG :

Frog doesn't say much about his past when he's asked. In fact he says nothing because he's never asked, due to the fact that our protagonist is mute. Rumor has it that he was a former soldier of Guardia turned into a frog by some kind of curse, but many still think that he could be one of Magus's spies. These people usually refer to him as "that frog bastard".

Nevertheless, he seems loyal to the Kingdom and Queen Leene trusts him undoubtedly. He wields a sword with finesse and uses his huge tongue to capture enemies and heal allies. A feature that makes him a valuable --albeit somewhat disgusting-- party member. When he does cool stuff you hear this awesome theme.

Next, we enter a room in the first floor to find some goodies...

But then we find something even more interesting.

You're probably curious what this BROmide thing is... I sure was. Well, apparently, in this case it's a naked photo of a Naga-ette (Don't ask me, it's some strange jap thing - reference). I'm sure there have also been some tentacle porn references that we've missed.

As we're exploring the place, we come upon a room with a suspicious shining skull on the wall. We decide to push it...

Heh, there must have been a series of protective spikes which we we have lowered. Time to bust some hench heads...

...and get some treasure. Frog will make good use of the iron sword.

We also find an organ here. It's the equivalent of a door switch in this monster den.

And guess what, a door appeared and the note has changed...

Our hearts are decided ! Monsters try to block our path but they fail :

If you're hankering for a replay of this, consider trying out the fan remake instead. http://metronomeproject.blogspot.com/ It's pretty rough in some spots, and you'll want to spam savestates in case it freezes up on you, but the core gameplay is the same. Good if you're dying for a little more of the same without having to replay the exact same plot.

Interesting, although the blog is pretty crappy with almost no actual info. It's a romhack I assume ?

Pretty much. New plot is pretty long (Probably comparable to the original), not nearly as much optional sidequest type stuff, and the difficulty balance is pretty off. Often in the very same dungeon I'd be running from one set of enemies because they weren't worth the trouble of fighting, while wiping out other groups in a single turn before they attack. You also get some of the more powerful equipment really early. There's also some pretty stupid 'But thou must!' moments. I'm guessing they're planning on adding some actual choices in later and just put in fake ones as placeholders for now. They've supposedly put in a bunch of alternate endings like the original too, but I can't be bothered to check them out cause I fucked up my save file using savestates in a spot I shouldn't have. (There's a sort of debug room so you can start your newgame + stuff at any point in the story you want, which is really cool. But I fucked my items by saving in there I think.)
