I don't see how another website's exclusive can be a "codex scoop".

Did anybody else on the Internet know about it before Kahlis's post on the Codex? No? Scoop. :smug:

It's just way too cartoony, man. I'm expecting Bugs Bunny to pop up out of a rabbit hole and go "Whats up doc?" any minute. Maybe he's hiding in those bushes, and the guy on the cargo crate is Elmer Fudd?

Romanceable rabbits are sure to be included (the non radiated variety).
No, seriously you're kidding, right?

Someone add bloom to it.

I was actually more excited about the original "leaked" screenshot to be honest.

But I'm excited about it nonetheless. Even if it's not going to be my cup of tea, I want the genre to expand, and for that you need variety and volume.

Looks bland and boring as hell and not "post apocalyptic" at all.

Also, what's with the green filter? Fallout 3 got flak for it, but in Wasteland 2 it's suddenly ok? :M

That's not green filter.

It's the colour of your puke coating the screen, brought on by those horrible 3D graphics!

What is post apocalyptic and why?

Would you instantly connect this scenery with "Wasteland", if you would find it randomly on the web without captions? Atleast the first lulzy screenshot had this Scorpitron, "green goo of radioactivity +3" etc. where you atleast knew "ah yes this is something postapo". The new one doesn't do that for me, even putting my disliking for the game aside I don't think it looks very good.

Hell we have factories still being used in our town that look more worn and torn like this building.

Wow, what a horribly shitty screenshot. Seriously, look at that wall texture. I've never seen a worse wall texture than that yellow on that drum.

And WTF is grass doing growing? Grass should be dead, lifeless and brown. Like in Fallout 3. That shipping container also looks tiny. Here's a real person standing next to a real shipping container:

man-on-shipping-container.jpg

Look how that compares to the person standing on the shipping container in the bottom right.

Those wall textures in general look very unrealistic. Here's a real picture of a wall:

Very poor effort. Fail inXile, fail.

As for the black border. What is this, some kind of bad meme?

I have issues with both the first one i saw, from the KS, and this one. Between the two however, i prefer the shitty bloom is the future AA+AF+turbo plasticity one i was shown at KS..at least i got a vibe for the game, even if i'm an asshole disliking what gfx(zzzzzz) are meant to look like today. This 'leaked' one however (and thanks Infinitron for posting!) is..bland..could be a shooter game, it being a screenie of the intro..could be a strategy, could be a futuristic cyberpunk sports shit, i get nothing. Just a type of graphical representation which although alright, has no feel to it. Which is proper, as it is the fucking bloom generation.

Better graphics = Better game. duh

Actually, someone posted on site that had employees rate their studios about Inxile and Fargo. He/She said that Fargo spent too much time wanting to make their games look good instead of worrying about the non graphical features.

He has issues to deal with that go beyond wasteland 2. Unless he means it to be his swan song, and i doubt that. So in part, i fear this is something he will have to address in a way that pleases both the old farts and the newer generations. On the other hand, it is just that, well..look at DU's post above. You start going for detail and ultra crispness, all of a sudden details matter, they will provide the emotional 'touch' or detract from it. So you are bound to have people looking for flaws, as we can all understand urban contexts.

Something about this screams "amateur $10 shovelware game" - and I pledged for this shit. Look to Chaos Chronicles for top down 3d done right.

In b4 looks like shit. DAMN IT NEVER WORKS.

Actually I am disappointed they didn't stick to their guns and use real color. You know green trees and stuff like that. The orangey shot was a little off but it looks like this is going to be another one where they use terrible filtering, the lazy way that hides flaws, instead of working to make a good palette. And yet people still complain it looks cartoony! But maybe that's due to some of the postprocessing making things look more plasticy/shiny/whatever than they could. To me it just looks too drab and generic, but it isn't bad at all just not breathtakingly good.

I think you might be trolling.

Well, then you are an incredible dumbfuck. A guy who's here to soft sell his game as he comments on rpg news and using his real name as his handle would never troll in a million years, you clown.

Wow, you really are so full of lameness you can't even imagine why someone could not be lame. Try to step into other people's shoes just a little bit instead of taking the majority opinion and assuming anyone who doesn't conform to it is a terrorist.
