PRELUDE DARK PAIN is a turn-based Tactical RPG set in a dark fantasy world. Lead a group of heroes to save the world of Statera and its inhabitants from an ancient evil that has afflicted them for generations.

More than 20 playable heroes, each with two talent branches and a pool of 25 skills. Design your squad and manage both your resources and your team of heroes in and out of battle.

In each battle, players will lead a group of up to five heroes. Choose your DPS, Support, Assassins and many more from 8 classes - the future of Statera depends on your strategies!

Each skill has its own characteristics. Equip the ones you are most interested in to create powerful combos in every battle.

Prelude Dark Pain takes place in the world of Statera, a territory ravaged by the Dark Pain. The Order of the Ashen Crusade rules with blood and terror over a great extension of this territory while praying to the Lord of Pain. However, there are still free people who fight against the lurking evil.

Assume the role of Soren, an ancient warrior transformed into a blacksmith, who will mark the steps of a great revolution. With the help of Tizon, Tammais, Maya and other people fighting against oppression, Soren will have to defeat his enemies... and also the evil that awaits behind the veil's gaps.

The reality of Statera is being torn apart due to the chaos caused by the Order of the Ashen Crusade, which is also causing tears in the veil. Through these rifts, the creatures of Pain can break through their reality to invade the people of Statera.

Players will have to make important decisions that will influence both the main story and the heroes that can be recruited in battle. You may miss some of them because of your previous choices!

There will be more than 20 different cultures scattered throughout Statera. Many of them are hostile, guaranteeing more than 70 different enemies to face. You'll also find final bosses among them!

In addition to the main story, Prelude Dark Pain will be loaded with sidequests that we have called WORLD MISSIONS. These will expand the game's lore and will be vital to recruit more heroes.

Players will be able to manage their settlement to craft weapons and equipment, as well as send heroes on different raids to save free villages, search for resources or spy on rivals. But be warned: the heroes sent out can't be summoned into battle for a while, so plan accordingly!

Haha I'm interested but it looks so GPT-written. Can Soren stop the Dark Pain and save Statera from the Order of the Ashen Crusade???

Maybe he'll need to find the Ember Crown in the Citadel of Sorrow and use its power to defeat the Hollow Twin while he's at it. No doubt his adventure will take him to the Drowned Spire and the floating city of Virellia, where he'll get the ancient sword Stargleam, thought lost since the Blood Wars.

I would probably think the art was more impressive if it was not identical to Darkest Dungeon. As it is, it just blends in. Too bad, since hand-drawn indie games of this quality seem to be rare compared to pixel art.

A 30+ hour narrative based game with writing like that doesn't sound very exciting either. The description of the story is just a bunch of made up words and titles that the developer thought sounded cool when they are, in reality, mind-numbingly lame. The title is also terrible

This is basically Pillars of Eternity writing (and they didn't use AI)

Sometimes I think having a single original idea in gamedev is illegal.

It's also not a great sign if I think your narrative RPG is not written by native english speakers.

Trying so hard to imitate Darkest Dungeon aesthetics and failing miserably. Dunno why people are trying so hard to imitate that. Darkest Dungeon generally had overall great art direction as a whole art, music and narrator.
There was a game MISTOVER a few years ago which tried something similar with graphics but game ultimately was not a success.

Also story seems like worst Dark Sousl fanfic ever.

DD may have had a cohesive art direction, but for me it was infantile and poorly drawn. This game is even worse

Always amuses me that people forget Darkest Dungeon basically cribbed the art style from Mike Mignola
Never heard about the guy, which is not surprising since after googling him it's an American comic book author, and both Americans and comic books are cringe and gay. But looking at some images of his art, if you told me it's from a game, my first guess would be something like Disco Elysium and not Darkest Dungeon. I don't really see much similarity to DD here.

Beyond the style, it's just badly done. There's too much clutter and lack of visual clarity. The characters blend into the terrain. The overuse of 2d lightning is terrible. This style heavily emphasizes lighting and shadows, it should be part of the drawing or it looks amateurish and lazy.

Thanks for putting all those epic names in bold, guys, but it somehow feels like I've already seen this kind of premise before, many times.

Why was an ancient warrior transformed into a blacksmith? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

It's actually the most interesting part of the game, and a well-aimed critique at the state of the industry. Just imagine it – a powerful, ancient warrior, slaughtering mobs since long before Dark Sun came out, now sitting depressed in a classroom, watching a power point presentation titled "requalification training." For in the RPGs of today, one can't be just a mighty warrior to save the land. He has to be, first and foremost, also a blacksmith and a cook, and have incredibly strong back to haul around all his camping gear in addition to everything else.
