This looks promising, I especially like the promise of gun customization. :bounce: On the other hand, "mature storytelling" is a red flag that can be seen from space.

Level design looks better than what I'm playing currently. (Troubleshooters.)

The waifus do not meet Troubleshooters level however.

Project Haven Demo is Live
Try the Project Haven demo, a Tactical Turn-Based RPG, during Steam Games Festival

Project Haven is an upcoming dystopian Tactical Turn-Based RPG with a gritty story campaign that can be played either solo or with up to three friends.

Project Haven puts you in charge of the Steel Dragons, a motley crew of mercenaries that fights for survival in the harsh streets of Haven City, the last city of Earth.

Some of the features are:
  • Unique free-aiming system with simulated projectiles
  • Flexible tactical combat with unrestricted navigation
  • Mature storytelling
  • Classless RPG character building
  • Advanced weapon mechanics
You’ll be able to play Project Haven’s Alpha Demo during the Steam Game Festival Summer Edition for a limited period of time only.

The Alpha Demo contains the first three campaign missions and a taste of Project Haven's 4 player online co-op play through the skirmish mode.

Everything you'll see is still a work in progress. Many features are still missing and you may encounter a few bugs during your gameplay. Some game modes are also not implemented in the Alpha Demo, such as the co-op campaign, that will be part of the final game release.

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, we’d be very interested in hearing from you! You can share your feedback and report any problems and bugs on the Steam Platform, on our Discord Server or directly through our email: support@foresightgames.com.

With the help of you, our community, we will make Project Haven the best it can!

Played the demo and it definitely has potential, the core systems the shooting movement and cover system are fun. The biggest issue at the moment is the Ui which looks good but doesn't work really well (Devs say on Discord that they will change it before release!). Haven't seen the base building mechanics sadly. I can definitely see myself enjoying this when they continue polishing this.

Same as I said in Steam Festival thread:
  • lots and lots of tactical options...
  • ...that are hidden behind very busy looking UI that isn't very functional at this point (too many clicks)
  • not weeaboo like Troubleshooter (though that is a great game)
  • animations seem a little bit stiff
  • I'm not that happy about first-person aiming, but meh
This is definitely on my wishlist, just hope that devs will polish the UI a bit.

Just played the demo (thank you Alienman for telling me about this). REALLY like what I see here. Jagged Alliance influence is super strong, with a full blown AP system and merc personalities.

Currently in buggy-as-shit alpha state, with very clunky UI (correct Yaar Podshipnik), repetitive voice lines, obviously very early days. Demo was probably rushed out the door to jump on this stupid limited time Steam promotion.

I didn't see the end of the demo, no saves and "your guys can't move" bug prevented me from completing 2nd mission.

Free aim shooting, with hit locations, ballistic modeling, and a great reticle system really left me hungry for more. In another year or two this is going to be the real deal.

edit.
Something about presentation and way that enemies move reminds me of Silent Storm.
Might be because of griddles movement.

Looks like I missed the demo. Son of a bitch, I should've played this instead of the waste of time that was Fellowship Saga and Ostranauts :argh:

Also the graphics for unseen enemies.

I think you can still download it here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/gamefestival?tab=5

Scroll through the Featured Demos panel, it's in there.

I think they actually took it down. Or rather, they set it to expire automatically for some reason, unlike many other demos.

Yeah, I don't see any reason to take it down unless it really becomes outdated compared to the full game. There are plenty of demos that are still up, I don't think Steam is forcing them to take down after the festival.

On the other hand, "mature storytelling" is a red flag that can be seen from space.

Hey, I'm one of the devs for the game, so we actually have a bit of an issue with describing the storytelling, mature seemed like a good word at the time, but now that more people gave feedback about the game we're starting to think we need to change it.
Just to clarify Project Haven is not a PC game, quite the opposite actually, we already offended people on Twitter :roll: with some supposedly misogynistic bark lines.
Anyway, the game deals with stuff like prostitution, human trafficking, drugs, some more actual macabre stuff, you know the usual dark cyberpunk lore. We considered those 'mature'.
But we also have some - what we think are borderline acceptable - barks ("Sneaky as a pedophile in a chatroom"), which triggered a lot of people, since it's supposedly not something 'mature'.
Anyway, we're not really sure what term to use to describe it, any suggestions?

As for the rest of the feedback around here, we know it's still somewhat rough around the edges, most of the issues are due to lack of explanation how some important mechanics work (being alpha and all), or how to change camera in aiming mode, which fixed 50% of the feedback we got. UI does needs a big overhaul though, we've been cramming stuff into it for quite a while now. Appreciate the feedback though!

Any questions let me know, or join us on discord https://discord.gg/fFMd8FU

Huh, it is kind of difficult to come up with the right term.
"Mature Content" doesn't work for reasons already mentioned;
"Adult Content" doesn't work because that implies porn;
"Dark Content" ... getting closer but I don't know, it might be construed as supernatural or something;
"Graphic Content" ... not bad, but people will be confused if it's not strictly visual;
Really the best I can think of right now would be R-Rated Content.

I'm not thinking of mature as necessarily a PC term, both the very PC and the very un-PC use the word. Hatred, Postal, Harvester, The Last of Us, the works of David Cage. Its a question as old as the use of the word in descriptions. Zombra's points apply, but R-rated is owned by the MPAA, which is a no-no. The only rating they don't own is X, and look what happened there. People aren't going to think of Robocop when they hear that letter. "Content some might find objectionable" works in my mind, but that could be it, my mind. Distasteful Content, maybe? As in, some distasteful content? Imitation 17+ rating mayhap? Or maybe overly explaining the content people might have an issue with, sarcastically, with things that aren't really objectionable added in.
