The main menu theme is too low key for my taste, sounds like random ambience. Compared to PoE1, BGs, IWDs it's barely audible. Even PS:T main theme has decisively more OOMPH to it.

The obsidian boards equivocally approve of the new main theme, citing "those returning progressions!"

I'm ready for some 2D waifus to drop. I know Godlike are supposed to be infertile, but by God, I am going to impregnate Pallegina.

Oh dear lord, this main theme is absolutely awful. It sounds like synthesizer or like he only really had a string quartet and overdubbed it 100x times over itself.

How do you get a live orchestra and make it sound this bad is beyond me.

What the fuck, the first 3 notes are extremely promising and then it all goes downhill. It's just a fucking PoE1 theme re-done.

Absolute trash.
Wait for the definitive and authoritative review once Lacrymas wakes up.

"banal, shit, boring, #notart, #notalent"
Well if it was about gameplay i would take his review with a grain of salt, after all he is a degenerate battlefag. But when it comes to music(technicality not taste) i would take him serious.

PS:The music feels like synthetic generic hollywood one,it is just there and lack umph.

To be honest, I think I may side with Lacrymas this time, for a change. Provided he says he doesn't like it. This is recorded by the extraordinary Budapest Orchestra Budapest Art Orchestra and it sounds more like a synthesizer. I don't like that strings are dominating for 90% of the time. And after some point it feels like it completely "loses it".

Edit: Initially I thought it was the "The Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra".

What is there to like? It sounds like a synthesizer because the orchestra's diversity isn't used and the orchestration is terrible. The form also isn't clear, I suppose he was trying to go for an arch with the intro and outro, but there is no culmination and it ends so fast it's not clear and it sounds tryhardy, as opposed to competent or even intentional. There is only 1 place where the orchestra sounds kind of like an orchestra - from 3:03, because he combines the different material. I could've written this in literally 20 minutes, especially since the "melody" after the intro is taken straight from PoE1. I have a friend who composes stuff like this and has never taken a musical lesson in his entire life, yet he's muuuuuuch better than Justin.

This! People who are saying this good: WTF is wrong with you?!

This is very average at best. What is even the purpose of using a live orchestra?

Working theory - they've delayed the update because a better theme was going to be ready, but it wasn't ready by the 4th, so they are going with this anyway.

Is it just me or did I hear the same scale from one of Jeremy Soul's bethesda songs right in the middle? The song sounds super Jeremy

Presumably they knew that Justin was going to have a baby months in advance and they couldn't manage to get the main theme up to snuff in time for the release of their financially most important release to date?

That is some legendary amateur hour if true.

The point is to say you've used a live orchestra.

You might as well pay the orchestra to say they played it and save the effort of actually having them perform.
I guess essentially. But even if the team didn't know how to utilize the performers well and the drooling masses can't tell the difference between live and cobbling together different parts, you gotta have a live orchestra. It makes your stuff look more prestigious.

Something is definitely up with audio, I mean how the fuck they don't even have Figstarter update about audio, 4 days before launch.

I know I dislike how audio as a subject is pushed back as last priority, and it's the last developer update. I have a distinct suspicion that audio will again be underused as a means to giving atmosphere to locales.
