I've played through the Grand Campaign '39 add-on and I found it pretty easy and not overly annoying. Now I'm at the Grand Campaign '40 add-on and I find it really stupid. Basically, the developers thought it would be a good idea to set triggers and spawn fucking enemy units on the map. Preferably behind my lines and near objectives that I have already taken. I wonder who told them this was a good idea.

In the current mission I'm supposed to capture a French general (easily done by turn 5 or 6) and escort him to the Capture Zone. Which is when a shitload of French troops spawns all over the place. What the fuck am I playing? As far as I can tell, the scenario wants me to break through the enemy line, capture a bunch of objectives, THEN break through the enemy line forming behind my troops in order to reach the starting zone. Not sure will play again.

Yeah the add-ons are pretty weird. Rather than being abstract versions of real operations often they are silly 'commando' style raids and things with stupid triggers to try and add suspense and artificial challenge when the game isn't really designed for it.

I like additional enemy reinforcement it force you to take all enemy cities (from what I noticed they spawn only around those still held by enemy) and makes game challenging after first 5 rounds when I usually shatter enemy Main Defence Line/1 wave of Attack. Played 43 campaign fighting hordes of Soviet Units was even realistic for Eastern Front experience.
