When using the fixed width forum layout, quotes nested several levels deep get less and less horizontal space for each paragraph, making them take more vertical space. At some point quotes start taking multiple screenfuls despite the text itself being relatively short.

Switch to the fixed forum layout, then open this: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...-was-free-shoes.133186/page-1240#post-7638934

This can probably be fixed using CSS via a max-height argument. The best solution would be of course to disable further nesting beyond a certain nesting level.

Not using the fixed width layout unfortunately isn't much of an option with a large display.

Your browser window should have three buttons in the upper right corner.

Have you tried the middle one?

It lets you adjust the browser's size.

Paragraphs that long aren't readable on a display larger than 23"-ish. Mine is a 43" in 3840x2160. That's the reason why many sites switched to fixed layouts in the first place.

Yes. I was suggesting you resize your browser window. Make it smaller.

Quotes should be compact but scrollable like in mobile version. Or just cut down all leaving just previous two posts max quoted

That actually is the default XF behaviour. DU edited it out because he loves quote pyramids.
