I will be playing on hard, won't use any praxis points, and will do my best not to kill anyone,
although there's one timed ambush where I imagine it will be impossible to go non-lethal and
save friend helicopter, but we'll see.

Settings: object highlighting on, fov = 100 deg

Although this is the augmented edition, I'll be throwing all the special preorder/CE crap away.

Suggestions?

No augs? This should be interesting. Especially the boss fights if with the basic inventory and no combat augs.

This reminds me, I need to resume my Dragon Age 2: Konjad's Favorite Edition LP soon after I'm done with Arcanum.

I can't wait to buy HR once I've upgraded my PC. But why so hardcore and deprive the readers of the full feature of this awesome sequel, man? It's like playing a Soldier in Mass Effect LP, y'know. Kinda stinks.

Summary: We see the international jewish conspiracy debating on how to handle Sarif's announcement
on a breakthrough in augmentation technology. There are ominous references to a biochip, broadcast
satellites (for the biochip?) and a certain "her" being out of reach (but is she really?). Like the conversation
in the first Desu Ex, this intro only makes sense after you've completed the game.

Summary; Apparently we're going to go to some hearings about the augmentation technology in
Washington. Meg is worried that congress will ask her how she developed this. Hey, it's okay Meg,
as long as you didn't take my DNA against my will while we were sleeping together. Ha ha, right?
Meg? Why are you looking at me like that?

We snoop through her email, where Sarif assures her that such things fall under corporate secrets.

So you're just going to post a load of pictures and then a shitty summary?

Chapter 1 - Intro & Tutorial, Part 2

Finally we get to walk aro-

nevermind, this is on rails

J0QSH.jpg

Zfdfj.png
What did you mean back there, Meg? About how you found it?

Z5uty.jpg
Nothing. It's just my nerves talking

Zfdfj.png
Is there something I should know... About this place? About Sarif?

FppFe.jpg

Z5uty.jpg
Okay... But the increased neuropeptides coming from the PEDOT cluster could be throwing off your calibrations.

Z5uty.jpg
(to Jensen) I can't believe you were asking David. You've been here long enough to know if--Eric!

u7hFI.jpg

yFdIc.jpg
I wouldn't dream of it. Dr. Reed. I think I know why Declan's readings are off.

Z5uty.jpg
Too many peptides?

yFdIc.jpg
I'm thinking the glial tissue breakdown we noticed after splicing in the repressive protein might be the cause. If we had a better cytometer...

Z5uty.jpg
We might get a more accurate reading that confirms your theory. I'll ask David to consider it.

Is it better like this?

Anyway I'll switch to 1024x768 in the future, but the screenshots I have I'll post in 1280x1024

The automatic unlocking device is a preorder thing isn't it? In that case I won't be using it.

Can Linux not just batch resize images? What's wrong, baronjohn? Is your operating device so inferior or are you simply not knowledgable enough? :smug:

Smaller images.

Longer updates.

You'll get the hang of it. :salute: for doing this.

Chapter 1 - Intro & Tutorial, Part 4

Z5uty.jpg
You over-think everything, Adam. The work we're doing is good. We're helping people overcome their physical limitations.

Zfdfj.png
Yeah. Except most of our clients seem to be D.O.D.

Z5uty.jpg
It's not all military. We work with teachers... doctors... construction workers.

vO75A.jpg

j7Ifq.gif
Sorry, sorry...

itNqp.jpg

vwXiO.jpg
For Washington? Hah!

VLXTF.jpg
Ah, Dr. Reed. This is General O'Neill.

CB3bY.jpg

Z5uty.jpg
Yes. Thanks to Vasili, actually...

VLXTF.jpg
As I was saying, sir, the Typhoon uses a modified combat chassis, like the I'm wearing. But I've improved its design, using shaped micro-charges to propel the steel balls.

WMZRb.jpg
And the backblast problem?

VLXTF.jpg
Solved through kinetic bleeders in the augment. Here, watch.

FwZIt.jpg

Zfdfj.png
You're right... A teacher would just love having one of those things.

Z5uty.jpg
You're missing the point. Defense contracts keep us afloat. But neural augmentations that make you think faster, react quicker... They can really improve a life. Everybody's life. David's talked about it for years.

Zfdfj.png
Yeah. He is a talker.

Z5uty.jpg
He's a good man. Admit it, Adam - a part of you likes him.

Zfdfj.png
I like everyone, Doctor Reed.

12Bhp.jpg

2vBMI.jpg

(we're going to...)

t0l9v.jpg

Zfdfj.png
Did he destroy that vase yet?

Z5uty.jpg
I moved it. And I fenced in the yard -- like you always said you were going to.

Zfdfj.png
Yeah... Never did get around to that. ... Sorry.

Z5uty.jpg
Me. too. About a lot of things...

Z5uty.jpg
Adam, I... There's something I--

jV7Wv.jpg

rkFK7.jpg

:rpgcodex:

JqUhb.jpg
So. Are we all ready for the trip?

Z5uty.jpg
There's Faridah... I'd better hurry. See you at the helipad, Adam.

JqUhb.jpg
Did I... interrupt something, Jensen?

Zfdfj.png
You fix that firewall yet?

JqUhb.jpg
You don't 'fix' an entire firewall. You find a loophole and plug it.

Zfdfj.png
Then did you plug it?

JqUhb.jpg
Yes. I did. Want to know how? Oh wait. I forgot. Ex-cop. I doubt you'd understand.

Zfdfj.png
Ex-SWAT. And you'd be surprised.

Zfdfj.png
Sarif ask to see you, too?

JqUhb.jpg
Athene. She wants me to show her how to track our scientists' implanted locator devices. In case your security plans in Washington don't measure up.

Zfdfj.png
They will.

jkenX.jpg

This will be important later:

i8KkZ.jpg

Now we meet David Sarif and a lackey.

HkNU9.jpg

X41fD.jpg
The man doesn't jump for anyone. He's a Nobel Prize winner!

oGKiV.jpg
Senators love this guy, Lyle... the Hearings will go much smoother with him there.

oGKiV.jpg
Big day for us tomorrow! Everything in place?

Zfdfj.png
Yes, sir. Capitol Police will escort us to the Hill, and then Federal Protection Services takes over.

oGKiV.jpg
Good. Good. How's our girl holding up?

Zfdfj.png
She's nervous.

oGKiV.jpg
All she has to do is show them her research. She explain it to you?

Zfdfj.png
Not really into the whole science-thing, boss. :retarded:

oGKiV.jpg
It's incredible. All those purists out there, accusing us of tampering with the natural order, when all Megan's done is figure out how to unlock the potential that exists within our DNA!

oGKiV.jpg
It's safer, and easier than anything Hugh Darrow ever did!

We're interrupted by

WzwNU.jpg

Later it's revealed that this is an additional security alarm that Jensen installed himself that the attackers missed.

oGKiV.jpg
We'd better not take any chances. Not tonight. Use my elevator to get down there. You know the code?

Zfdfj.png
Yeah. Oh-four-five-one :smug:

Anyway we get into the bloody elevator. Soon there will be action!

Chapter 1 - Intro & Tutorial, Part 5

aaXcS.png

JqUhb.jpg
Her G-P-L implant shows her moving through the micro-chen labs. I think she's running!

Zfdfj.png
Damn. Must've been a serious equipment failure. Can you get eyes on her?

JqUhb.jpg
I'm trying, but the intellicams aren't responding. There's interference coming from somewhere. Find out what's happening, Jensen! Hurry!

Bzzzzzzzzzt

Zfdfj.png
Pritchard? Pritchard!

Anyway, Jensen, not really being into the whole science-thing, takes his infinite-ammo tutorial combat rifle out of his pocket and starts stalking the labs. We won't be using the combat rifle or any weapon whatsoever in the tutorial, but I don't think you can put it away.

6ZrDs.jpg

Things are not looking good.

We meet a scientist trapped behind some glass.

MuztT.jpg

Unfortunately before we can help him a huge augmented merc comes around, throws another scientist against the glass and executes the first with a hand-mounted rifle.

OjG4B.jpg

We find a vent behind some boxes - there's no other way to go.

DlTLM.jpg

The vent leads us to the other side of the glass, but the scientists are dead and the merc is gone.

4lFg0.jpg

All we can do is continue on our way.

The next room can be tricky if you want too long. We quick run in before the mercs get in, and hide. Then we wait until they aren't looking and crouch run up the stairs

Rlxjf.jpg

dCBV6.jpg

t5TD0.jpg

In the next room we crouch-run to the left side while the mercs are chatting about killing scientists

SWJgK.jpg

RJdhG.jpg

We run through the door when they're not looking. It doesn't matter if you alert them since there's no alarm for them to trigger, and they're programmed not to go through the door after you.

6ebiY.jpg

Another scientist!

p5Xi9.jpg

Oh shit! Open the door so I can shoot it!

KNEIW.jpg

Who invited her?

o3AJI.jpg

She disappears, and the scientist opens the door with his dying breath

Like always, we quickly position ourselves as close to the room exit as possible before the mercs get in. This means jumping over the fence and hiding behind the tables

p2Xox.jpg

Ti7UC.jpg

Did I mention that I  the industrial and lab environments in this game?

Anyway, we run out of the room and down another corridor when suddenly we're ambushed by another super-merc

nrEsl.png

He throws us through a wall into a room with Megs

pCkUK.png

Ouch. That looks painful

yEWLs.png

As if that were not enough, the merc then proceeds to choke Jensen

b887C.png

Meg throws a barrel full of acid at him, which he conveniently shoots while in the air, thus enveloping himself in the acid

IpCrQ.png

Ohhhhhhhhh

bKnQJ.png

The two other super mercs come into the room. They're carrying another person - a scientist?

DNMyy.png

The head merc slaps Megan, then shoots Jensen in the face with a revolver. We'll return the favor later.

Now there's a fancy movie about Jensen getting reconstructed

YefCq.png

LdgJo.png

ZjGWA.jpg

That concludes the first tutorial mission. Tomorrow, the plot thickens, and we'll be introduced to our many awesome augmented powers, will we will never use.

Scale the screenshots down to 1024x768 or 800x600, and you may gain a reader.

This game is surprisingly good. If only it would separate skills from augs, then it would be BEAUTIFUL. I haven't gotten that far, though.

That man has a point. Not everyone has 1600 x 900 LCDs.
