Quit trying to derail this thread. People are trying to discuss the profound word doc.
You used your cognitive abilities? I'm surprised.

I know what this is about. You people think I'm unable to produce a proof of concept?

Absolutely, let's see you put that word doc into practice, even in the smallest way. Buy cheap low-poly art assets, forget about system requirements for now, and let us experience this ‘theatre of life within a sword and sorcery setting’. Otherwise you are forever an Ideas Guy, and an annoying one too

At best I can turn the plot/characters/setting into a visual novel like it was already mentioned. I'd work on it day and night if it would convince anyone to make my project come true. I remind you, it is a Next Gen 4A title. At least I think so based on comparing it with other video games.

Would it make a difference that I have a visual novel? It doesn't make much sense to me since the plot/setting/characters would have to be done from scratch again. As for actually starting to make the game fully on my own, I can try to learn Unity. I guess.

Normally, when prior threads garner reactions like this:

I literally hate you.
https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...life-in-a-fantasy-setting.140310/post-7646018

Most people would step back and think that perhaps their approach should change. Not you though!

At the very least, you should heed advice like this:

You lost me at "MSRPG" when I saw how long the rest of that was. I think you need to work on the elevator pitch and really bring out whatever you're trying to get across. I'm not reading all that and then finding out that you're a plucky blogger with a dream and no skills, money, or connections.
https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/the-future-of-role-playing-games.137130/post-7169630

You can't expect anyone who isn't invested in whatever you think you have going on to read whatever the overlong twaddle you keep posting is. It's not that people can't do it or can't understand it, it's that no one gives a shit. I won't even skim something like that without either having interest already or sending you an invoice that you can pay first to make it worth my time.

Sort it out and until then, let this thread die like all the others you start about this same fucking thing.

mediocrepoet - Whatever mediocre, you didn't read the original nor the current and so, you don't know that I listened to your own bloody advice and rewrote large parts of the document. I worked on the pitch. That's it, you can sod off.

I haven't read any of your walls of text. Neither has almost anyone else because the length and your attitude turns everyone off. I don't have any horse in this race, I just like pointing out how incompetent I think you are and that you don't appear to be a learning animal. Either that or you're severely retarded since you think that you listened to my advice to "work on your elevator pitch" and came back with a document that's actually significantly longer than the original without informing anyone why they shouldn't roll their eyes at that and tell you to go eat a bag of dicks.

I've taken a look at the pdf document.

This project's ideas are a programming nightmare, some of them are almost impossible (I would say impossible but some super genius programmer might be able to implement them sometime in the future, specially in a way that wouldn't need a supercomputer for the game to run properly). Something like this would require several decades of work by a large team of good programmers to be able to be implemented even half of all the gameplay features mentioned in the document.

This will not be feasible unless it cuts off "almost impossible" systems and the programmers are guaranteed a stable job with regular above-average pay for at least a couple of decades.

It is very obvious that the author of the document is a writer and an ambitious "ideas person" who doesn't know much about programming.

I'm not saying this as a joke or to spite the author, it's just how it is.

Risewild - I agree fully. I doubt you meant the dialogue system and the combat system, these are easy to implement in my mind although I can understand that all the scripts required to simulate life would be a programming nightmare. I figured if there is a database of all possible interactions, the game can be accomplished through scripting. Essentially, roaming NPCs Advanced.

If a character can move from A to B, if a character can move from moving around in area A in idle movements to fulfilling objectives set by the stress/health/endurance percentages and the journal/inventories or what the character knows and owns to moving around in area B based on a script firing because of the aforementioned systems then why shouldn't a character decide to talk to another or even a group because of the stress percentage being low or the time being post work time.

I hope this clears up what I had in mind. Thank you for the comment.

Pressed X to doubt. Would be funny to see what that Chat AI bot says about a game that is a simulation, RPG, RTS and Adventure game all at the same time. In this newest pitch, he also added the tag 'dating simulation', which I take it is code for elf porn (his self published novel that nobody bought does carry an +18 age warning for adult content...)

tl;dr - BGETO.

tl;dr2 - Best Game Ever Thought Of.

Date of delivery: Four years

Genre of video game: Simulation in the style of Role-Playing Games and Real Time Strategies as well as Adventure Games

Genre of plot: Medieval fantasy with the possibility of an industrial revolution

Setting: The world of Archei, pangaean continent of Archei

View: Isometric 2D or 3D, bird's eye view

Game Framework: 2D or 3D world, painted retro-style 2D or 3D models with fluid and vivid animations in advancing real time, 2D interface, an advancing twenty four hour light and darkness system, advanced AI

Actually, the book has no depiction of sex and it is only mentioned. The book is meant for mature audiences because it is thought provoking and there's lots of violence, burning bodies and dismemberments. Dating simulation is actually a tag meant to represent that characters can romance one another.

Only on the codex can someone understand a chivalric romance to be elf pr0n.

Since we're talking about the book, what is it even about? I only read the free synopsis but it didn't reveal much about the plot (only reveals why it has 0 customer ratings):

If once there existed naught at all, it would mean there was a beginning.

Within naught there is endlessness. Thus, there is lack of naught and instead there is thought.

And darkness.

You need to be a professional writer to torture words this badly and twist them into prose this purple. You need to be retarded or 12 to think that any of that gibberish makes sense.

In conclusion, you definitely found the right book and author.

Thank you for your sacrifice Victor1234. Now we finally have something substantive to discuss.

Commentary added in red.

tl;dr - BGETO. wut

tl;dr2 - Best Game Ever Thought Of. By this mongoloid, I suppose.

Date of delivery: Four years lol

Genre of video game: Simulation in the style of Role-Playing Games and Real Time Strategies as well as Adventure Games To try and get into the author's mind space: It is simultaneously all video games except for the games which it is not, which it is.

Genre of plot: Medieval fantasy with the possibility of an industrial revolution Steampunk with chainmail instead of trench coats. That's some heady stuff.

Setting: The world of Archei, pangaean continent of Archei Ugh.

View: Isometric 2D or 3D, bird's eye view View: Yes, you will be able to see it.

Game Framework: 2D or 3D world, painted retro-style 2D or 3D models with fluid and vivid animations in advancing real time, 2D interface, an advancing twenty four hour light and darkness system, advanced AI Game framework: Plz plz plz figure this out and program it for me! I'll take anything!!

:retarded: Completely agree.

So the design doc is... basically, make a game, could be anything, but it needs to take my shitty fanfic world and make my piss poor writing a reality. Wow, I can't believe people aren't lining up around the block to hammer through a 30 page word doc to mine for these gems.

Laughing out loud, guys. When I say that I can make my book's setting the setting of the video game you understand that it is already done? What in the name of the seven hells of Baator makes people like you want to vomit on other people?

To be fair, that was the summary he posted of the previous game. I don't know what BGETO means either. I understand in the new one (which I didn't read fully either), he's made a lot of improvements thanks to your feedback specifically. I opened it to look at the first page and saw there's another summary like in the old one. The big change is that delivery time will now be 6 years instead of 4, and 'extensive scripting' will also be required on the game framework, otherwise it looks the same.

I have. You read my posts every day apparently. Go hard.

Besides, I'm not a self proclaimed "professional author" who's trying to sell people on an idea or sell books, or much of anything, at least not here. You, however, are.

Regardless, let's play this game:

If once there existed naught at all, it would mean there was a beginning.

This is stoner level faux-profundity.

Within naught there is endlessness. Thus, there is lack of naught and instead there is thought.

This is actually retarded. Actually, within nothing, there is nothing. If there is nothing, what sense does any concept of space actually have? Either way, even if your cosmology said there is concrete space despite there being nothing, this doesn't imply that there is anything at all, much less thought. Other than that, in order to have thought, you must have a thinker, so either there is nothing, or there is something. But this conclusion doesn't follow its premises on any level.

Anyway, I'll grant that the requirements for e-pub fiction is far lower than any serious writing and won't actually push on this too much. But that's why I say it's retarded wank. I get the impression that you're far younger than me and/or aiming at an audience far younger. So... fine.

mediocrepoet - You are... a moron. Research the number 0, zero or oh, and tell me it is not infinite nor that it is nothing.

Now, please, for your own benefit, try to understand that if nothing is infinite, well, in that case it cannot exist. If nothing ceases to exist, there is something. The number 0 does not cease to exist because it means nothing in terms of a lack of sheep in example. Yet the primordial nothing that is indeed, a complete and utter lack of anything, cannot exist since within there is an infinity of nothing. If you consider nothing to be an A to B path, you are a moron. It is an area, it is not bound by a centre or an ending. And yes, the origin of the physical world lays within nothing. It is not because it is infinite. Therefore, concepts exist.

I don't mind explaining this, you know, so for your own benefit, note that a concept is a thought uncontained by a mind. It becomes a thought upon learning it. So, concepts exist in a physical world as attainable thoughts. A tree in example. Further on, my dear moron, mediocre troll or whomever you are, if the universe contains concepts, are the concepts thoughts? Is the universe a mind? This is my plea to you to sod off from matters far beyond your cognitive abilities and comprehension of matters.

Calling intellect wit just before calling out the exact same person on having an intelligence quotient just above that of a chimpanzee is pretty dumb.

Wait! You were sarcastic? I heard it's the last resort weapon of an intelligent person in a conversation with a fool. Do you consider me a fool? Or is it just that you're already witless and found no other way of continuing the conversation other than insults? I was actually concerned about you, being on the Codex and what not while clearly a... moron.

I'll just leave this here...not just an unrecognized genius and a writer, but a Polish linguist/translator superior to native speakers, who has uncovered a vast conspiracy.
Thanks, I explained it one more time for your and mediocrepoet s benefit.
No need. I think I've given you far more time than you deserve. Best of luck in your non-starter projects.
