Just before Marcán finishes sifting through his pile of refuse, Rhenmyr manages to pull out a tattered and filthy (but intact) brown robe typically worn by a mendicant. He reaches into the folds of the robe and pulls forth a worn piece of charcoal about the thickness of his thumb and a couple of inches long, along with a set of mangled wooden false teeth.

Score!
Given this,
"Comrades, you know what? I'll just keep the hood. If we need to get pass some guard I still have the three seeker's masks."
I'm guessing Ker is too good to garbage pick.

Rhenmyr stows the piece of charcoal pointedly leaving the false teeth in the robe with a chuckle. "Marcán, you can have the robes if the others don't turn up extras."

Borric spends about 4 minutes casually picking up and tossing baskets. He unfurls a veiled robe from a heap that looks to be in somewhat reasonable condition, though it might be a little small for his frame.

during the hurried search, Sokrates idly and dumbly leans down and reaches behind the rickety wooden steps that lead down from the door you were just escorted from. He pulls his hand out holding a neatly folded bit of sealskin tied securely with leather thongs. He gives one of the thongs a tug and unpacks the sealskin. He reaches in and pulls forth an oddly shimmering bit of cloth in front of him that causes your vision to swim and your brain to hurt when you look at it directly.

"Good job, Sokrates! That will certainly make hitting you harder. I can barely look at you!"

Marcán takes the robe and unfurls it, letting the false teeth fall plainly on the floor. "Your generosity knows no bounds, Rhenny."

As he notices Sokrates' loot, he exclaims in Kimmerian "Yeah, nice find. Tie it around yourself, and you'll practically be invisible."

"Hey, given the way today has gone, one or more of us could need those teeth soon." Rhenmyr smiles.

"I'd rather carve new ones myself!" Marcán laughs. "Ah, but I think we wasted enough time sorting through this filth. So, group plan. Disguises, how do we go about it? Tallying up all our equipment, garbage or Seeker quality, we may have enough to establish ourselves as just common peasants or beggars. Though we might have to get creative."

Sokrates furrows his brow and says in his best broken Illyrian-Common, "EEn-Veezble?" He then wraps the shroud over his shoulders and it's as if the great hulk has disappeared from sight, save that a vague shimmer, as if looking through the heat of torch, can just be made out where you know the giant Mitriac Paladin is standing.

As you take stock of your rummaging you can't help but notice the faint sound of yelling and screams coming from inside the building you were just inside. You peer to the right (south) and can't help but notice that the sun has sunken low enough that the bluffs behind the brothel are casting long shadows over the district. With some simple deduction you guess you have maybe a half-hour to an hour until sunset.

"Sounds like trouble brewing back there. We should get moving. To the tower, and if we can't get in, the sink?" If nobody objects, Rhenmyr heads toward the docks tower to the south.

Just a quick spatial awareness refresher: The alley you are in runs North-South and is close to the bluff (west end of Lowtown). The docks are to the North and you can see a bit of the mysterious tower peeking over the rim of the roof of the brothel to the Southeast (you also remember that the Mitriac shrine lays in the same direction as does the gate to The Sink). Moving towards the docks would take you away from both the tower and The Sink ... then again perhaps you knew that and have a different plan in mind.

I won't lie, I'm contemplating pulling off a Harry Potter but I'm certain that it only works if you wear it. Instead of just putting it over your head. Also, it might be better to take a long way to the tower so we don't hit the same area as we once were, and might up our chances against meeting the guard. Then again, we might take too long and end up with the same outcome.

Marcán raises his eyebrows. He speaks in Kimmerian once more, "Oh, wow. Sokrates, that thing you're wearing makes you a lot harder to see. You could be right next to someone and they wouldn't even notice. Keep it on for right now, as we're trying to hide from some bad men. Take good care of it, alright?"

Back to common, "Indeed, we should make haste. Those screams are probably not for a celebration." Marcán quickly puts on the brown robe over his armor. "I say we make way for the Shrine. We could see if they have any extra sets of clothing, perhaps we could pass as beggars ourselves. Speaking of which, Ker, you could try the robe Borric found, I'd say as a druid you might be the most noticeable out of all of us."

"The tower is on the way to the shrine. South either way then. I'm no sure we should impose on the good father, though."
I always wanted to head south, yeah. Don't know where you got the idea I wanted to go toward the docks to the north.

He points to the left, "The causeway up to Hightown is thataway." And then points to the right, "And the docks are thisaway. Good luck, now off with you!"
If you must know, this made me think the docks and tower were in the same direction since Hightown was clearly the wrong way.

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Borric breaks one of his pieces of chalk into fine powder and smears it over the robe he found. "This can be washed off, and I'd rather guards look for a crazy man who's got the bright idea of chalking his robes."

I see what you mean, I could have probably done a better job conveying that the guard/thug was just giving you some very general directions about what's where so you could make up your mind about which way to go.

Technically speaking the alley you are in is about half-way between the staircase to Hightown and the docks and very near the bluff that divides Lowtown and Hightown. Getting to the tower or the gate to The Sink will require cutting diagonally through the district in a Southeasterly direction, which means that you don't have to go directly towards the stairs, but you'll be generally moving into the vicinity of where the Armigers are coming down from.

Not a problem. What exactly are Armigers? Men at arms, shock troops?

Strictly speaking it's a medieval term for an armor bearer, but it can also mean one entitled to bear heraldic arms. So I'm mostly being a twat and re-purposing the word to indicate an elite armsman who is of Hyperborean descent and thus able to bear the crest of a noble house (even if they themselves aren't strictly speaking a high-born Hyperborean noble). By contrast the bulk of the imperial legions are made up of local levies, conscripts and foreigners. Here in Odessos, the Armigers are the Exarch's (i.e. Governor's) elite heavy troopers.

"I will not wear those rags, Marcan. As I said, if we need a disguise we still have the masks. Let us go then!"

Maybe I didn't make this clear, but the bronze masks are part of the unmistakable badge of office for the Emperor's "secret police" the Seekers of Truth and Penitence. Putting them on would sort of be like killing a cop and then putting his hat on . . .

"Fair enough, but I doubt any of us could pass as Seekers. Our dialects, our mannerisms, who knows what they might look out for? Why... simply walking down the street with that mask could give us away. But, who ever questions the validity of a beggar? Keep that in mind, my friend."

I swear I wrote this before our GM gave us his friendly advice.
