A lot of this sounds promising, I just hate all the talk of cutscenes. Really goes to show you how gameplay is getting replaced.

More like loading screens are replaced with cutscenes. Amount of gameplay is no lesser than in previous games, if not larger. MP3 doesn't have entire levels built around non-action, like MP1 and MP2 did.

No platforming on blood trails with screaming baby.

Yeah the cutscenes are basically MP3's elevator

Well, that is good to hear, but do cutscenes really interrupt gameplay a lot like some people are saying?

I didn't mind so much the non combat vignette's in MP2 like in the police station, but those obstacle courses at Mona's fun house and the dreams in MP1? NO THANKS so good to hear they're gone.

Zero platforming, though there's lots of terrain to use to your advantage, one thing they fucking nailed was level design. The cutscenes are kinda heavy in the first bits of the game but after the stage is set it slows down with the hot beef cutscene injection and there's a lot more voice over while you play.

The game is pretty long too, as far as actual gameplay goes.

If you enjoyed either of the previous MP games you'll like it, I honestly think it's a step up overall.

- Too easy. I played this on hard and found it too easy. I think its because of two things: popamole and the automatic "saving throws" when you receive a fatal wound but you have a painkiller.

Let me guess - you have target-assist mode on?
No, free aim but if someone was raised on quake and cs then popping headshots one after another, without slow motion, is not a problem. I think thats also why I didn't notice a complaint people often bring: that it takes too many bullets to bring a guy down unless you shoot for the head :smug:

That's one thing I love about the free aim playlist online, nobody whining about headshots, cuz everyone is going for them.

One thing I fucking HATE is that bullshit adrenaline booster preorder.

People launching intuition 3 and 3 painkillers straight out the gate.

So is not THAT bad after all? I might try the demo after all. Any reason why the game is so fucking heavy, by the way?

1080p cutscenes, I guess.

The gameplay is good, some classic maxu paynu with added pop-a-mole but it's fun and challenging (on hard). While it's no more noir the game still has character. Also seems to optimized good, dunno why they posted those monstrous system reqs.

t's still better than constant bullet time regen in MP2. That made it piss easy on any difficulty.

Considering that you don't need slow-mo bar for shootdodging there is no difference lol.

classic maxu paynu with pop-a-mole

Does not compute.

Overall it's a piece of wobbly console shit that has nothing to do with Max Payne.

I have hard time figuring something out:
What was Max brought to brazil in the first place? Was he really supposed just to protect the family? What about the kidnappings in chapter 1 and 2? Were they planned by Victor or it really was just the commando sombra working on their own, without any involvment from Victor or UFE? When did Max become the guy to put all blame on? When Rodrigo was assassinated? That was the plan? To assassinate him and put blame on Max?

I think so.
I think originally the UFE were going to kill the Commando Sombra and Rodrigo would be so greatful and throw money at them and Victor's campaign but Max's interference forced them to step it up. Max basically got everyone killed with his competence.

To you bros that already played through the game - how long did it take you to do this? Especially - how long would you rate the actual gameplay parts, minus the cutscenes? I really liked the first two Max Payne games and what I have seen so far from this game looked pretty ok - I need some mindless shooting from time to time when I chill in bed. Is the game sufficently long enough to warrant the pricetag?

take all the cutscenes out of all the games and it's longer than any of the other two.

Wow, that's impressive. MP 2 was a pretty long game. I don't recall how long MP1 was. It's been so long. I suppose this will replace MP2. The MP games for me have always made the previous one redundant. Of course I just have one example, but I have the feeling that's the way it will always be. Either the next installment replaces the previous or it's shit.

Some guy in some forum wrote that he finished it in one day. Don't know if it's true, maybe he breezed trough the game on easy.

So it's really worth its money? :o 50 euro is pretty much for me and I dont want to waste it on a short game. I really enjoyed all the rockstars games before, hm.

Max Payne (in his alcoholic moments) looks like my favourite singer of a band, so this looks like some potential LARP potential.

ALso, is it just me or does Rockstar have some guys with a music taste that is awesome to choose their soundtracks? It really fits all the time.

You don't need slow-mo bar for shootdodging in MP2 either, it's completely free, unless you use a mod that changes that. So there is a difference, at least in MP3 you can't use regular bullet time if you abuse shootdodge, and they made it so that environment matters when shootdodging, you couldn't fuck yourself over with it as much in MP2.

take all the cutscenes out of all the games and it's longer than any of the other two.

Well it's certainly much longer than MP2.

Took me 10 hours to finish on normal difficulty. Died a lot.

The cutscenes were the best thing about it, and I'm not talking about the slow-mo QTEs, I mean the story, the dialogue, the characters. Max in particular was great.

I'm a little disappointed there wasn't more of it, but the first two took me about the same time to finish and this isn't an epic open-world game like GTA... so I'll take 10 hours. But I want multiplayer to work. I still can't connect.

Definitely, Rockstar have great taste in stuff like this. If I need "cinematic" game done right I look to Rockstar for it. Song that started to play in last MP3 level felt perfect too somehow.

Ok, I went to shop just some minutes before and bought MP3 on a whim.

Menckenstein - this game better be good, or I will make you die a 40 virginity deaths as equal to what I have paid!

Can be done in one day if you focus on it and spend like 15 hours.

I finished in two days. Circa 10 hours. It's polished, but I still think is a lousy 3rd person shooter.
