Yeah, yeah, this game has already been discussed a billion times before here, but I just want to ask if it's worth getting. I played the demo and it seems decent enough, even with the cheesy dialogue and simple gameplay.

So what do you think, Codex? is this game worth getting?

Sure, unless you have something better to do. Like washing your clothes, doing the dishes, watching commercials on the TV, etc.

Absolutely. Definitely the most polished game Bioware have released. Unfortunately the character skill system has been greatly dumbed down but all the other hallmarks are there: good story, great characters, well designed worlds. I loved the new Normandy too.

Not unless your goal is to keep up with the local herp-a-derp or have light masochistic tendencies. In retrospect, not even the retardation lulz are worth it, tbh.
The writing is cringeworthy - and not in a good, '80s campy action movies, way; the plot gets a pity laugh every time I'm made to remember it; and the action is GoW's slow brother with some barely functional magic thrown in as an afterthought.

Depending on what you're looking for, you're better off with some shooter or watching porn.

If you want to play a shooter: No.

If you want to play an RPG: No.

If you want to be EXTREME: Yes.

It's a fun game with pretty graphics and entertaining characters. The gameplay and story aren't anything special (and sometimes the latter is actively terrible), but it's extremely polished and has good pacing throughout. If you don't like popping moles or taking cover, stay away, but other than that it's a very solid game for what it is.

It's not a good game, but nor is it an entirely bad game.

If you can stomach a generic corridor shooter for the chance of being EXTREME there are worse ways to waste your time.

Think of it as a summer release popcorn flick. Don't go into it expecting to be amazed and it's somewhat entertaining.

Just don't play it female shep and romance Jacob. No need to make a mediocre experience even worse.

Do play it female shep since jennifer hale is more tolerable than mark meer. Don't do the retarded, cringeworthy romances. I know it's 80% of the "content" in the game, but they're downright painful to endure.

It's much worse than ME1, so I recommend picking that up instead if you haven't played it yet.

Garrus wasn't too bad. Though thinking back on it now it might be because BioWare left his dialogues half-finished and he responds with his calibration line for most of the game. But yes, do play Hale Shepard. Oh god now I wanna replay ME2

B-Movie quality experience - expect to cringe and go into it with a lighthearted approach for 'It's-bad' giggles.

It's largely average like that.

Calling Mass Effect a B-Movie experience is like calling Tom Cruise's new banal shooting movie as old school B-Movie romp, or Fast Five as throwback to cheesy racing B-movies from the 80s, but the problem is, they AREN'T.

Real B-movie experience from top of my head is Contra, Castelvania for NES.

Mass Effect feels like Summer's AAA-overhyped blockbuster. Oh, but people think it's 80s hardcore because of additional gore and some aliens dropping F-bombs. My god, how 80s.

Gameplay is bad as it gets. Popping moles and taking names. But verryyy large portion of the game is spent into absurdly bad dialogues. Ok, I wouldn't be against cheesy game dialogues, especially in action games, but there they drove it into overdrive, and they are too long, and dialogue choices are also pretty awful.

This game is so fucking bad that it doesn't have standard whatsoever, and I have pretty low standards myself.

If you like console shiters that play exactly the same, have exactly the same engine and only textures change - then by all means go ahead.

If you think you can stand retarded writing and don't mind all this cover faggotry that much, yes

there is a lot of shitty shit, you're not supposed to play it below Veteran/Hardcore(except on popamole vehicle minigames where shit gets boring), you're also supposed to edit your saves to get more resources(needed for some relatively important things in the game and upgrades) since the main way of acquiring them is very fucking boring

I actually like this game, it's worth a pirate if you liked the demo, without the DLC(mostly they include new squad members, ship parts and missions, generally with some sort of minigame. Feels like they cut content on purpose) there are 5GB versions with ripped video

Actually don't buy this game

There's a thread named "about ME1" or something that I made:)obviously:), it's mostly people sperging about sci-fi and fantasy but there is info about the game if you need some extra coaching to get it

the class you pick may have a big influence on how fun the game is, so some experimenting is advised

It is a Sci-Fi story with corridor shooting mechanics between story pieces.

I agree with the Hivemind. You can have fun with ME 2 if you can accept it for what it is and don't go in with a mindset of expecting an epic RPG experience or ME1 with a different story.

You can even argue there's not much of an actual main plot in this game...

it's pretty much you kill a big fucking thing and destroy another big fucking thing that's not explained in the game but apocalyptic events happen anyway in the next game, which are caused by a retarded thing that wasn't explained in the first one and probably won't be explained anyway

The key to an enjoyable experience with ME2 is to have a doll in the form of your favourite character from the game on hand to fuck whenever the heat of the moment gets you.

Any merit of the game is simply destroyed by the abysmal ending.
I say you should play it, but don't pay for it.
