"Aw, I think you got a little over-zealous with the pooch, Ker. Good magic dog." Marcán pets the dog behind the ear. "Can we keep him?"

"No Marcán, I'm pretty sure he just told us he actually *is* Master Ghul and that he transformed himself by accident into a dog...Or maybe not by accident. We ought to find more info somewhere in here! Bur first thing first, we gotta help Rhenmyr! Maybe we could put a board into the portal so he can get back? Give me a hand ripping one from those crates, guys!"

Rhenmyr looks at the door reflected in the mirror and passes back through to rejoin the others.

"Whoa. Just a tiny ledge on the other side bordering a shaft. I couldn't see the top or bottom with my torch. This could be a way to bypass the stairs, but we'd have to think about how to use it safely. As for the dog, it might be Master Ghul, or possible his familiar."

"I believe Rhenmyr is just fine. Also, that dog only barked once, which is a resounding 'no' in my (or should I say your) book. Though, I wonder..."

Marcán looks down at the dog and asks, "Do you know a person named Master Ghul, or perhaps just Ghul?"

"The dog found us outside. He seemed to think Ghul is inside. Cormac, do you know why you were visiting Ghul? Was he a suspect for the missing bodies or were you seeking his aid?"

"We were investigating why bodies were disappearing from the local cemeteries. We were tasked with investigating this as followers of Arawn prepare the dead for proper burial. We were here to enlist the aid of Ghul for his abilities in scrying, in hope that he could gives us some clues as to why the dead were missing. Ghul let us in to his tower where he prepared a ritual over several days in order to assisst us. On the third day, his apprentice attacked us, killing our priest and two of the acolytes outright, with fire."

"Hopefully we'll find Ghul alive and he can shed some light on what's going on. Do we want to try opening the door to the central spire (the dog didn't like that door), try the shaft behind the magic door (the dog liked the magic door), the stairs up, the stairs down, or something else entirely?"

The dig sits at your feet as you discuss him at length, his tail wagging and head tracking each speaker in turn. When Marcán asks his question the mutt yips twice excitedly and jumps up on you and licks your face, quickly sits, then lies down and whimpers lightly.

"Yeah," Marcán laughs. "He definitely knows him. Though I fear something may have happened to Master Ghul."

The dog barks twice, but whines. He then bounds out of the room and stands halfway between the stairs that lead up and the other that leads down. He looks left and then right and seems to be unsure of himself.

"I knew it couldn't be that easy. That brings us back to my last question. Central spire door, the shaft behind the magic door, stairs up or stairs down. I'd be willing to try going down the shaft to scout if we can anchor a rope."

Where was Ghul's quarters located and where was the ritual being prepared? How much of the tower did I get to see before the fireball attack?

Cormac recalls that guest quarters were on the second floor, and Koren's private quarters and apprentices' quarters (along with whatever else) were located on the third and higher floors (but in what order they are arranged was never revealed). Additionally, the basement was strictly off-limits and you don't recall anybody asking why.

EDIT:
You remember Koren was not in the basement however.

"We were not allowed to go into the basement. I don't really like basements anyway. I know that the guest quarters were on the second floor and the third floor was Koren's quarters. I would think investigating his quaters might turn up some information. We should definately check the murdering apprentice's quarters and see if we find any clues to why he attacked us."

"Bottomless shafts, mysterious basements, oddly placed doors, or a bedroom. I'd have to rule in favor with the bedroom, honestly."

"Sounds reasonable to me. Do we want tho open the last door on this floor before going up? The door into the central spire. I'm for opening it."
