All this cavalier talk reminds me, as someone that prefers martial classes, that cavalier was such a huge letdown in this game. When you can charge, the class is great, but charge is just so limited by unforgiving pathing and bugs. On tabletop you can really fat finger if someone has a valid charge path, but in this game it's cripplingly strict.

The class is capable of eye-popping things, even my defense focused Cavalier charged for 1,2k damage on core difficulty... but the highs are very high but the lows are very often.

I said right from the start that Owlcat lose their shit when it comes to design in the late game.
A corridor is still better than the House though.

After I took a horse for Seelah, some of the complaints about mounted combat became clearer, but some other - way less.

Charging on a horse is extremely satisfying on large open maps, and very frustrating in tight corners. For me it is perfectly reasonable. Bringing a horse into a dungeon or a basement of a normal size house is kind of stupid. Now, if we are to fight in the halls of giants then charging on horses in kitchens and bedrooms would be OK.

As a pure Paladin Seelah does not depend on her horse that much, so in dungeons (which are human-sized so far) I use her on foot and let the horse do its thing. However, anyone who decides to use a class that is efficient only while mounted should think about tight corners, back alleys, house interiors, basements and narrow dungeons. Thus, choose your hero and the pet wisely: the specialized mounted hero has to be a "manlet" and be prepared to fight reduced; and the mount should be small enough to fit with the rider everywhere. Maybe Kitsune are still too big, but there are gnomes and halflings. A Cavalier of the Paw is in the game, and it hints at something.

Man, I used to hate the House too, but then I played Threshold. The House at least had some effort put into it, Threshold looks more like they forgot to put the 6th chapter in the game and realized this 5 minutes before release.

See, I think something they put effort into that turned out shit (and wasn't exactly improved later on) is worse than something they put no effort into that turned out shit. You can tell someone was really proud of the House, otherwise it wouldn't have had those stupid puzzles and teleport mechanics.

To be exact though, I suppose a better comparison to the endgame of Wrath would be the maps after the House since THOSE are really just idiotic copy pasted monster groups and nothing else.

House at the Edge of Time is the best Choice and Consequence implementation in all CRPG's. I hope your mother dies of COVID-19.

Literally the only fucking "consequence" in the House is whether or not you did your companion quests.

But knowing your spastic Rusgoblin ass you probably never even played Kingmaker.

OK, I see your point, however the thing is, second time I finished Kingmaker I remember disliking the House a lot less, in fact, I could say I almost enjoyed it. Largely, I believe this was due to metaknowledge about the whole thing. Ofc, just because it gets better with meta-know-shit, doesn't mean it shouldn't be enjoyable blind as well. However, Threshold, blind or not, IS STILL A FUCKING CORRIDOR :argh:

This was maybe valid until recently. But the change that allows the rider to full attack after movement means that I'm never dismounting. Well, unless subject to CC maybe.

But you can. Cast Rift of Ruin on yourself at some random point in the game.

Well, obviously charging in tight spaces is tricky. But sometimes still possibile. At least I'm not loosing rounds anymore. Quite the opposite: movement + melee full attack is awesome action economy.

The only complaint I have with Cavaliers is that the undead one you get as a Lich doesn't share his unlife with his mount, and thus doesn't get the same immunities. It's funny that in a party of largely tireless, unceasing undead golems, it's the horse of all characters that gets too tuckered out to keep up.

Was the Shrine of the Three a Codex-designed quest, from what I've read online?

If so, that was one pain-in-the-ass encounter that took well over 1 hour to get through :argh:

I have a multiclass mounted char. But no, not longspears. Reach weapons are (were?) more trouble then worth for mounted combat. Plus in case of longspears, they don't crit much. And I'm a sucker for crits...

HATEOT has great minibosses, wriggling man and the hag, a nice atmosphere and linzi dies.
When people complained about it, it was because it was hard and a huge difficulty spike compared to Pitax.

Threeshold is just a fight after the other in a long corridor.

You can pick a class with an undead mount (some hunter I think, or wasit background? Basically you can grant negative affinity or something to your mount from lvl1) also lich got a mythic feat to make it undead.
Right, finished it finally 209 hours in TB with (2 rerolls) for the true ending. The game is a bit too long, I hit fatigue at the end mainly because of the crusade mode I think. So Installed auto-resolve and had to skip time via toybox otherwise it would've been 220h or more.
People hate HATEOT but after it, there was a nice level in your capital's ruins where all your allies rush to help (mites and kobolds!). Also, HATEOT after patches is not the same as HATEOT on release, they changed quite a lot there.
Ambush on your camp while you're at the keep, OUCH! I was at disadvantage there since I killed Wenduag and Camelia.

Agreed, other than the companions dying hateot was great. I don't mind Threshold though since imo the most climactic part of a game should never end with the player stuck or lost. Getting stuck on a final boss or dungeon always feels like shit, and that probably happened to lots of people coming into hateot originally. With Threshold that'll never happen.
