This has got to be a joke, right? What kind of Old School party-based RPG makes you play a pre-generated main character?

I think the point is that one of your characters has a pre-defined background. That isn't that much of a deal breaker, I think. Of course, it would depend on how important that background is to the game itself.

It's a deal breaker for me. I'm looking for a classic wizardry/might & magic clone. The only character with a pre-defined background should be the recruitable NPCs who join the party. Otherwise, creation of the party members is the soverign right of the Player.
