This has got to be a joke, right? What kind of Old School party-based RPG makes you play a pre-generated main character?

But... but... you get to play James Connelly! (Who can even be a woman!)

Bah! I'm pulling all previously mentioned principled support.

Harumph!

I think the point is that one of your characters has a pre-defined background. That isn't that much of a deal breaker, I think. Of course, it would depend on how important that background is to the game itself.

It's a deal breaker for me. I'm looking for a classic wizardry/might & magic clone. The only character with a pre-defined background should be the recruitable NPCs who join the party. Otherwise, creation of the party members is the soverign right of the Player.

I understand that, but I got a feeling that having one of the characters with a pre-defined background won't be more more restrictive than, say, needing to ally with Pharaoh in M&M5. I admit it seems like a weird design decision, but I would wait a little while before deciding what to do.

I dunno, maybe I am just less on the edge than most, but the vibe I got from this game is that they are trying to take some ideas they had been talking about for a while and turn it all in a kickstarter as quickly as they could. So, rather than going over all kinds of gameplay, they just hinted at stuff for some reason. But reading their page, the hints at least form a somewhat consistent image. I do wonder why they were so desperate to get that out, but I won't hold that against them.

So far, they've shown more informations about the game than Obsidian and InXile together :troll:
