Rhenmyr tries to gauge the distance and location of the woman's scream. "Shall we continue trying to be Big Damn Heroes, or is discretion the better part of valor? Right, let's see what she's screaming about."

Anyone with an interest in sussing out the direction and distance and maybe even the nature of the yelp can make a roll if they wish.

Rhenmyr tries to gauge the distance and location of the woman's scream. "Shall we continue trying to be Big Damn Heroes, or is discretion the better part of valor? Right, let's see what she's screaming about."

Rhenmyr listens intently and judges that the scream is coming from the hall where their escort just entered, the yelp sounded more "surprised" than one of pain or horror.

A half naked woman can be seen sprawled on the floor at the feet of the Brute who is guiding you. "Watch where yer going, ya stupid whore and get back in your room!" He shouts down at her. "What in the name of Hel is going on? All of the johns up and left thirty minutes ago." She shouts back up at him defiantly. "None of yer damn business. No go!" and he kicks at her rump sending her scurrying back into an open doorway. The large man turns and spies Rhenmyr. "Come. We haven't much time."

"Just a startled prostitute. Let's keep moving." Rhenmyr follows the guard. To the guard he says "Thirty minutes ago? If they knew something we don't our time might be gone already. Who are we up against?"

"Word spread quickly after your little escapade down by the docks. I think a lot of blokes might 'ave gone to see what the fuss was, but once the riot broke out and people 'eard the full battalion of Armigers were coming down the causeway to turn the district inside-out they musta spooked I guess?" He shrugs noncommittally. "As for why me mistress thinks we're blown, she didn't say and I didn't ask."

One by one you crawl through the open door and find yourself in a dimly lit hallway with garish red paint plastering the walls. Aside from a few muffled murmurs the place seems seems eerily still - there's almost a palpable sense of nervous anticipation hanging in the air. Your guide hunkers his shoulders down and pads along somewhat quietly down the hall, turns right, walks on for a bit into an unlit corridor, and after walking for about 30 feet abruptly stops and holds up his hand and places his fingers to his lips. Seemingly satisfied that you are quiet enough for his liking you can hear him fumbling a key into a lock and slowly turning it. Seconds later he turns a handle and opens the door a crack and peeks through the narrow slit and then places his ear to it. Finally he gently pushes on the door and opens it wide enough for you all to pass through.

"Orite, this is where we part ways." He says gruffly. "Stick to the alley and you might stay out of sight." He points to the left, "The causeway up to Hightown is thataway." And then points to the right, "And the docks are thisaway. Good luck, now off with you!"

"Joy. Now the fun really begins. Both plan A and B are to the right. Let's stay as quiet and out of sight as possible. And keep an eye out for anyplace we could potentially hide out until nightfall. Unless anyone has something more to add, let's move." Rhenmyr heads to the right and the docks trying to move quickly but stealthily.

Question for the group.

Do you all want to set the game aside for awhile? It seems like participation has waned a bit and I know the summer can be a pretty busy time.

Anyway, I'm happy to continue on but I'll leave it up to you guys, but especially since it seems we're down to about two regular participants, I'm thinking it might be time.

I'm okay with whatever the majority decides. Personally I think we just hit a snag in the excitement. A rare case of, 'the destination sounds way more fun than the journey' sort of thing.

I'd like to continue too, sorry if I'm not too active! Maybe we could add some motivated newblood to the mix too ;)

Ker puts his hood on and follows Rhenmyr "Let us go, brothers, but maybe we ought to buy some new clothes to help avoiding detection"

What? We'll be lucky to get to a safe hideout alive. A TPK could be just around the corner. As for Helly's suggestion, what happened to the guy who was thinking of joining as a halfling? Anyway, I'd prefer to keep going. If we stop, the game is likely dead.

"Any shopkeeper would tell the watch that we had been there and what we bought if questioned. I'm afraid we're on our own for the time being. But altering our appearance could be helpful" Rhenmyr dons the fuligan cloak and stows his traveling cloak while waiting for the others, then proceeds toward the wizards tower.

Like I said, I'm happy to keep going along if you guys are into it. I was just starting to get the sense that the usual summertime malaise that sometimes overtakes a game might be setting in. As for the guy who said he wanted to play a halfling, I'm not sure what happened? He stopped logging into the Codex shortly after contacting me and asking to join the game. I suppose I could try to advertise the game again and see if anybody is interested?

Oddly enough you can't help but notice a great deal of soiled linen and old clothes heaped in piles up against the side of the building you just exited ...

They are indeed disgusting. Most of them appear to be heavily soiled *ahem* "lady's" dresses/robes and bedsheets.

"Prostitute's discards...ugh...anyone want to poke through that mess for some men's clothing. Dresses will only make us look stupid when they find and kill us."

Our good Kurgan being a school will slow him down. Perhaps we should be in the habit of making our GM aware we're ok with the course proposed even if we don't have anything to add.
A new player or two sounds fine to me. Especially if it keeps things rolling.

Why do I get the feeling you want a TPK to happen? ;)Ah well, some newblood can help the party dynamic (especially a non-Human, for one).

"Rhenmyr, I wouldn't put that on just yet. If the guard has any mind to them they would notice that we...helped ourselves to some of The Seekers equipment. I suggest we remove ourselves of our armor, and weapons, and try to look as common as possible. Perhaps applying some dirt to our skin."

"I suppose this would also help..." Marcán looks for any clothing fit for a man his size in the...heap. "Let it be known that I only do this to save our skins. Heroics does not seem like the way to go in this city, luckily I've only been here a scant few times."

"Cernunnos, I know you're the god and fertility and life, but this is a bit much. Comrades, you know what? I'll just keep the hood. If we need to get pass some guard I still have the three seeker's masks."

I don't want a tpk. Our situation has just gotten rather grim since our heroics and lack of gratitude from Nightingale's organization. Trying to avoid getting wiped is exciting.

"You have a point." Rhenmyr helps look for male clothing. "I'm not sure we should doff all weapons and armor though. We would be betting everything on dubious disguises."

Do we find anything?
"Disgusting" Rhenmyr says shifting a particularly soiled sheet. "If we don't find something soon, we should just move on. Most sane people will have cleared the streets anyway. We'll be suspicious just by being out, regardless of how we look."

When I get home from work tonight I'll come up with a way to randomly determine what you find, instead of just using DM fiat to magically make some stuff appear. Sorry for the delay, things are a little hectic this week.

Marcán spends about five minutes picking through the heaps of garbage that choke the alleyway. He finds a dead rat, some broken potsherds, some thoroughly rotted linens and the like. Basically fuck all.
