You know, I am unsure of your definition of parrying.
I always understood parrying to be any method involving contact between your own weapon with your opponents' with the goal of preventing a hit.

That is also correct according to Wikipedia.

I do however agree that Mount&Blade has great foot combat as well, parrying is really well done.

There is blocking, and there is parrying.
Parry when you lead the weapon away from your body.
Block when you just stop it dead in it's tracks by a 'counter-slash', or simply positioning it against it.
You cannot block a thrust (only a with a shield), but you can parry.
Btw, you can parry with shields too.
Now you understand, I hope?

The thing is that you are arguing what is essentially a subtle difference. While my choice of words was not the best, I stand by my statement the end result of both blocking and parrying is to prevent the opponent's attack from succeeding. To most people there isn't really a difference between stopping an attack and changing the path of the blade, since the end result is that you don't get hit in both cases.

It's not that you are not right, because you are... it's just that for the most part it doesn't matter.

I never said M&B's combat was bad, just that it wasn't the best. I think it would be a lot better, for instance, if you could move the mouse in the direction needed to parry (or block) an attack while holding down the block button. As opposed to just having to time your pressing of the button to when he's started the attack. I also wish you could control which direction you attack from, probably in the same fashion.

Doing mounted combat right would have involved a significant amount of dedicated time from more than one programmer and more than one artist and a good chunk of time spent in QA.
Teh Profeshunals keep saying it just can't be done¹!

¹M&B was made with one programmer and one artist. A husband and wife team.

Wikipedia said:
In fencing, the parry is a defensive manoeuvre intended to deflect or block an attempted hit.
Other definitions I've read are "counter-slash" or even more general descriptions. Yours, I haven't read anywhere; also I have never heard or seen blocking mentioned in regard to fencing.

Now that the M&B is getting bigger, we can shower them with even more nice ideas and GUIDELINES to improve it and make it a better place for our player to live in ;)

Nae, I'm sure he won’t do it.
That's like diving into the pond with hungry alligators...
You must have guts to do so. And have no brains.
Well, second requirement is met. I doubt about the first one, though ;).
EDIT:
Oh, that's in case you are a juicy, lamb-like fanboi, with soft flesh that is so vulnerable to our teeth...
If you are an alligator yourself, you will even enjoy it, I'm sure.
