Orochimaru was killed in the sequence of that panel I posted
But later down the line was ressurected - he had a curse spell called Cursed Seal of Heaven, in which he imparted with the target a portion of his physical and spiritual energy, leaving them with a curse mark on their body, and by using chunk of his physical remains in conjuction with the curse mark, a ritual can then be performed which revives Orochimaru to the mortal plane
After his ressurection, he used the Living Corpse Reincarnation on a Zetsu - essentially a golem, neither living nor dead
And with this he became immortial - plus if even one of those small snakes of his true form (the panel posted) survive, he himself survives
Finally he perfected the only Necromancy spell of Naruto's setting - Impure World Reincarnation

So:
> immortal - check
> undead body - check
> possibility of ressurection - check
> necromancy - check
> curse spells - check
> search for ultimate arcane knowledge and power - check
> neutral evil - check

No Ainz Ooal Gown/Momonga (from Overlord)?

:desu:
Ainz is specifically called out as an “elder lich,” which is the next stage after a “skeleton mage.” There doesn’t seem to be any monster just called a “lich” in that setting.
Ainz/Momonga is an Overlord, not an Elder Lich. He's mistaken for an Elder Lich once or twice in the books, but he's far more powerful than one. He's basically the top-tier of undead casters.

An Overlord is sort of like a Demilich in D&D, in that it's an advanced form of Lich, but it's more than just a floating skull.

I think the undead skeleton caster tier list is skeletal mage -> elder lich -> night lich -> overlord, so I believe you're right that nothing is just called a lich.

I don't want to be hard/ autistic about this, but this sounds like a Tousho from Rance, i.e. Freak Paraffin. Soul transference into a golem is still not a lich. There's just too many villains that have a possession/ soul transference gimmick, including Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, Palpatine, Saulot, Ra's al Ghul, etc...
