Why the hell did they do the site in Coldfusion anyway? It may be a decent enough webdev language but dare I point out the obvious open-source, widely-used alternative with heaps and heaps of community support? Come on people! Use PHP! You know you want to.

Michael is a nice enough fellow, and he means well, but his previous site efforts never managed to draw me in. The design was decent, but there just wasn't enough content to keep me coming to them beyond the "oh, you made a site! how nice!" point. That isn't to say this'll be the case with his ToEE website, of course. (on a related note, anybody who insists on referring to the game as "Greyhawk" deserves a spanking. Just like people should call Torment "Torment", and not PlaneScape, or worse: PlaneTScape).

As a site designer myself I'd have to say that while his site is all good and utilitarian looking, it doesn't really take the cake as far as web design goes. Judging from his previous efforts, I'd say that his site is just one of those things you might pay a visit to a couple of times, but it probably won't be anything along the lines of Terra Arcanum or one of those European Fallout sites (like Ausir's and SlamServ's to name two instances) that have unique information and other stuff, or Duck and Cover. Or my own site, LHChronicles which seems to have quite a number of persistent readers due to the development updates (people can't be arsed to visit the BIS feedback).

However, with all that said and done, I'll note that it's pretty nice to see the ToEE community picking up somewhat. Think we should venture into this?

What's the point? RPG Codex is a CRPG site, ToEE is a CRPG..

2 + 2 = 4
