I think (or hope) the most the escort would have to face are a few spiders routed from the battle, if that at all. We are not far from the dwarven quarters and that place is next to our tower, so it's not long a journey. I do see the value of not breaking apart the pairs (Amena and Ithapi, Serpent with Christine), but we will be the ones facing the real challenge, not them.

They are going through the dwarven quarters again, and then back through the shadow path. A mage to cast the wards is mandatory, and there are ghosts in the quarter. 4 members should do.

We still have the bulk of the group with us.

Reasoning:
Going after Miosguinn is the correct decision. He is at his weakest now and he also has the Halcyon Stone.
We cannot let the kids here because the burrowing spiders can still get them. Best decision is to send them to the tower with Amena and Ithapi. Also Thais is there to manage that group.
We must not carry the relics to the Blues. We dont know their use and the Blues need them for something. Send them back to the tower with Amena and Ithapi.
The bomb will be too useful in a fight with Miosguinn to pass on.

edit:
Flopped 4 to Nevill's suggestion.

edit2:
Added Thais to escort.

The reason why I don't want to sent them to the tower is because they are still a target, so I want to separate them and the survivors. And since we are the main threat as far as Mios is concerned, it makes sense for us to take the relics. The Blues can only take them from our corpses, and at this point the game is over anyway. So if we don't die, the relics are safe, and if we do, it does not matter.

Zero Credibility has a good point about pairs. Right now these people work better in tandem:
Derryth+Thais
Gareth+Brigit
Amena+Ithapi
Serpent+Christine
Biliku+Uttu

So it makes sense to assign teams with this in mind.

No, we should keep the relics with us at all times. Whoever has the relics will have a huge target painted on them, so let's not give them to the kids. We should take them and hopefully the Blues will come to us sooner or later.

As for the escort, Amena and Ithapi should work fine, since they're the most familiar with the tower and have magic, melee, and healing capabilities between them. Then again, from an emotional standpoint, it might help the children more to go with Christine and Serpent, who they're more familiar with. They probably need the comfort right now, and having adults instead of two other kids around might be better for them. Regardless of who we send, we should probably tell them to fortify the tower and perhaps start giving the kids some basic training once they're there.

Well, what to do with the relics depends on just how much of that stuff there really is. If we can easily carry it all, that's one thing. But if we are talking about a lot of extra weight or even needing the wagon to transport them all then taking them with us makes no sense, because we definitely can't take the wagon with us on the hunt. He will not be so considerate as to only run through passages wide enough for the wagon and then we will have to face the choice of abandoning the wagon, turning back or splitting our forces - not a good choice at all in that situation.

As for the escort, I do fear that only two people might be a bit too light. Who knows if there are any spiders left around and then there's the ghosts and shadows might be also pulling tricks. I wonder, how much time would we lose if we all escort them to safety - then we could only leave the minimal crew behind with them.

There is an anvil involved.

I say take what you can carry and leave the rest here. If they want them so bad, they can be the ones carrying them and slowing them down.

This.

It took us two days to get here. Waiting for four days is not an option.

Biliku, Uttu and Christine are bound to do something stupid since their parents just got murdered.
The best we can do for them is to keep them close and try to prevent them from doing it or atleast manage the aftermath.
Amena is no use in a fight and Ithapi is still not fully recovered from his injuries i think. They are the best candidates to escort the kids back to the tower.
I dont get the reasoning behind carrying the relics in the hunt for Miosguinn. They would be useful if we wanted to lure him out but this is a straight hunt since we are on his trail.

Biliku and Uttu will listen to us, and we have to have a pair of skilled fighters, since there are at least 6 spiders around Mios.

Christine will probably not, which is why I want her escorted out by her husband.

Nah, he is fully healed. Four days have passed, and if that wasn't enough, Serpent healed everyone during the preparation time.

That's what is left when you don't want them to remain unattended here and do not want to make the kids the target. Leave half of them here, and take half of them with you. If they want a full set, they'll have to pass through you, and you won't be hunting them down while carrying an anvil.

I suggest taking the manual and the claw with us at the very least. They sound like the most probable target.

1. Miosguinn: He leads the handful of remaining Blues and he has your stone. Bari intends to track and kill him to avenge his wife, his lord and his friends do you go with him?

B) This is not over. You will avenge your dead, you will find him and end this.

2. The Reds: Casgair asked you to look after them if anything happened to him. (8 children aged 6 to 8.)

A) You decide to take care of them.

i) you send them to the tower (they will need an escort)
Thais, Amena and Ithapi.

3. The Silver: Neith asked you to look after them if anything happened to her. (5 children aged 7 to 10.)

A) You decide to take care of them.

i) you send them to the tower (they will need an escort)

Thais, Amena and Ithapi.

4. The Relics: The Blues wanted them for some reason, though you do not know why exactly.

C) You take those that are immediately useful/important looking (and light) and load up the rest.

5. Anti magic grenades: You have time to make 1 without slowing down too much. Do you?

A) Yes

Anti-magic grenades were a good idea I admit, by the way, if wasn't for Tyrvard the plan has been a smashing success, we got rid of almost all the fuckers at once, our allies included.

You are probably correct about Biliku and Uttu but i think Christine will not listen to us if we try to prevent her from going after the man who killed her mother.
But Biliku and Uttu are skilled fighters and will be very useful on the hunt, so we cant send them away. Thats why i stand by my descision to send Amena and Ithapi.

Also I really dont want to carry the relics to the Blues because I think that a master of illusions will find some way to snatch them from us and use them for his purposes.
If we leave them here it is the same as giving them to the Blues for free, since nothing will prevent the burrowing spiders to grab them 5 minutes after we leave.

That is almost all of your mages.
Do not discard them easily - even if they can't hurt Miosguinn directly, the mages can still fry his minions better than the fighters can. He doesn't have many of them left, so limited firepower is not really an issue.

Jori and Ari were not unwelcome in our team. Actually, if more people survived, we would not have to split the group right now.

She will listen to Serpent, and her mother wanted to protect the kids. She will go with them.

I don't care. If he is close enough to us to steal the relics, he is as good as dead.

Nah, send whatever stuff we can't use in the hunt with the kids. I don't think that those items make them any bigger target than they already are. The spiders want to eat them, the ghosts and shadows want to kill them anyway. The only side that wants those items in particular is spider boy, and he would want to the kids dead or converted anyway. But if we are pursuing him he is unlikely to be able to circle back to attack them, so the only thing we have to worry from that front are remnants of his troops wandering around. If we are sending four people with them (say Amena, Ithapi, Serpent and Christine) then the escort would be formidable enough to take care of that. Let's just hope it doesn’t leave our main force too weak.

But the spiders and the ghost are not the ones who want the relics.

If the relics do not ride in the wagon, Miosguinn can't afford to hunt the wagon and the relics simultaneously. He wants everyone dead, sure, but he does not have enough forces anymore.

The relics were what started this whole thing. They are important.

It is actually very, very likely. He has to rely on deception now that the brute force have failed.

They weren't our team, the dwarves were only concerned about their mission as the others were concerneb obliterating each other, and they succeeded, we have been caught in a four sides war for the relics, that's all, and while more warriors alive would have been useful against Miosguinn they would have been at each other's throat soon after.

Nah, we could have negotiated the Reds giving us the maul, I think.

While this LP has a very frienship is magic vibe I don't think that cultists give away relics just because, you can't negotiate that kind of stuff.

Neith was indifferent, and Casgair wouldn't be in a position to argue, what with most of his people dead.
And if Casgair had an accident during the fight, who would even object? Biliku and Uttu? To an archmage Derryth?

It should have been possible.

Also, why do I have a feeling this LP is about to take a 'mind control is magic' turn, with all the training Nine gave us?

If your argument is that he is ready to risk turning back with us on his heels, then I see no reason why the the kids are at any less of a risk regardless of what we do with the items. Presuming he can find the kids, how would he know that the wagon that I presume is going with the kids is not carrying any items? And even if he does know that somehow, they would still be a priority target for him for conversion and / or hostage game to get us to give him the damn items we took. If he can shake us of like that (and with a pathfinder on his trail) and find them then it would be foolish of him not to take on the lightly escorted kids instead of the group actually hunting him.

Conversion process does not happen instantly.

They are much more likely to stay alive as hostages. If Mios has the items, he has no need of the kids.

We are taking a risk with the kids either way, I am just trying to minimize it.

If he takes them hostage, that will ensure we find him. Then we can come up with a plan.

If he doesn't, all the better.

I am quite sure that Fangshi rolls resist against losing control of our body every time we speak with Nine, we are luky to have high wisdom I guess.

Nah. The alternative you are proposing is to take what we carry and leave the rest. What I'm proposing is to move what we can't carry with the kids. Since if he has give us the slip somehow the chapel would be the first thing he would check (certainly before going kids hunting) he would still have the same bloody items. All that he would be missing in both cases is the stuff we took personally, so the kids would be just as useful a target for him in both cases.

But that does kind of give me an idea. Do we have any explosives left to trap the vault for a last fuck-you in case he does make it back (either because he has slipped by us or because we are dead)?

I suspect that he is after the manual or claw anyway.
And it would be good if he checked the chapel first, and not the wagon with the kids. Gives them more chances to get away. I don't want them to have anything of a sort.

Would be nice, though I only think it will catch a few of his spiders. He is far too smart to fall for it.

I am floping to Nevill's plan. I reconsidered about the relics because now i think that if we carry as many as we can then we will paint a target on ourselves and the kids will be safe. I am not floping the Amena + Ithapi escort though, because i am pretty sure they are the best option, since Amena can navigate the paths that protect from ghosts back to the tower and Ithapi is in fighting condition (as Nevill mentioned) and he can provide protection if needed.
