Fallout series, but for a different reason you guys might think.
The first game was brilliant and it introduced me to PC role-playing gaming. Couldn't wish for a greater start.
The second game, however, was a... wayward son to put it mildly. It was an amalgamation of easter eggs, ego stroking and inappropriate humor. A sensible decline I'd say.

Honorary mention for Ultima Ascendent that took a good shit over the Ultima Underworld legacies

I think Lands of Lore 2 was the first game I bought eagerly after enjoying the first and then discovered it had absolutely nothing in common with the first game. I actually preferred LoL 3 to 2 even though that also had little in common with the original.

Already mentioned in this topic (probably several times) but The Elder Scrolls series has been pretty debased. However, I don't consider Fallout 4 significantly worse than FO3/NV though it is the worst in the series but at least I was able to complete it without rolling my eyes in an acute attack of tedium like with Skyrim and abandoning it less than a third in.

I don't know - in my eyes fallout 3/NM and Skyrim are old-school, authentic, rpg masterpieces compared to Fallout 4.

I hated that I couldn't find a faction in Skyrim that wasn't a bunch of fascist cunts. At least Fallout 4 offered a little more than that.

You can't blame Nords for being nationalists with all these Khajiit immigrants taking their jobs with their illegal trade.

Well, I want to start my OWN faction and wipe them all out. I feel FO4 was vaguely heading in the right direction with its moderately interesting sim settlement feature but it was completely half-assed of course and even mods couldn't really help it. However, implement a sim settlement feature in a triple-A RPG where I can grow and nourish it and take over the land and I'll be there, even if Bethesda does it.
