It's called replying to a post. Like, actually writing something instead of clicking on a funny looking smiley.

The reason why buttons exist is to give you an alternative to replying.
Yes. You have a button. Now use it in combination with your written text to emphasize the context. And if that doesn't help, just write in Wingdings. Maybe this will help to properly articulate yourself.
