Thinking of playing this now. Would y'all say they fixed enough of the bugs since it was released?

Dunno, I will still wait till they stop doing hotfixes and release their first real patch.

But what about the hotfixes to fix the bugs introduced by that patch?

I will just restart. Chapter 1 through 5 had some minor bugs but over all were alright. There is no fun in having to rest every 2-3 minutes just so I can use dimension door to move forward slightly, which is what chapter 7 has degenerated into.

I will see I guess. If it doesn't get better I will revisit it in a year. If still a bugfest I have to accept that I'm better off with playing a modded Baldur's Gate :|

Damn, I was so happy mages were not so obscenely overpowered as in BG 2, but apparently I was wrong. Octavia got her hands on sirocco and is obliterating everything on solo. Things have become trivially easy on unfair and I'm still in Armag's tomb. IF he's not immune to will spells, he'll most likely end his days as a relatively mangy dog.
Also, this game needs proper evul quests and a Blackguard prestige class. I know there's one in Pathfinder, I wonder why they didn't implement it though. Only goody-two shoes get that precious, sweet cha to saves bonus now.

Thought I found the most powerful ability in the game
c8puZkI.jpg
But of course it's bugged
Most of the domains are broken and clearly untested. Even the basic starting skill for Madness is broken, something you can test by simply starting the game

And that is not even her final form.

A duo of pure Wizards like Conjurer + Evoker could probably faceroll whole endgame. Then again just running a *proper* (30 INT+) Wizard shows how much you miss with just Octavia being your only Arcane choice. That flexibility and power of having 2 good Arcane casters in party, nothing compares to it. Like, Wiggling Man on previous page? Two casters with Hellfire Rays turn him into a pudding in a round.

Clerics are no bad either, Blade Barrier is so good.

Also Druid's Elemental Swarm with all Feats summons like 20 shits who roflroll over endgame enemies punching them with fists - or at least take too long to kill for enemies to pose threat.

Tristian is also interesting in his
Anime Form since he auto-maximises like all Fire spells I think?

And never forget Heighten spell. When you just need that 1 spell (cough sirocco bladebarrier cough) turned into 15 extra copies.

Sounds awesome right... but
Only from domain
  1. Burning Hands

  2. Scorching Ray

  3. Fireball

  4. Controlled Fireball

  5. Flame Strike

  6. Summon Huge Fire Elemental

  7. Elemental Body IV (Fire)

  8. Summon Elder Fire Elemental

  9. Fiery Body
So, the way he works now it is literally one spell per level (1 fireball, 1 controlled fireball) because he can't memorize more, except Flame strike - this spell on regular cleric's list.
In other words only Flame Strikes.
And of course one need to check if empowerment actually implemented at all, you never know with this game.

I respec-ed Octavia into a fey sorcerer (+2 DC) specializing in enchantments + all feats+all necessary gear (ring+cape+robe). Remember notoriously hard to kill defaced sister in Tristian's quest? I constrict coiled her. 3 Daemons in Vordakai's tomb? Stood there somberly overcome with grief. I shudder to think what a transmuter wizard would do. Probably contribute to the lack of diversity of Stolen Land's fauna. Dogs, dogs everywhere.

What specifically is it about Sirocco that's devastating? Just the damage output, or the auto-fatigue?

Can't decide if I want to be a munchkin and advance Amiri's personal quest or if I want to stick to my guns for how I've been playing my character and have her blow it. The call of the munchkin is powerful since there's probably XP and/or items and/or other good shit if her quest advances, but flubbing her quest is pretty fucking satisfying too.

Also, dunno what the deal was but the womb was super easy for me. Didn't even need to fuck with splash damage, swarms got slaughtered easily enough anyway and poison's not an issue since I just keep delay poison memorized at all times now. And while I'm talking about unrelated shit, still want to find a nice robe/nicer hat for my wizard, and Valerie's still on her starter mundane tower shield. Surprised I've gotten to level 10 without finding even a +1 tower shield. There's one in the shop (IIRC +1 and 10 fire resist) but it's also a solid 8k gold which hardly seems worth it. Still playing super fucking slowly since I keep dipping into other games, but I'm dragging my heels a bit because it sounds like after season of bloom is where the bugs start showing up in force so I'm hoping 1.1 will shield me whenever it hits.

RIP rapebear, you were a noble beast.

High damage (save half, excellent for bosses) + AoE (excellent for bosses with armies) + fatigue that turns into exhaustion 90% of the time + knocking prone. Basically all you need to do is deliver a coup de grace.

Since I know you're all dying for an update on my bugs:

As with 99% of all cases of "performance bugs" turns out it was my own fault! The crashing was happening right after I would quick-save because I had the folder ownership rights fucked up on my AppData and Program Files folders, had to go and change them in the Security tab.

#JustWindowsThings

EDIT: That also simultaenously fixed my mysterious slow-closing inventory menu as well.

I actually feel really smart for having figured it out on my own and fixing it. :D

As for the game well I decided to go with Sword Saint after all. Went the obvious-pick for SS, an Estoc-based Dex-and-Criticals build. So far really enjoying it.

I am loving this game! Pure incline. Everything feels very lethal, especially traps which is refreshing (so much so I actually went and had Linzi "waste" a feat picking Skill Focus: Trickery!).

I love the freedom you have from the very beginning, basically they plop you down and let you visit a shit ton of areas at your leisure, and some areas will be way too tough, but most you can handle if you're smart or you cheese enough. Right now I'm trying to go up a few levels before tackling Sycamore Tree.

BTW here's a dumb thing I did: I made Valerie a Vivisectionist because and now I really regret it. The mutagen is kind of blah and I didn't pay attention to the fact th at their spellcasting is INT-based and she is dumb as a retard, lol. Oh well.

EDIT: My only genuine complaint (and it's an extremely minor one) is that I wish there were some better options for companion AI. Well, ANY options at all.

It is annoying having to trigger Linzi's INSPIRE COMPETENCE every damn time, or having to trigger Amiri's rages constantly, etc.

It's Evocation that targets Fortitude. Main enemies are Fey and suck against it, unlike Will and Reflex which they literally auto-pass regardless of how well you're built. Well, I may exaggerate but it is a fairly simple choice: target lowest or target highest save.

Also like Stinking Cloud or Greater Shout I think SR doesn't affect it, and enemies feature something like their CR+5 of SR by being Fey/First World Template.

An incredibly poor decision, that. There are plenty of items in early game that give you godlike trickery.

Well, I could easily rectify that by using a respec mod from Nexus website but I like the game so damn much I'm actually gonna stick with my decision, in honor of the game. When a game is so good you want to treat it with respect, if oyu know what I mean, and that entails playing it "for real".

Also, your Sword Saint will be a pushover for anything that targets Will saves. Might wanna consider respeccing that, too. You don't need high int on SS that early. Get either charisma or wisdom to about 16-18 and take a monk dip. :smug:

Shadenuat panda A question, if you please - I read it on steam that Tristian has two possible paths ( that is besides of being killed by the protagonist for being the traitorous cuck that he is), and one of them gives him that angelic aura you seem to be talking about. Wht's the other option? I'm speccing him in... necromancy. :D

God damn. That awesome rod(my artisan bugged on me and never gave it to me) and jubilost bugged quest made me postpone game till 1.1.
Altough I can cheat that rod in via mods.

i thought about monk dipping for the crane shit, but i want to pick light armor feat instead.
About that Estoc of yours too... I went all the way too Pitax and never saw anything better than a +2, +1d6 or a naked +4 one. I think you can use Duelling Swords, of which there are plenty of great ones, with Sword Saint though. And that Monk dip is practically mandatory too, get crane style and later crane wing (+4 AC when fighting with one hand free).
