On the subject of NSFW pics on the forum.

What should be the policy on NSFW pics?

Last, my advice to people who complained about the pictures and voted for the stronger policy - if you don't like it, make your voices heard in this thread. If you don't care enough to state a strong opinion, don't expect things to change much.

Ugh, well I can voice a strongly worded opinion, but it's preaty clear which way the wind is blowing, and I'm not going to pretend my opinion counts for anything here. Thing is, asking for a minimum level of semi-intellegent discourse isn't really in violation of an 'unmoderated' forum. Automated russian spam posts and other idiotic threads wind up in Retardo Land. Why? Because they really don't have any redeeming value. Neither, IMHO does shit like tubgirl and goatscx.

I mean, really, it dosen't. Stupid pornographic 'gotchas' exist only so someone can feel all clever at having tricked people into seeing something they didn't really want to see. Does that garbage really serve any purpose? Does it belong on an RPG site?

It might sound stupid, but I think letting that stuff go unchecked lowers standards of the site and really undercuts any claim the Codex makes to being a place where intellegent conversation takes place. I suspect it drives off a fair number of otherwise interesting and valuable posters. Now, you can bluff and bluster about how if it drives someone off then 'They aren't the sort of person who should be posting at the Codex, anyway,' and 'If they can't stand the heat they should stay out of the kitchen'. But do you really mean it? I mean, is that really the sort of place the Codex is supposed to be? Is that really where you want to put the bar of entry? Are the standards here really so low? Does that attract people who'd like to have intellegent, hype-free discussion about RPGs, or does it attract asshats who think the hight of wit is tricking strangers into clicking on a pornographic link?

Don't get me wrong, if that's what you want, more power too you, but for a place that supposedly has some sort of standards and intellegence it's a bit ironic.

I think, that if you come across a topic you find incredibly stupid, you should post how idiotic you think the thread is. I mean, hasn't it always been the philosophy that people don't get banned or censored, rather everyone else just cracks down on 'em until they submit and fuck off? Angry mob justice actually works

Tubgoat and it's ilk we can keep out of serious discussions, and I would think most people here are smart enough to not fuck up a decent discussion just for some questionable comedy.

Say what you want though, I can still find those tricksy links humerous.

I prefer and argument, even a nasty one, to tubgirl. But as long as it's in links, I can at least avoid it.

Shees, the poll ain't good enhough for them? For all I care they strip the tags of this board and be done with it. The stuff is obviously for nothing but fucking around.

But I don't think the links should be banned though. Hell that Hentai discusion could be considerd interesting and was by codex standards mature- probebly because none of the troll ups wanted to admit they knew what they were talking about.

If somebody feels the fucking need to disgust others, let them atleast work for it.

3rd option.
I'm okay with any kinds of images, just as I'm okay with any kind of text -- if it's dumb and boring/cretinistic, I'll just give it but a quick glance or ignore completely. Same applies to images.
I do find *the majority* of funny/nasty images posted at Codex actually quite amusing, sometimes even hillarious, and I'm sure many are with me on this.

Vieing images at workplace could be problematic, but I always has the image disabled there, so it's alright from where im standing.

I really think that it's responsiblity of each poster to actually think about viewing stuff at workplace, or not doing that. I understand that in many kinds of jobs it is possible to have a lot of free time during the work-day (images being rendered, no work left for today, etc), but still I do think that it's on this very person to keep it "boss-friendly". It's not my fault that you got caught reading an unrelated to work material.

But if you're so desperate, why not just use the image filters? At least in Firefox it's easy as shit: go to Options - Content - Load Images - Exceptions and include the Codex as the exception. See, there is no way to attach an image to the post, it's not allowed here, so all the nasty stuff is sure to be outside codex's server. However, if you feel confident and safe (and brave), just right-click on the image placeholder and select load image, or open it in separate tab.
Real simple.
If you are too lazy to do that, then it's your fault, not the poster's.
