Why would you want to switch from tactical turn-based to popamole third-person combat?

Because if executed correctly it can add a new dimension of tactics to the game in the form of suppressive fire, instead of just waiting to see an enemy to click on them and shoot, you can preemptively shoot wherever you want at least to scare enemies away or reveal their positions if not to kill them. Let's say for example an enemy is hiding behind a bush or something, you can't really see them but you have a general idea of where they might be, so you switch to third person and start shooting somewhere there.

Check out 7,62 High Calibre, it's a great tactical game that excels at this concept.

Every turn-based tactics game worth its money allows you to aim at individual body parts, using direct aiming is just a more immersive way to so. Really hope this is good there is a severe lack of tactics games.

Released earlier than Phoenix Point, and non-Epic exclusive too!

Yep, now I know what to spend my refunded PP money on.

EDIT: Oops misread, I thought it was going to be released soon. Still, more than cautiously optimistic!

I really hope the cover system isn't just some stupid "there is x% less chance of being hit when hiding behind a dumbster" system.

    Maybe with tags?

Sometimes it's spot on, but there are some WTF worthy results.

So i asked the developper about how the cover system functions in this game and here's what he said:

What you can gather from this is that the cover system is realistic, the bullets have to physically hit the cover in order for them to be blocked and some covers might be penetrated depending on the material.
But most importantly the bullets are actually simulated, thay have to make physical contact to hit and the game continues to simulate the bullets even if they miss so there is a chance you might accidently shoot someone near or behind the target you intended to shoot which the developper confirmed.

Overall, this game clearly takes a lot of cues from the best, namely the original jagged alliance and xcom games, so if you like Tactial RPGs this is clearly a game you should pay attention to.
