This is currently on sale, is it worth spending some time on? How much woke trash can be found in this game? Is the combat any good? Is the story tolerable?
It’s Poz, not woke. Combat is good. Story is overwritten.

I know that the sequel to this, Wrath of the Righteous, went full degenerate, but can this one be considered not distasteful to someone who is normal?
You should skip it. There are homosexuals up in there.

Also, there is a possible threesome between a green male Half-Orc and a white redhead female Half-Elf. And you can make the main character black.

Utter degeneracy.

It's tolerable.

  • There are some black NPCs.
  • There is a black potential companion, but you can kill him as soon as you meet him or kick him out of your party later.
    • They gave him good stats, likely to encourage you to keep him in the party.
    • The game tries to push a side romance where he gets with a white woman, but you can cockblock it.
  • If you consider orcs and goblins to be black-equivalent, be warned that there is a potential companion of each of those races. Again, you can kill or dismiss them.
  • Six of the twelve possible companions, and approx half of the NPCs, are female.
  • Most of the romance-able characters are bisexual, so regardless of what sex your main character is, they will hit on you a few times until you reject them.
    • If you actually like CRPG romances, you're already a faggot anyway.
  • There is probably some gay and tranny shit which I've overlooked because I tend to space bar through dialogues. If you go looking for it, it's safe to say you will find some obscure NPC who is gay married or whatever.
  • Caveat: I'm only in chapter 4, so maybe the entire game turns into a gay orgy in the final chapter, I wouldn't know.

If you consider Orcs black equivalent you should apply for a job at WotC. They do too.

Have some pride, man.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
As someone who has tried to like this game a few times I'd say skip it. It's not 100% woke but there is enough activist garbage in it to destroy any sense of immersion in a fantasy setting.

Which is kind of crazy since the game places you as an feudal lord in a medievel style setting. You'd think there'd be plenty of oppurtunities for hamfisted moralising without it infesting your companions etc. but what can you do.

Also people talk about skipping companions but the way the game is designed you are heavily penalised for doing so via the kingdom management mini-game.

I wouldnt say "skip it", its a good enough game. But man, the setting is an absolute mess, its clearly meant to be able to accomodate multiculturalism and diversity, and thats why its such a bizarre and alien place, with niggers and asians running around medieval europe as if that was a daily occurrence. Its impossible to get yourself invested on this world, because it all feels artificial, fake, the mundane more unbeliable than the most magical spells by virtue of the widespread acceptance of degeneracy by the population, the difference races coexisting in the way that they do, etc.

Like, imagine goblins being allowed to exist, these fuckers are like gypsies but more easily identifiable, how is it that they havent been cut down to the last centuries ago? Pathfinder as a setting makes about as much sense a numenera, its all nonsense that only works to get players wondering why they should even bother.

I marvel at the depth that the poison of Christianity eroded some of the puritan's minds. It is something to behold. Rejecting Octavia, Regongar and Ekundayo - impressive!

Makes for an interesting challenge run on Hard+, though.

There's an entire map to explore centred around an interspecies lesbian wedding.

The game is quite open about being pro-gay and there's a tad bit of virtue signaling going on throughout. I didn't find it overly obnoxious to where it stopped me enjoying the game. Just a few eye-rolling moments. I was much more right wing then than I am now so yeah I'd say politics won't stop you enjoying this game.

The kingdom management is shit though. Really intrusive. I used a mod to tone it down. It's definitely worth playing. I love Kingmaker.

I hate the Kingdom Management so much that on my next playthrough I'm turning it off completely and will be using a mod to buy artisan gear instead

Huh. I never realized that was what was going on there. Thought the scythe tree was some random monster that attacked the village for the hell of it.

Well, kudos to Owlcat for including a realistic lesbian relationship.

Broke up a pending marriage as well. The jilted groom and the dad who wasn't totally on board are the villains of the story of course.

Which is correct. If he "loved" his bride so much he couldn't tolerate her freedom and decided to curse her instead - well, that person is definitely a villain.

It's what He's for.
Breaking news: Santa Claus does not exist, either.

I really liked Kingmaker. I played it twice, but haven't gone back yet. Partly because I think I experienced just about all of it, and partly because it's a very long game. It desperately needs a SCS-style AI mod. The game steeply declines after The Bloom and becomes a lot of copy/paste zerging. Except for perhaps 2 dungeons, I found the undead and barbarian chapters to be tedious diversions.

Its one of the rare instances where I loved a game but wanted less of it. Owlcat should have kept a few dungeons, but otherwise scrapped those 2 chapters and put all of that effort into Pitax and its chapter.

It cannot possibly be overstated how much this would improve the game. Kingmakers has a bad habit of just throwing bland enemies at you that have no unique abilities or spells to watch out for. And if they do have unique abilities you just need to keep the correct buff on all of your party.

(first posted on the Wrath of the Righteous thread by mistake, but I meant to post in the Kingmaker thread)

CBA reading the whole thread but I've never played this game and it's on sale on Steam for peanuts.

I like all classic IE games and played them on release. My favourite is BG1 because high-level AD&D is very boring.

I tend to dislike munchkinism and I'm not particularly attracted to buildporn. I try to find a build that works but I don't lose any sleep over any of it. Having variety is nice for subsequent playthroughs.

I'm also not a storyfag, as long as there's a functional premise I'm in. I like exploring (yes, I consider painting the map exploring) and limiting my IE plays with things like no resting in dungeons, etc.

I can't stand SJW garbage and it's very likely I'll stop playing if there's anything in my face to that end in any game. Since this has a Pathfinder licence, is it completely infected?

Would I like this?

From what I've experienced, Kingmaker is not terribly infected with SJW shit. You will want to disable all the kingdom management garbage though, and get the orc companion killed as quickly as possible.
