It's not about being a genius or tooting my own horn, it's simply an observation.

One notable difference is that rogues have access to more flat damage multipliers, so if you give a rogue the gauntlets that let you summon firebrand (29-44 damage per hit) he's going to get substantially more out of it than a fighter. Rogues can get something like +105% damage over what a fighter has access to, not counting finishing blow, which means a rogue can easily crit for over 100 damage and hit for 70+ pretty early on, getting to more insane heights later on in WM. Fighters on the other hand can engage more people, heal themselves, and with WM turn into an accuracy machine that knocks anyone trying to disengage from them prone. You're probably right that in general they're interchangeable, but they do have some exclusive specialized options.

    There is a
    Show Spoiler
quest in Twin Elms to sacrifice an orlan baby to the blood god to make the leader of one of the tribes stronger, but you have the option of killing that guy and taking the baby away with you (though I think you also have to kill the baby's father? or uncle? or something, someone who thinks you're taking the baby to sacrifice it).

I'm pretty boring when I multiclass in these types of games. I usually just end up running Fighter/some mage class because I like heavily armored casters however I don't think something like that would be particularly effective.

Eh. I don't love the idea of stat buff type being hard linked to item type. Makes itemization a bit boring and restrictive.

Finally watched the Twitch Q&A. Some interesting stuff there I thought.

    - Game's gonna have a more open structure than P1. This is something I was specifically hoping for, so yay.
    - Thinking of systemic level scaling that you can opt-in to when starting a game. Sounds good to me, but I do hope they keep it optional.
    - FONV style faction mechanics confirmed. Big yay, as this was severely stunted in P1 and has lots of potential, also something Obs know how to do well.
    - Companion relationship mechanics. Big yay on that.
    - "Maybe" on those enchantable hats I asked about.
    - Health mechanics aren't set in stone. Josh prefers current system but it's too complicated for goons, bless their goon hearts. So that fight is worth fighting.

Overall interesting. I do appreciate how Josh is willing to discuss the systems and his thinking candidly like that, and also give clear indications when something is still open to discussion (health, multiclassing specifics, enchantment specifics etc) and when not (party size).

I do feel like Sawyer's presentation skills have improved pretty dramatically since POE 1. Either that or there's someone off camera with a knife whispering 'be more excited, damn it. be more excited.'

    Either way, it's appreciated.

I think limiting stats to slots is a bad sign. Itemization was probably the worst part of PoE, this is a step in the wrong direction. And again the excuse is: casuals are confused. Fuck em.

If I haven't bought Pillars 1 yet, would the $79 back be a good deal? Or would you guys recommend waiting for a sale on PoE1? (and not backing PoE2 since I haven't played the first one)

Sales are always the best deal, the quality of the game doesn't even matter when you can stumble upon -75% offers and shit.
    Wait.

This would only be a problem if all 6 people in the party have a +3 Might item

There was a Reddit AMA earlier today, Sawyer said that it will probably be two slots.

Few fucks given cuz when people talk about "good itemization" 90% of the time what they actually mean is "weapons with cool procs"

Actually it's already pretty standard in D&D to assign stats to certain slots. In NWN, it's always Boots of Constitution, Amulet of Natural Armor, Belt of Ogre Strength...

In a way this is a good thing since it forces the designers to think of other things items can do besides the usual stat bonuses. No, you're not going to be able to make that Belt worthwhile with a Deflection bonus, so think of something cooler

Which is particularly funny because Pillars had more weapons with (unique) procs than the IE games - people just remember the cool CF stun animation and effect while disregarding that most weapons were just +ele damage(visceral animation on every hit unlike the invisible effect in pillars, even though they do more damage in PoE!) or vorpal.

I hope they do fullscreen item descriptions for all items since I'm certain that's a placebo for most of the complaints. Pillars also had very systemized descriptions while BG's were all over the place, referring to the item effects, not history, a small thing but a definite effect on memorability since you have to read more carefully.

I hope they will adjust godlike racials in light of the stacking changes, this is a pretty big blow to their power. If it's two slots per stat for most items that's enough to keep juggling interesting, just one would suck.
