In some Holy Balls news via this thread, the source code to one of the best indie CRPGs of the early 2000s has been released on an unsuspecting world. Prelude to Darkness featured a branching story arc, a very interesting take on magic, multiple character classes, and so on.

Now, we'll see what people can do with this. Godspeed, coders!

I never could get this to run for more than 15 minutes or so back in the day. Pity, it looked good.

So obscure the video isn't even in english. Yeah, maybe a review in english with better visual quality could be made. I was surprised about the subforum. Yeah, more cobwebs than GGSs house.

Its nice a few of the old pages are still floating around.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
For anyone unaware of the history of this source code, it has been promised to the Codex on a couple of different occasions.

Konjad is the first person to actually deliver and provide it.

It did take me hunting them down on LinkedIn with my real name... then pestering them for two months... but it finally paid off. They seem to be very busy people, and tbh considering their today's positions I'm not surprised. I appreciate they took time to discuss and share it.

Can't wait to see the My Little Pony and Tomas the Tank Engine model replacements, a "Malkavian" mode and a texture overhaul that replaces all the standard ones with low-quality images of low-quality memes from the last decade.

And another that claims to have a team of 10+ hardcore PtD enthusiasts whose stated goals are a really high-level remaster with dozens of hours of additional content, but we'll find out 10 years down the line the project had been dead for 9 years and everyone on the team was only around 12 years old when they first made the announcement and had no coding or mod experience when they started work on it.

Would really just love to be able to play this without it crashing every 10 minutes. Thanks for creating that possibility Konjad! And thanks to the possible hero coder who undergoes such a task.

Hey! At least it isn't a KS "Unknown!" This was released and now.... who knows what some mad creator-tweaker will do.

Last time I played this was 2003ish would be nice to be able to play it again without having to fight crashes or maintain a windows xp box.

Very interesting. The Codexian hyping up of this title has intrigued me, but I never felt the desire to go through the presumably massive hassle there is to get running. Godspeed to those of you trying to get some semblance of stability to this thing.
