That's still so bloody short compared to the Infinity Engine games. That's like 30 mins of play or some shit.

I'm probably just gonna do a random race each time rather than build for the encounter.
And fighter's modal gives him even more defense and +regen I believe.

I've not been activating this because the engaging multiple targets doesn't seem to be super beneficial atm - the beetles seem to be targeting my other characters that open the encounter.

And yeah I should be activating the Rogue modal at range. Just been forgetting it was there.

Don't forget you can press 'd' to increase game speed. You likely know, but I noticed you didn't use it in the first vid to speed through the town. Quite the timesaver if you are really going through all 11 classes  .

Edit:

Open encounter by getting fighter as the closest party member to a group using scouting mode, exit scouting mode. All of the group will now have him as primary target, the ones he engages won't turn from him for anything IME. Only reason any decide to run past is if they literally can't get to him because of other hostiles blocking them.

Yeah, i do think it should be x2 health, but i also seem to remember the adventuring days of a level 5 character in BG1 as not being much longer than this.

Okay, plenty of people have tagged me already so I may as well do the draw now. Also, yet another Codex donor is so disappointed in what he's been reading about the game that he's told me he doesn't want to play the beta, which means that, again, I should have two keys instead of just one. (Hopefully they work :P)

Just give me a few seconds.

Congrats, Soilent Green and mutonizer (talk about newfag luck!). I'll PM you shortly.

Damn, I missed SpinyNorman's alert for some reason :( Sorry m8, if I happen to have another spare key, I'll give it to you to make up for this horrible mistake.

I will not be using the speed toggles. I think they will just interfere with testing. One of the reasons I'm doing these videos is to provide video proof of combat feel/speed/pace and using slow and fast toggles will nullify the point of it - the default speed should be perfected.

You sure? I can do multiple maps with a BG1 character. The IE games have healing potions and there are lots of them, you can keep going and going until you are fatigued.

Having played PoE beta and D:OS one after another, I have noticed something funny (well, funny for me, at least). Both of these games have flaws which really bug me, but these flaws are very different and result from two completely opposite reasons:

D:OS is a game, which tries to move classic isometric CRPGs towards emulating P&P experience, made by people with little to none P&P experience.

PoE is a game which tries to move classic isometric CRPGs away from P&P, made by people with huge P&P experience.

Which is better and why? ;)

A lot of the design decisions in PE are rooted in a turn-based mindset such as the taboo with attack speed (which is actually laughable fear due to the DT system) and movement pausing recovery, which is a 4E-ism I think.

Isn't it more like that Divinity tries to be Ultima as with the previous games?

Yes, and Ultima was the ultimate (pardon the pun) P&P emulation in CRPG, except Richard Garriott had csndierable first-hand experience with P&P, unlike Swen and his merry men (and women).

Yeah, but then its more like they are trying to emulate Ultima which they do have lots of experience with.

...

I just noticed that this is a bit of a :troll: argument.

Sry. Forget it.

btw is it a bug that i can only access my stash while the resting ui is visible? taking stuff out of the chest while being at the inn won't work, which seems odd. accessing the stash from the resting screen automatically activates camping afterwards. btw you can trick the stash in shops. just put the stuff you wan't in trade ui and cancel selling. also is there a way to access the ingredients stash outside of shops? there's no button in the inventory ui.

oh, imo v278 got the fighting speed right. now it's actually possible to read what's going on.

I think you have to talk to the inn keeper to access the stash.

Sawyer banalce:

rope kid said:
IIRC I tuned Hunting Bows and War Bows to do less damage than melee weapons since they have roughly similar attack rates but give you the obvious advantage of range.

A rogue will never outshine any of the front-liners in damage unless they're attacking targets that qualify for Sneak Attacks. Sneak Attacks add 50% to every damage total before DT and rogues have the ability to inflict many of the qualifying conditions themselves.

Seems like Rogues have been tuned back from the_DPS_ class

I just made chant of a single note - the fire weapons one, and played it all day. Not sure how hard they nerfed it though.

As for rogues, it's obvious for sneak opener you want to go with highest damage weapon possible. Arquebus takes all rogue positioning, movement and invisibility potions play from IE away that way.
banalce indeed

?
qfg games are a far better emulation of pnp than any ultima, even if they lack the party.

What's so banal?

Bows are fucking horrible because against targets with any considerable DT at all, their damage soon becomes nothing. One Crossbow/Arbalest/Gun shot will still do more damage than a Bow has done over the same amount of time in combat even counting the amount of extra attacks the bow has got in.

*shrug* Might as well say that about any low-damage high-rate weapon.

I guess you want the "commando bows" from BG1 but there was no chance of that happening. Even Bioware killed those.

Nice effort sensuki. I dont actually remember why are you making these videos but thats the first combat video Ive watched holy shit what an annoying micromanagement clusterfuck.
Such beautiful art wasted on a fucking RTWP combat. Imagine how much more fun and fluid it would have been with TB.

Nope, I just want Bows to be a viable choice in the game. I'm not going to use them if they're not given a bump in damage or something.

I'm reasonably sure they will get one.

Why didn't you post the complaint on SomethingAwful as well btw.?
